So anybody else kind of surprised that inflation seems to be subsiding as much as it is? I know it's a bit early to call the battle "over" but truflation is calling it at 4%. I still think 4% is gonna be sticky as shit, but if core comes down to below 5%, I'm curious how long until we reach 4% on the core number, and whether or not the fed really truly continues.

I've had a stance that Powell would continue rate hikes until either A) the job is done or B) he breaks something, and we're definitely seeing B happen. Nobody gives a damn what Elizabeth Warren's cunt mind things, but does anybody here really truly think we'll keep trending down until core is at 2% and at this point inflation is defeated? Am I missing something?

EPA is also independent, as is the FBI. I don't think you understand what that means. There are plenty of "independent" government agencies that've been created over time through various legislation.
They have their own management and internal control when it comes to hiring and policy decisions, but they still fall under the umbrella of the government on the whole. FDIC specifically falls under congress, there are no outside shareholders.

Federal reserve is a bit different.

Ok, I'll take one final bite. The word "independent" is not found once within the main contents of that page you linked.
You know what is found though...? I'll give you a hint, read the first sentence.
>The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is a United States government corporation
>United States government
>government

In fact, even the governance over the FDIC itself is not truly handled independently. It is directly handled by appointees chosen by the president:
>The Board of Directors is the governing body of the FDIC. The board is composed of five members, three appointed by the president of the United States with the consent of the United States Senate and two ex officio members
But these agencies do still like to claim independence. In a limited way, it is true that they get to make their own internal decisions without pushing every single action back upwards to the president to sign off on.

For the record, USPS is also a government entity. Being that these are government entities, any theoretical profit/loss/funding caps are as imaginary as the debt ceiling.

Put sellers hold out to zero because they don't want to pay brokerage fees/commissions and eat the 1 cent bid to close out something worthless.
Put buyers can't exercise because most brokerages give strict time limits, so their OTM puts expire worthless despite the massive AH dump.

Meanwhile the MMs get that last minute exercise to dump on those sellers. The point is, either way retail gets fucked. They might halt trading for 3 weeks come Monday as well, so there's no market to trade remaining options into. That's how they did SVB.

I'm not an expert on the precise rules, but I believe 5:30 pm is the absolute cutoff for submitting a request of options exercise. However it may depend partially on the exchange.

In theory I'd agree, but it's easy to see the effectively worthless option and just stop caring. Fees reduce profit, especially if the contracts were only worth a few pennies in the first place.

The most awkward I've experienced is when an stock closes with the sold contract OTM, but I still get assigned because my counterparty hedged it away in the middle of the trading day during an hour where the option had been trading ITM. Then I get stuck with overnight risk for the whole weekend.

I'm a newfag who overdosed on fear porn and got infatuated with the idea of riding the next leg down, then going all in on tqqq till it recovers, and then bogleheading till I retire early. Oh well, it's good to learn these lessons when I'm only $700 down with 20 years to go.

"Only" 700 on a 1500 position is still a lot, and its just a 3x leveraged etf. Most of the time its not good to keep adding to a losing position and better to a eat a smaller lose then risking your entire balance.

>all-in tqqq
>retirement
you should overthink your plan and add some if then else clauses

yes
it is a 13 year old laptop
that was given to me
I recently spent $13 on a new keyboard for it off of eBay because a bunch of keys stopped working a lot. The CPU started getting noisy a few months ago, and any time some action starts up on Robinhood it starts whirring so I know to check and see WTF.

there wont be much "action" for the forseeable future. The buy and make 10% just holding times are likely over for a few years

Yes
I just need to keep the line moving at all times and if I see a wave I want to surf I jump in and maybe get 2% and feel fortunate.

You are the $9 buyer I see. Might stay away from high cap stocks with your change and try to uniroincally ride shitcoin waves - you will lose a few dollar here and there but when you get it those $9 can quick become $90

No, $10. I originally bought $1 and decided to up it $9 so I could see the movements with greater granularity than 10%. What I'm doing is watching these $10 seeds so that any fluctuations register in easily "feelable" degrees based on the meter of 10, and when I see one of them hit a dip I like I will pour more into it, sell the next rip, then buy/start another fresh $10 on it. It's essentially a watchlist that's actually got a little skin in it, but that skin is minimal so there is no stress at all, it's just a tool for helping me determine when I want to try surfing a wave. I was going to get KOLD too but it only allowed for full shares during after hours. I was also going to get DE because I love the stock, having watched my son's share of it in a stocks program he's in, in which I did the picking for him. I have watched his 5 stocks daily since Feb 2021.

HOWEVER
I am indeed very interested in what you have to say about those shitcoins, but I know nothing about any of them, which ones I should be watching and such. I have only ever bought BTC a few times.
