>> No.53902523

I have a question bbbyaggies. You seem convinced that a merger is imminent, that the guy who sold his entire stake in the company will step in to save you for some reason. When this supposedly happens, you're convinced that the market will reconsider the fundamental value of the stock to be far above the current price, and that coupled with the relatively high short interest (not accounting for the massive dilution) this will result in a massive short squeeze.

However, you also maintain that anyone who comes into these threads and casts any doubt must be a paid shill, brought here by the evil hedgies to convince you to sell, that they may save themselves.

If you're convinced that the merger is inevitable, and that it will undoubtedly result in a squeeze of epic proportions, then what is their motivation for paying people to come here and FUD? If what you say is true, then the game is already over, the evil shorties will go bankrupt even if I can convince every person on this board to sell. If that's the case, what would be their motivation for paying me to FUD here? Isn't it more likely that they'd direct their resources another way? Isn't it more likely that I'm simply someone who thinks you folk are fucking retarded, and enjoys pointing out how retarded you are, then it is that I'm a paid shill operating out of Kashmir, Pakistan, to come here and convince you to sell?

I think there's definitely been some paid sentiment manipulation both ways but it's like 5% of the post volume at most because there's plenty of volunteers to shill or fud as applicable and based on what position they have and how frustrated or egotistical they are.

If you knew this was going to squeeze and you were going to lose your ass over it if not go to prison, and you were a greedy cunt with no soul, then I'd imagine it would be very funny to keep paying shills because every person you got to sell or not buy at the eleventh hour would be a likely suicide. Maybe they still do it just to get as much attention as possible, maybe they're doing it to keep people from selling because they hate their lives and finance and want the system to eat itself tail first so they can finally be free.

What is empirically clear is that you're a faggot. That much I know for certain.

I think the pajeet thing is mostly a joke that was more popular in crypto spaces during an earlier internet. These days it’s true bot farms from China, Eastern Europe etc. That said I also think 4chins overestimates how important it is to garner that level of external influence these days. The other anon phrased it well by saying it’s a joke that goes both ways. Paid shilling exists, but it’s minimal. To your question: why would the short side do it if a merger is inevitable? A) they don’t actually believe it’s inevitable B) they believe the shilling effort could induce relevant capitulation from the long side or C) it’s a relatively inexpensive thing for funds to employ that could save them way more money on trades assuming their sentiment influence succeeds. These are also people who are fighting for their livelihood and way of doing business, nowhere in the long thesis does it suggest that it’s going down without a fight.

False narrative.
If an equity merger takes place, all shares of the affected CUSIP must be recalled. Consider that scenario carefully.

>> No.53904786

>>53904708
Your point really shines true if Bobby's BOD did the convertible equity deal with what a bull would call a bad actor - or what a bear would call a godsend. If the bears are right that Hudson is the one, then they absolutely have the upper hand. They'll dilute the bulls into oblivion and make some a mint doing it. Then they'll carve up Bobby's bankrupted corpse for fun.
That said, the bull thesis, as much as I am aware anyway, is that the purchaser of the convertible equity is a good actor - insofar as they are only going to convert the minimum number of warrants into common. If the bulls are right that RC or Icahn are in this, then they've no reason to convert all warrants to common since they're going to do a reverse merger or triangle. This then kills the dilution narrative.
Who is right? No idea. I'm the closest thing to an objective analyst there is, if such a thing even exists. And of some note tho, none of the actors on any side are being directly quoted, so that could mean NDAs ... or nothing. Fun game.

The fact BBBY has been green two days in a row, and is coming up on a golden cross, actually makes me (a little) bullish.

The acquiring party will absolutely convert their preferred shares into common stock to ensure they have a majority position in the company. The part shills never say out loud is it makes zero sense for that acquiring party to then sell any shares, because they want majority control of the company, which means even if the number of shares in existence did increase to a large extent the tradable float would remain the same size. They also never mention that none of those preferred shares have been converted yet, by any party, because they cannot be until 90 days after acquisition by the acquiring party per the filing of their creation. Dilution also makes zero (0) sense as a way to craft a narrative about the company nor does it excuse the fact that a company with 117 million shares in existence has had trade volumes in excess of a billion shares for the last three months. It's just naked shorts and rolling fails to deliver despite the insane cost of doing so on a now daily basis, in a weak attempt to avoid their fate they were doomed to when the company avoided bankruptcy by finding an acquiring party and getting their bonds paid.

Based. The fudskis have been doing a good job of blurring the lines of what the process with the warrants, preferred shares, and common stock actually is and it tickles my kankles. We've gotten a single filing for one batch of a conversion of warrants to preferred shares that was the exact amount they needed to pay the interest on their debt. This affects common stock holders in no way and doesn't add to the share count. Warrants do not automatically equal common stock. There hasn't been a filing for an increase in share count of more than 5% like there would have to be if they were converting those to common shares.

No fucking way. Doing that right in the middle of the bbby shit show would basically mean some billionaire who controls this corrupt agency has decided to go attack the billionaires shorting bbby.

Did you understand it as implying any sort of time limit? If they really can't roll over indefinitely then that means they can only roll over finitely... Which means we here should now be able to figure out how long they can realistically roll over shorts.

The convertible shares go from being one to a thousand, and the last time I looked enough were created to get the total amount of shares in existence up around 400 million. It looks like per the filings enough were sold to the acquiring party to get them to about 40% of the total in existence meaning they would still need to go into the market and purchase additional shares to get them to the 51% mark, and since they're acquiring the company they have no incentive to sell a single one. BBBY is also reserving some for themselves, presumably to convert and sell into the market to help pad their cash on hand, but once again from the last time I looked at the filings it's not very many of them and works out to about ten million shares if they were to convert all of them. And given that volume has been more than a billion per month for the last three months, that's a drop in the bucket.
>I might be wrong about some of the specific numbers but they're within the ballpark and I'm not digging all that shit back up to post in the thread, the convertibles are either 1,000 common stock per or 10,000 common stock per.

I don't understand why anyone would want to buy them, by their own quarterly filings their debts outpace their assets by 800 million. Is the name really worth that much? It seems insane to pay however many hundreds of millions to buy preferred shares to then just end up owning 800 million in debt if you sold every asset. It makes no sense.

I hate asking for spoon-feeding, but I'm curious. If this new rule change only (directly) affects one equity exchange... it should still pump right? I mean is there anywhere we could find a breakdown as to how many FTDs are on each exchange? Is the ones pertaining to BBBY all spread 'evenly' through these equity exchanges, or do some of those exchanges handle more international markets?

It's a little above my head, anon.

Unknown if BBBY will pump hard. I tend not to deal in uncertainties. I like sure things.
FTDs are not available until 2 weeks go by, and then we get the last 2 weeks worth of data. Latest data is up through 14 February. FTDs by exchange? Unfortunately, I do not have that data available. That said, FTDs are cumulative for that day. As an example, on 14 February for GME, there were 14,177 FTDs. As you can see, BBY had ... substantially more than that.
Also, CBOE does have a European exchange.

Is that 14 trading days?

Also, what's your position in this, if you don't mind me asking? Your discourse ITT has been some of the most quality I've seen in a while (particularly >>53904786 which summarizes my feelings exactly).

I think this has a genuine shot at another large runup, and as an options guy, I'm trying to time that one big shot. I know you said you deal in certainties, but I'm a risk-taker, and the risk-taker in me believes that: two green days following a number of red days, a crash in the crypto markets, a filing against indefinite rolling of FTDS and off exchange volume (the two main culprits keeping these meme stocks low), and interest payments made all point to bullish activity soon.

Like you said, a fun game. This is life changing money if I can time this right.

>> No.53918428

You are reading that correctly and the price did continuously decline.
To sum it up quickly, the missing piece is the execution of synthetics via long OTM calls and short ITM puts that were used to close FTDs. This is one way to "infinite roll" an FTD, and explains why the market price continued to decline, as this action has both a dilutive effect and puts downward pressure on the stock price.

No, those are calendar days, and they include weekends. Think 1st and 15th, like some employers use to pay employees.
My position? I am mostly long BBBY and long January 2025 LEAPS at the $1 strike. I do have a handful of June and August OTM calls that I managed to accumulate by routinely selling 0D OTM CSPs for the last 8 weeks. I will be doing this for week #9 tomorrow as well, selling the $1.50 put to anyone willing to buy.
I was a huge risk-taker in my 20s and 30s, so I am familiar with your stance. A large run up is possible, though YMMV with the definition of "large". No matter what happens, always remember this: Rule #1 - Don't lose money.

>>53918559
Realistically? I say not yet, as this only affects BYX. Had it been for the whole of NASDAQ, we'd be having an entirely different conversation.
In and of itself, creating synthetics to close FTDs is a beast of burden for the executor. Their thesis must exclusively be bankruptcy, else their winning short plays in the double-digits in 2022 and high singles in 2023 are effectively wiped out when they short the bottom as heavily as they are.
Shorts are no doubt still very much in the green. Whether they can stay there and convert to long or neutral is another question, too.
