Really dumb fucking strategy but please bear with me.
I know spreads are used to hedge a position but the profit is very limited.
I want to go really deep into long dated puts on UPST because I know there's a strong possibility of it reaching the single digits, and I want a fuckload of them, but it's obviously retarded to do so. I was thinking about shorter dated calls for every 3 long dated puts I place as an alternative to hedging my position.

The profit is much greater and risk is still somewhat mitigated if the market still has some short term rally behind it. Is this a good strategy?
Any reply is deeply appreciated.

In my limited experience well out of the money puts tend to be extremely cheap, and poorly populated.
So my guess is you can probably buy them for $1/contract, if you can find someone to take the other side.
Not having seen how the company operates their contract denominations, however, I'd be concerned that you'd have sufficient room to be in the money if the price did actually move that way. A number of, especially low volume stocks start jumping offerings for contracts once you get away from the recent ranges.
Sorry, I'm sure there's professional language for this stuff, but this is how I currently think of it.

No. Prices will never go down again. Companies will just raise prices every quarter to always make record profits (or they will get fired and replaced by those who will). Consoomers can't not buy. If they don't buy because they run out of money then they just go homeless and die. In the future, instead of selling 10 million widgets per quarter for $10, they will just sell 1 widget per quarter for $100-million to an oil-rich Saudi. This is bullish because it reduces headcount and capital costs at the company. They will wonder why they weren't doing this the whole time. Marketing departments will ignore the poors and the whole economy will be selling overpriced IRL NFTs to billionaires while we live in homeless camps.

Company relies on people applying for loans. Because of high interest rates and current recession there's no bull thesis for UPST.
It's ""technically"" a meme stock so there's tons of interest for it, it being highly shorted is the only reason this thing has had any run-ups, but it being off regSHO makes it an easy target for more shorting.
Predictions and fair value price range for the stock sits at $8, it's currently at $15.50 and just had a 40% run-up. It's going to go down (in my opinion), just a matter of when.

Vik, in it for the buck by the giga
A short truck ride to the liquor store to refuel
Rookie at the counter, manager told 'em "he cool"
(You got some change?) Walk, tellin' ya hard luck story
Or else that's gonna leave a scar, yuck gory
And we're outtie, peewwmm!

You could see how loud he blew
And now that's a fine howdy doo

Sclerrrrr! Stay in your lane!
Keep drivin' straight or catch a stray in ya brain
Go deep divin' off the side of the bridge off a slide and a skid
Who wanna ride with the kid?

Sad as this is, this is the truth of things. You'll never get to experience a filling meal at a fast food place for just $1.00 per item again nor get to see a 20oz coke for 1.00 or 1.25 either. (actually its not 20oz anymore, more like 16).
Shat's fucked and it'll stay like that. Who would've thought that pre-covid/covid was the last time you got to experience cheap shat. I could go to MCD's and get 2 sausage biscuits w/small coffee for 3.18 (tax included). Not anymore. This is why house buying is important. Your locking in that loan rate. v.s paying rent that can change on whatever whim the landlord decides. I'm fucking glad I got mine during the fallout of 2008. I pay 400 a month. Shat's fucked out the ass but I pay 400 no mater what.

Well then anon you are off you are off to a good start. Though your racial slurs towards African American individuals show poor character and an un-Christian attitude which may inhibit your success in the workplace.

The next thing I want you to do is review your other expenses. Subscriptions, car payments, credit card interest. Cut everything you can. Your date thinks you're a nerd for not having Netflix? Dump her, you need a women who will support your decisions including financial.

Finally once you are through all of that, it is time to increase your income. Now I am not optimistic from what I've seen from your posts thus far, but, you must have a skill that sets you apart from others, something you can really double down on to pull ahead of the pack. Now once you identify that, you need to go all-in on that skill and make sure you are paid accordingly. Then not only will you pay off your debt quickly, you'll come out of it stronger than before with a growing income stream. DR out.

That's another funny thing! VIX uses a rolling calculation of up to 45 days or whatever it is, but most of the volume in is 0-2 dte as per that report. Basically all the data is frontloaded and we don't have a true picture of long-term volatility.
On the other hand, that makes further-dated things quite cheap..

I am from UK, but I entered 129k GBP into my SIPP last tax year to reduce my tax burden by 58%. 98% of that money is sitting in MMF funds earning about 4.1% (after fees ect). Its better than nothing & is a pretty penny if stocks underperform in a side ways market for years to come.

You should still consider MMF if they are an option to reduce cash drag whilst you drip feed back into equities/bonds if the timing is a risk. Being entirely risk-off is rarely a good play unless you are nearing retiring age in a few years.

Try not to confuse the tax-free amount as a gain, it is of course smart to take advantage, espically in your case with a 50% relief (myself it was 58% so I understand) but you still need to keep that money in its growth phase if you are young.

I'm 25, so plenty of time till I am 57 lol.

I'm just being a hardass about it being a gain. The match is an expense for the employer and in absence of it workers would be paid more. It's the gov't mandating matches to incentivize retirement, which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering how financially illiterate most people are. Personally I only contribute up to the match to get my "full comp", then invest the rest myself across taxable/HSA/Roth.. mutuals are too low risk for how hands on I am. Much lower fees doing stocks directly as well. WFC pushed me into a target date fund eating 7% front-loaded fees each buy. I ended that after I learned.

From looking at various options volume, I always see 3 strikes, either puts or calls, that have outlier volume. I think this is a form of CC with short outer legs and long inner legs.
This is a credit spread that is far OTM, has roughly 2:1 delta on the short vs long legs, and is on a euro-style chain. It's also placed 1SD away from the upside price forecast, and a 4:1 risk:return ratio. Not sure if this is optimum, but it feels like I'm on the right track to selling weeklies
