Thinking more, given the money supply is huge today and enabled apple to be so expensive in the first place, it actually doesn't feel unrealistic to expect something closer to apples current market cap than whoever was #1 during Volkswagens squeeze.

Actually I wonder if bbbyq would exceed apple, going above $2.75T, just as vw exceeded whoever was #1 when it had it's squeeze.

For a mega squeeze, something capable of fucking hedge funds, pumping to the price of the #1 company seems feasible the more i think about. The absolute number of dollars in a price is largely influenced by number of dollars in circulation but thinking about relative values, there's no reason a hedge fund that needs to close or collapse would value their AAPL holdings more than getting more bbbyq holdings. So we already have this class of market participant that would rather have a bbbyq share than an AAPL share.

People buying bbbyq shares too will likely be familiar with history and understand that when hedge funds get threatened that a price exceeding the world's most valued company is also feasible. So seems like a good chance they also prefer to hold bbbyq rather than aapl, meaning both the largest class of buyer and the largest class of holder likely both value the stock higher than the most valuable company in the world. Based on this relative value lens focused on the main buyer and seller actors, I really wouldn't be surprised at all if a squeeze goes to the price of AAPL.

Volkswagen had 6% float available vs 13% shorted right? Given that one of the stock issuances just disappeared, how possible is it that bbby also has twice as many shares shorted as tradable?

If there's actually like 300m shares short or 700m held by cede that don't exist and an acquirer takes at least 51% of the 415m, wouldn't that leave about 207m shares tradable? The proportion is worse but a scenario of 207m available vs 300m short looks like a much more catastrophic situation for shorts than Volkswagens 6% vs 13%... They'd have to buy half the damn company so unlike Volkswagens case, they don't need to just convince a minority of holders to bail them out. They'd effectively have to conjure up a seller capable of handing them not just a controlling interest but a ~75% controlling interest, right?

Think about it: if 13% of the shares are short then that's a relatively small number. There are a lot of holders who can save if you bid high enough, you just need something to spark them all into selling, like VW announcing they'd sell 5%, which ended the squeeze.

But in the above bbby squeeze scenario where am acquirer takes a controlling interest, shorts have way fewer outs. Even if someone tries to spark a selloff by selling 5% or even 20% of shares... That's still not enough for shorts to close is it? Their date still depends on that majority holder I think.

This just leaves the investment banks Citi and JP Morgan as the only other corporate "Interested Parties", and there are many potential reasons for their presence on the list, due to the nature of how they have interacted with BBBY in the past and currently.

With the vast majority of "Interested Parties" being listed due to probably expressing interest to purchase BBBY, I believe the most likely reason Ryan Cohen is also on the list is due to this same reason.
