This, op.

You will be unlikely to ever cash out and if you manage it you'll get every red flag there is and will never again not having your tax returns triple-investigated every year until you die.

On the other hand, it is probably the most useful crypto if you actually want to use it as a real currency in exchange for goods in defi.

At the moment the xmr economy is 90% illegal goods and services though. Some privacy-defi enthusiasts (schizos) insist on it and are doing an admirable effort to expand the economy to more general use. I think this is unlikely though - it's too damaged by it's reputation to ever see a larger scale use with the wider defi public.

I may be dumb, but from this reasoning xmr is pretty much the only crypto I see less as pure speculation and investment and rather as a currency with actual use ability. No idea if this is bearish or bullish if you want to treat it as an investment.

...you can probably cash out if you are just buying, holding and selling on a CEX - but then you never actually own any monero anyway. When writing the post I just assumed no one is retarded enough to keep their funds on a CEX but then I remembered where I am.

maybe on a small scale. but if one day you cashed out tens/hundreds of thousands dollars of xmr you would have the fbi sticking their nose right up your arse.
having said that, XMR is the only crypto outside of btc that people actually use as a currency somewhat. so its not like it will ever go down. I myself have made several monero purchases and donations to organisation with it. so its actually useful to have some around if you need to buy something zog doesnt want you to have.

>You will be unlikely to ever cash out and if you manage it you'll get every red flag there is and will never again not having your tax returns triple-investigated every year until you die.

lol horseshit you can't, amounts under $600 don't get reported so you can accept bank wires via a DEX swap.

Above that you can buy PMs and sell them for cash. Or opt for cash-in-mail/dead drops like the darknet vendors do.

>On the other hand, it is probably the most useful crypto if you actually want to use it as a real currency in exchange for goods in defi.

Yep, superior utility guarantees ever-growing demand as the shadow economy grows. And we all know what demand ultimately means for price.

>At the moment the xmr economy is 90% illegal goods and services though.

Insanely bullish, transnational organized crime is literally a multi-TRILLION dollar industry.

>it's too damaged by it's reputation to ever see a larger scale use with the wider defi public.

DeFi is a meme and will be regulated into insignificance. Buying/selling actual goods and services has stood the test of time.

>I may be dumb, but from this reasoning xmr is pretty much the only crypto I see less as pure speculation and investment and rather as a currency with actual use ability.

If all a crypto has going for it is speculative hype and mania then it lacks staying power and makes for a shitty investment.

Utility = staying power = bullish.
