First of all, their warning was correct. I did get an ETH phishing scam in my spam box right before I got this email from Coinbase.
Problem is that Coinbase says none of their stuff was compromised but the email address I use for that account is ONLY used for that account and nothing else.
Going to have to call this one "dubious", not that it matters. I quit using Coinbase months ago when they couldn't explain how my Coinbase debit card number got stolen before I ever even used it to replace the previous card number that was stolen.

There’s a bunch of things like this in the crypto industry. An army of people who haven’t had it happen to them yet and want people to buy their bags might show up and call you a liar rather than actually addressing the security issues. Maybe these days enough people have lost stuff to hacks they take it more seriously, but always keep your stuff secure, and don’t put too much in places you don’t know are 100% secure

Over the weekend when I bought BTC, coinbase had apparently disconnected from my bank account and I had to reconnect to it before I could buy.

I wonder if their solution to a data breach is to just clear out all the sensitive info and force the user to re enter it under the assumption that scammers wont have that specific info?

My funds are with Kraken and I've never had a problem like this.

Checked and absolutely right. Even when I had funds on CB, I still was very strict about 2FA and whitelisting.

I haven't used Kraken, but I have used others. This hasn't happened with any others. The debit card thing was enough of a red flag to get me off the platform for good, at any rate.
