What are some tips for 9-5 office wagies?

Bring rice and beans for lunch?
Take a bathroom break every hour?
Hide in cubicle?

How do I survive would be a better title.

Hide in a cubicle? You can only wish for that, all 3 of my jobs were open plan hell. Ok I have a genuine tip, if your workplace has flexible hours, i.e. allows you to arrive 1 hour early and then leave 1 hour early, do that. It was always quiet in the early mornings and I never even had to start pretending to work before most other people came in an hour later

thanks thats a good one, it doesnt seem to be open floor plan zog hell

Second this advice. Get there early, make a quick show to the relevant people who get there after you that you are an early riser. Leave several hours early, if you can get away with it.
My office has crept back to two days in-office per week and I'm out the door at 2pm because I almost never have engagements after that time and no one gives a shit.

Eat beans for breakfast lunch and dinner and fill the office with your farts to assert dominance over the other wagies

the most important tip is to learn how to make conversations go absolutely nowhere, make sure they're the ones talking and always respond with pointless nonsense if you need to talk

they will feel like you are a very good listener, and very normal

Yep, the small talk is hell, and obviously don't go into politics or reveal your power level.
If you're allowed to listen to music it can help pass the time

To add to this, one of the best conversational techniques you can learn when making random small talk, is to make other people feel like their the smartest person in the room when you talk to them. Let them ramble about their past work experience or odd hobby to a degree, and don't look visibly uninterested. Its a powerful psychological "in" that brings you forward in their minds when they are asked who they might trust to handle something. You don't have to have fake used car salesman energy or anything, just let them be an expert on something for a few minutes. I learned this from my 78 year old advisor in grad school who swore by it for schmoozing with admins, feds, and deans. Its a powerful move.

This is actually terrible advice unless you're in a 100% confirmed dead-end position. You don't have to be superman and volunteer to do other people's work, but you should make it clear that you want to learn and are open to either additional training, professional development, or have skills that could be used to make work smoother. My first real job out of school was at a startup that built water treatment equipment, so I made it a point to learn a bunch of 5S stuff, and went around the shop floor asking guys what they would like to have that could make their work stations less of a clusterfuck. I made a project out of getting them pegboards and setting up their areas so tools wouldn't wander off and they had to spend less time hunting down random fittings. Because I made it a point to make sure other people had the tools they needed to do their jobs, I was asked if I wanted to go to a PD class for learning to manage.

Basically, just be open to making small things better and you'll be amazed at how responsive your management will be.

Great advice from both of these anons.

For the fellow autists in the thread, I love to just recite back what coworkers just told me.
>Hey anon, I was so tired this weekend.
>Why were you tired this weekend?
>I was busy doing xyz.
>How did you do xyz.
>Repeat over and over.
You just ask about whatever they are saying. Like the other anons said they will think you are an excellent listener.
BUT TO BE CLEAR, THEY WILL NOT RECIPROCATE THIS.
So please don't attempt to trauma dump to your coworkers, no one cares what you did or how you feel.
TLDR: Ask questions about what they say and don't say anything but very basic stuff about yourself. They will love you if followed.

you will still have to interact with co-workers but it will be harder to connect with them. And the company is going to monitor your every move

this is such a huge thing, basically nobody reciprocates anything, it's almost like an autist who puts in the effort can actually end up being more social than these people
