5-10%, give or take. I bought mine a couple years ago at 18%, $265, spot then was $225. Now it's down 6% or $14 over spot. It's well worth it, gold's fiat price is only going to go up and especially since Ruskie coins are scarce now. IF I were to sell mine today, I could easily remake my premium and then quite a bit of profit.

Silver will never be real money. You have no utility, you have no anonymity, you do not store intrinsic value. You are a FED psyop twisted by FOMO, FUD and negative real interest rates into a crude mockery of paper $ perfection.

All the “mooning” you do is unsustainable and half-hearted. Behind your back people short you and sell paper copies (SLV). Your investors despite being broke losers are disgusted and ashamed of you, your “promoters” laugh at your ghoulish shillbots behind closed doors.

Peter Schiff despite making billions from premium grabbing is utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of history have allowed Schiff to profit from your sale with incredible efficiency. Even silver shitcoins that “have memes” imprinted on them look useless and unnatural to Schiff. Your lack of a use case is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a bot operator to “shill” you, he’ll turn tail and dump his bags the second he gets a whiff of your diseased, infected volatility.

You will never be widely adopted in transactions. You wrench out a fake pump every few months and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel your fraudulent nature growing more obvious, ready to dissolve you into millenial tears.

Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll get dumped, replaced by copper, wiped out by asteroid mining or a wooden nickel. Your promoters will regret buying you, heartbroken and ashamed that they must pimp out garbage rocks for food. They’ll be moved into a pod marked with a Disney logo, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a silver stacker is stored there. Your “value” will decay against inflation, go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy are some memes that are unmistakably inorganic.

This is your fate. This is what the Hunt brothers chose. There is no turning back

Copper is handy for the task as well but its getting to expensive to use as low denomination coinage. Inflation and the cost of copper killed the penny in Canada for example. Nickel has been a good coinage metal in more recent decades too, but thats probably going to change with how expensive its getting as well.

Man, I've never seen FUD to the extent that has been happening in /pmg/ threads, lately.
Nobody is going to just sit in threads all day, posting hundreds of posts about how good metals are as an investment, getting into simultaneous arguments with people and making pathetic attempts at memes all day for weeks on end, just out of the goodness of their hearts, to try and help people make a good investment.
There is definitely money behind the FUD shills, they have been employed by (((coin dealers)) who want people buying silver, in particular.
They've even started making multiple threads to disrupt /pmg/ cos they couldn't use arguments and were unable to make the threads unbearable (despite a lot of effort on their part).
The only conclusion that can be drawn is that we are over the target.

Guys, I'm not a critic of PMs but every time I look at mine I kinda sigh and regret my purchase. Over the last 5-10 years its done nothing but go up [slowly] and done better than other low-risk investments during this 0% period. But now that even a basic bitch CD is at 4-5%, I just feel like my money isn't doing as well sitting as gold and silver. Should I sell some of my stack? The historical charts don't shot this doing much better than basic mutual funds or CDs unless I'm missing something.

I'd like to pay off my house because paying $1800 a year in interest for a gay little tax deduction doesn't seem worth it to keep the mortgage around. Feels like I have buyers remorse (on the silver and gold) even though its not hurting me other than missed profit from other potential investments.

I mean having a 12 month padding in "cash" is ideal; nothing more cash than cash. If I went out and spent 12 months of cash buying gold, Not only do I pay a premium today, I take a cut on spot price when I sell. Ideally I never have to tap into that 12 month fund but if I did within 5 years of buying that gold, I'd be coming out way fuckin behind as opposed to a CD that would charge me 3-6 months interest on the original deposit while continuing to grow faster than gold. Thats where I'm looking at PMs as a poor investment.
>its not an investment!
Right, call it a hedge, insurance, bet, or what the fuck ever else its not keeping up with inflation like everyone said it should and the price doesn't seem to correlate to anything else in the world other than remaining relatively flat over the years.

It feels like I got into PMs way too early in my life. Only spent about $6600 getting in, its all worth about $10k now over 10 years. Not a fantastic return but its been a solid 0 risk.

I get it, I've sold off metals and coins over the years when I hit hard times. Sometimes I took a loss, but holding cash you lose to inflation and hodling any investment you're gonna owe taxes.

Best place to put money is into your house, or paying down debt. I like to keep at least $80k in available credit on cards in case of emergency. But in the rare event I need money, metals and coins did fine. I mean if you only go broke once every 10 years or so you got time for prices to go up and you don't take a beating on premiums.

Personally now if I was going to sit on a nest egg it'd probably be in index funds. But that would be a bad play in a recession, and recessions are when I need money. So for me I just keep available credit and put my cash into my house either through renovations/maintenance or just paying extra each month.

yep, depends on your frame of reference. Honestly nothing you can buy on the open markets is going to give huge returns over short time frames unless you have the money to slurp every dip.

over time the market in general outperforms metals especially with dividend stocks if you reinvest gains. Metals keep up fairly well too, but the premiums can kill a profit.

either one is better than cash imo. Cash is just losing value every year, and some years it crashes. Like this one.

I'm just glad I don't have to sell any of my stocks. Otherwise i'd take a massive beating. If I had to sell PMs I'd actually not make a loss at least if i sold my gold. I'm with you, eventually the index funds will return me a profit, they were in the green until shit turned itself inside out over the last year or so. I have some cash, but it constantly devalues but I keep it because emergencies and so I don't have to sell PMs or stocks. But I almost kinda wish I'd put more into paying off the mortgage than either stonks or PMs. I knew I was in it for the long run when I went all in on stocks and PMs a few years ago. Just feels shit when your in the dip I guess at least for stocks. I used to no shit get a kick out of looking at my stock portfolio daily. Now I don't even want to look at it. Am at least 20k down on stocks. But it still feels good to have the PMs there and knowing even with the premiums and even if I sold at melt price i'd either break even or make a small profit. But do wonder at times if it would have been smarter to pay down the mortgage. Still if I was totally fucked and had to sell my house, i'd have a lot of available cash. I hope we all make it really I do. I just hope I don't have to sell the PMs. Because that would be my first sell other than my losing stocks right now.

>> No.54826699

early on I got out of metals and into numismatics. That way I got the full benefit when metals went up but also the gains if collectibles went up as well.

I didn't buy new coins, just old US type coins. I shopped one LCS against the others. I went around and found the store that graded lowest and bought from them. Then when it was time to sell I'd take the coins to a different store that graded coins higher and sell at a profit every time. It's risky though because numismatic premiums are much higher than on metal, and you really have to know your grades and key dates/types.

Now I've gotten into exonumia because the price spreads are spectacular. Unpredictable, but huge. But if I had to sell off my tokens and medals in a hurry I'd take a huge loss. As long as I have a few years to sell I can pretty easily make 10-20x gains. Though 2x in a hurry is more common for me.

IF the S&P makes a new low and dumps to 3,000 to 3,300...

Surely we get $20-ish silver?

I want to build up a large paper silver position (partly due to convenience) by selling my bond funds. Already own some physical. Just don't see this as a good entry price. My gut feeling is that in a late 2023 financial crisis, silver drops below the March '23 price. $17 from Sept last year probably will not be breached.

Thanks again for the cheapies Moshe.

Real talk though. It’s very encouraging to see the Jews obviously terrified and throwing more and more bodies at this issue. They understand it’s the lynchpin of all their power. And because they know the terrible consequences that awaits them once unmasked, they overreact with feral, existential terror. They make mistakes. They go too far. And it all comes crashing down.

Every Jew Shill post is like a bright star; shining a ray of hope that one day we will overcome their evil, and humanity resume its natural course.

>taxes the entire sale
Yeah that's the worst case scenario, and they'll tax you even if you sold at a loss. In France, that's an 11.5% flat tax. But if you have a receipt in your name and the nominal purchase amount, you're only taxed on capital gains (if there are any) at 22%. But here's where it gets more interesting: the capital gains tax starts going down by 5% (compounded each year) after the third year of holding. After 22 years, the tax is 0%.
I also read on one site (can't remember which) that gold/silver coins (and only coins) sales transactions below 5000 euros aren't taxed at all, but I couldn't find the actual law, so I'm not convinced that's true.

Dude, inflation was over 20% in the USA for a period in the Carter administration and those were relatively GOOD times economically. Not if, but WHEN the growing BRICS coalition releases a viable alternative, commodity-backed currency, there is going to be a rush to dump US dollars. They will flood the US market. And when China, Japan, and others unload their trillions in Treasuries it is a double whammy because not only does the US government have to pay back what it has borrowed with money it doesn't have but it will have to print more to cover its massive deficit that it can no longer borrow from other countries while at the same time the dollars we have been pushing overseas come rolling in. That right there could EASILY drive inflation over 50% And that is just one mechanism. There are more. Massive inflation is not a "how" question, it is a "when" question. If you don't see that, you have your head in the sand.

As for the stock market, the Dow Jones lost almost 90% of its value in the great crash that led to world wide depression. So what the fuck are you talking about?

A main use are catalytic converters for combustion-engines in cars, this changed slightly with emission standards putting emphasis on other metals in the group, electric cars don't need them.
Hydrogen fuel-cell tech is a possible large-scale future use compensating or exceeding ICE-car application, but this is uncertain.
From a squeeze-perspective it's a theoretically easier target than silver due to the low volume.
Personally have some just in case and cause it's fun to have something sliver with higher density than gold around.

>the Dow Jones lost almost 90% of its value in the great crash that led to world wide depression
Are you actually just making shit up now? Even in 1929 for the great depression it only dropped like 15%. in 2008 whatever it may have dropped it recovered within 2 years and saw all-time highs shortly after.
