Lots of things change as you age. You can't start a new career because why hire a 30+ newbie when you can hire a 20+ newbie. Moving to another country becomes harder because a lot of those immigration laws have age limits and you can't do student visa stuff. Dating young women becomes creepier and creepier with every year and dating old women is not something anyone would want to do. Obviously you fall out of mainstream culture because it's aimed at 20 year olds and not at you. And the one nobody talks about is, you lose a lot of your friends. Every one of my friends have families, they never hang out without their wives and it's basically over for us. I try to keep up some old friendships but it's not the same, not at all, the wife is always orbiting somewhere close, friendships became very shallow, half the time we're talking about their new flipping furniture, and those are people who used to be fun. Maybe my friends are just a bit cucky because the allowed their wives to take control of their lives like that but there's nothing I can do about that.

But I can say that the one thing that will help distract you from the misery of your reality is working really hard towards a goal. This also just so happens to be one of the few things that can save you.

After 25 there are really only two approaches you can take to life.

1. have lots of fun but feel miserable and guilty at the end of the day.

2. Work hard and feel bored for most of the day, but feel the glow of fulfilment when the day is done.

My life was over at around 36. Not because of anything personally, my finances were good, my lifts were climbing, I could still date young chicks, but because by that point I only had 2 friends left who either had not moved far enough away that I couldn’t see them regularly or had become completely insane parasites. And by that point it’s sort of too late to make new good friends so you’re alone except for the women you date, but it gets to the point where you can’t just throw 6 months away on a shitty relationship like you could in your 20s. Everyone around you starts dying or losing their minds. You’re still as young as the care you’ve managed to put into yourself, you’re one good break from making it, but life in general degrades rapidly after your 20s because no matter how on top of your shit you may be, most are fuck ups.
