To keep confidence in the system. We know they have the money to do it, it’s a matter of actually taking action.

Why not?

The Fed intentionally caused this by lying about their future interest policy. It’s a targeted attack on fintech and crypto.

Tax dollars aren't used for anything. The government poofs into existence whatever money it wants. Taxes exist to redistribute wealth.

People are panicking after SVB, all banks are affected by unrealized losses from 0% interest bonds pre 2021, next monday people will try get money from their banks, making it worse.
But also! Not only old bonds are the problem, businesses and people are defaulting on their car loans and mortgages, this makes it even worse.
2008 is going to be a joke compared to 2023.

most SVB deposits were loans to customers created by SVB.
if we make those whole they have been allowed to create and then keep money.

$200B is nothing lmao, the TARP loans were $700B and these days the Fed yearly budgets are in the trillions.

I don't even think it will be necessary, though. Fact is SVB probably had the assets, they're just not all liquid right at thus very moment. FDIC can take those retarded 1.5% 10-year securities that SVB bought and give them the face value I steal of the current marker rate. Fixes SVB's liquidity problems and the Fed's won't be making a ton of interest, but eventually they'll get their money back and then some once those securities reach maturity. It's not like FDIC's job is to make money anyway, their job is to help keep the US banking system stable and healthy.

Worst case even if this can't cover SVB's liquidity needs, they just sell all their property, buildings, office supplies, etc. If they aren't going to operate as a bank anymore, they can liquidate all their assets that would have been needed to run the business and illiquid prior to the receivership.

taxes exist to oppress the underclass

all tax liabilities are passed downward onto those who can't evade them legally
