Longer answer: I cant afford real estate close to my office, so I have a long commute. I cant afford most things close to my office, cause for decades predatory entities have been preying on workers who dont have a choice. Now that I have a choice I am fleeing the parasites and you'll have to force me to go back. Make the office not be an absolute shithole, and I'll consider coming back.

Well, they're not even actually part of the work; what's part of the work is the constant anxiety about being laid off/passed over based on some inscrutable criterion, and the shilling is done as a result of the anxiety.

>Technology can facilitate communication through writing, video, and audio; face to face is unnecessary and wanted only by lonely extroverts
>Bathroom use is inconvenient at an office, especially if there are limited stalls. At home you don't have to wait or share
>Commuting is a waste of time and money
>Most office settings are cubical dungeons with no window
>Working from home allows for more convenient meal preparation
>Colds and other sickness spreads in offices
If a job can be done entirely on a computer, there is NO advantage to being in an office. The office is an outdated and antiquated concept that only existed because we didn't have the technology to work anywhere else. Goddamn corporate cunts will force me to waste my time to sit in a dungeon because they don't want to waste their building spaces.

This is the correct answer

I'd be willing to go back if I could live anywhere close to where id work. The liberals are all gung ho about muh carbon reduction but they have nothing to say about the more and more common 45 minute commute. I don't want to drive that long, but any house that's within a 15 minute drive to downtown in pretty much any of the top 50 cities in America is either $10k because it's in the ghetto or $1m because every rich boomer and trust fund zoomer wants to live there. The average working person now has to drive long distances from outside the city or literally sell their soul in rent.

If only lol. These days you are forced to sit 2 feet away from Rajesh and smell the curry his wife made for lunch. You also can’t open anything not work related on your screen because he’s looking over your shoulder constantly.

Most people worked from their homestead or plot of land they occupied for the overwhelming majority of human history. Going into the factory, and now the office, is an aberration. WFH is returning to normalcy.

Shocking true. I got a job for some company saying they were deperate and needed someone asap. That if I worked hard I could be fast tracked to a good position in six months

Fast forward 6 months of shitty hours and low pay and they cuck out going "its just not in the budget". So I resigned and a few months later I got a job at 30% more pay from all the bullshit experience I got

they especially love to poach new grads with this scheme. they always promise 6 months then a conversion. when 6 months comes around they're kicking the can, lying, beating around the bush, to keep stringing you along, and if you get on them to hold up to their promises they fire you. i dont even know why they do it. the recruiting firm you get contracts through takes 25-50% of hourly price. so they're paying $40/hr for some kid only getting 20/hr out of it. it would cost the dumb assholes less to just make a hire. but HR's latest gimmick is maintaining a dynamic, flexible workforce, aka a bunch of contractors they can axe at the drop of a hat. it ought to be illegal.

Because people are lazy and want to sit at home pretending to work.
Anyone who tells you they are more productive at home is a liar. I worked from home for two years during the pandemic on £200k and did next to nothing and my boss still tried to get me to stay when I handed my notice in.

>> No.53913094

>>53909581
I'm not against this in theory but in practice it becomes a pain in the ass since everyone is worried about getting fired so no one bothers and the company gets (rightfully) paranoid about a union dictating their business. I think collective bargaining is fine but it rarely is ever that pure since workers don't have that leverage.

Yes it does. Calls come in. People answer them. There's always a queue and people don't have time to do a ton of socializing. They have to hit their numbers. Some places are chill and let you instant message each other on a completely monitored channel or text each other on your phone, but it's not gab gab gab between the female workers. That only happens in the offices where there isn't a constant, reliable stream of things to be done.

You've clearly never worked in a call center. It's more akin to manufacturing than office work.

I went in to the office last week and probably 4-5 people from two different teams that are meant to be "under the pump" talked for a total of 4 hours, throw in a COFFEE BREAK and a lunch break and that's nearly the entire day of no work.

If you're in a blue-collar job, maybe. My problem is that people want to get paid more and more for doing less and less. What the fuck are we going to do in thirty years when everyone is a social media marketer, a digital content strategist, a diversity and inclusion officer or a holisitic life coach etc? I get more emails at work about women's history month than actual work these days. The west is fucked.
