Being stuck in mid 6 figures is gay as fuck guys let me explain:

>500k USD
>Earned it from working in a high paying, expensive city obviously not in fucking Minnesota

>Not enough to buy a house or retire
>Too much to gamble in shitcoins or risk it for 100x
>Too little to live off interest
>Can't really see portfolio move much and making it is too far out of sight
>Can't really lock it up as it's both your savings AND emergency fund

>You know you're not rich
>The rich know you're not rich
>Wagies think you're rich and seethe at you

Sigh boys forever hardstuck

I'm in a similar net worth range but have a lot of it locked up in real estate in a cheap area i moved to. I work remote, but make less and work a lot less. I don't care about getting fired but before i was type A super achiever. So it's more like 6 figure heaven for me. just need to design your life better imo. what goals do you have? I'm happy just having a decent home, not perfect, and going on spontaneous trips whenever i want, having kids, being comfortable. yes, i still wage but its really different. im basically a consultant and work part time at best.
I gamble with way less money than you, im hapy to keep most of my money in real estate even if it drops because its livable/rentable.

>> No.54824843

Six figure purgatory here as well. It’s mediocre but it beats being broke. If I were broke I wouldn’t have to pay taxes and could leech off the state but having to pay rent forever would be a constant source of demoralization. Like a dark cloud over your head for the rest of your life. Although your problems are simple when you’re poor, you really only have one problem.

>>54824672
With 8 figs you can have a very comfy lifestyle and never have to work again. OK maybe you can’t just buy a yacht whenever you want but what is there to complain about?

>> No.54824879

>>54824843
I think the worst part of it is you lose the motivation. If i was broke right now, I would be 1000x more motivated to flip cash, start a business I can scale, and I know I would do it. Being comfortable sucks. That's why I'm glad I started having kids, it puts some pressure on the situation.

I'm planning on visiting there later this year for typical tourist shit but also to get a feel for what it would be like to retire there.
Can you get by with only english? Do you have any recommendations for places to check out? From what I can find online Chiang Mai has a lot of good stuff going for it so that's top of my list and I hate crowds so Bangkok seems shitty.
Also have you lived there for a long time? Is it hard to get packages delivered or costly to upgrade computers like a laptop or anything?
I hear heat/humidity is bad during the summer, do you travel anywhere else during that time or just stick it out?
Would be comfy to live there 6 months and then have somewhere with a similar low cost of living to stay for another 6 months with better weather, and just migrate between them.
