Nah final chapter of the GFC. QE and zero bound rates are an old trick and China will be unwilling and unable to reflate global trade as they did over the last decade or so. I wonder how negative nominal rates in the US will work.

Just 3 days left before the clock runs out on those fucks in the state legislature to file bills. So I'll know at some point during the next 3 days how much my salary will go up later this year. Finally. They allocated up to 12% for raises. Just a mater of them punting out a percentage. I don't expect the full 12%. That'd be to much to hope for. 8% is more likely. (What was given out last year). Course nothing comes for free. I'm sure that our health ins costs will increase when the next enrollment time comes up in october. Hey everything else has gone up, why not that as well. (so more green sucked from the paycheck). Not knocking that though. What I pay in ins costs is nothing compared to if it was via private sector or the "obama care" option.

not a chance. policy makers always fight the last war they're not gonna let such a simple repeat. I mean, to be clear, tech stocks will probably get rekt still due to multiple contraction in a rising rate environment. But, I think the real concern is, how much fiscal spending (money printing) is the gov gonna do. Because if the answer is "not a lot" then cash is king. And if the answer is "build a gorillion dollars worth of highways, EV chargers, and/or military equipment lol" then cash is trasharino and this is a generational bottom in everything including Bigmacs.

Septa is exclusive : we get ALL the contracts by bidding , without sales staff. Septa needs security items for vehicles ?? Do you honestly think with a 4 year exclusive contract with Septa, they are going to purchase elseware ??? C'Mon.------Bottom line ,there are no new sales . We have Septa, we have NellC . If its a large purchase year ,we do well,if not we go down . : Get a sales partner.

Not great, especially after inflation: https://www.vanguard.com/pdf/ISGVEMO_122022.pdf

Broad market ETFs and mutual funds are fairly interchangeable if they're tracking the same thing (say, SPY and VFINX. Both track the S&P 500, which is an index of big US stocks.). A couple more useful ways of dividing things are by sector (financials, tech, utilities, energy, etc) and asset class (domestic stocks, international stocks, bonds, commodities, etc).

urgent care is cheaper if you're worried about cost, they can tell you if ur life's in danger or not then you can go from there. who knows they might even have remote appointments for an initial assessment.

if you have a real respiratory problem then by the time you know it will be too late. Happened to someone I knew in 2021 - his kids had to carry him to the ER and by then it was too late to save him, all because he didn't want to see a doctor.

>I took a drag from my cigarette and leaned back in my chair, surveying the /smg/ thread as it chugged along. The stock market, a fickle mistress if ever there was one. One minute you're on top of the world, the next, you're down in the gutter, wondering where it all went wrong.

>I'd seen it all before, of course. The big players making their moves, the small-time traders trying to catch a break, the tripfags getting doxxed. But the market had a life of its own, a beating heart that pulsed with its own rhythms and whims. And if you didn't know how to read those rhythms, well, you were bound to get burned.

>I'd been hired to investigate some suspicious activity in the market. A group of investors from a board called /biz/ had made some big moves, and my client smelled a rat. But as I delved deeper, I found myself getting sucked in, caught up in the fever of the market.

>It was a dangerous game, and I knew it. But there was something exhilarating about the way the numbers danced on the screen, fortunes made or lost in the blink of an eye, the anime girls, the momentum of the meme stocks. And I was in too deep to turn back now. I followed the money, chasing leads and hunches, trying to stay one step ahead of the game. But the market was a cruel mistress, and every time I thought I had her figured out, she threw me a curveball.

definitely Russia. Even if Putin manages to hold on for another few years he's old. and when he goes there's no backup, just civil war. China at least has a leadership structure that, while gutted, is nominally designed to smooth out the politics of succession. Brazil or one of the other South American countries are strong dark horse candidates.

I remember the ceo of JPM mentioning in an interview sometime last year something candid like "Did you know that Mexico has a secured supply chain? And the labor is cheaper [than China]."
Based on that alone, I'm considering Mexico over India. I wonder if some of the shits happening with the rail networks recently is a way to shake out weak investors so big players can accumulate more. Imagine have a transcontinental railroad that can collect resources from Canada, transport them to Mexico, then vend them to the US. Extremely good setup over the next 5-10 years for those companies.
In my work's DFSP (via Manulife), I have investment instructions to be like 70% international equity and 30% emerging market equity. If it's a retirement plan, I'm thinking like 20 years down the road here; the US cannot still be an economic powerhouse, or if it is, the ones propping it up will not be the same countries. Look at how big Japan was in the 70s and 80s, now it's shit economically. So in that plan, I'm hoping to get broad exposure to other shit, and with my own self directed things, I have EWW for Mexico exposure.

>To this day, nobody on biz can explain why crypto is the future
I would say that blockchain is a very strong technology that allows for decentralized processing and bookkeeping of various entities. Smart contracts can provide certain guarantees on said process. Inventory management, etc. CBDCs are coming out this year, so we'll eventually have to capitulate to the government and use them in some capacity (which is pretty ironic).
As for the value of current crypto? It has no intrinsic value. The price is based solely on supply and demand. Therefore, it's a trader's dream - it's the closest thing to trading pure price action.

You can, but by using blockchain you can maintain a generally immutable public ledger that can be useful for auditing and big data purposes (I say generally immutable here, because you can have >50% of the network validators set a new canon). Since it's supposed to be distributed, it can also have higher fault tolerance and also have built in redundancy.

So basically they're going to suffer a death of a thousand cuts as they keep fucking up and nobody will understand why. Also, they have local factories which would help with US protectionism.

You know I might try to go long SKYT / short INTC as a very viable pair trade. Gonna have to research that. Shame they only have 1-2 years of history but that's just go it goes

Specifically INTC fell for bindification. Turns out competing in the semiconductor game requires a particularly high IQ workforce and if your org is captured by jeet management you're fucked. They only care about hiring more jeets, who might well be very smart by jeet standards but a bunch of 115 IQ EEs designing your chips is just not quite gonna cut it when your competion is mainly east asian and european EEs who are 130+ avg.

Still, I think the short Intel trade is risky b/c USG will keep re-animating the corpse. Any US based semis will be showered with gibs due to simmering conflict with Taiwan no matter how incompetent they may be or how much they refuse to do anything but import more of their village to Hillsboro.

I'm 614 and it's been interesting listening to the chatter over the years since INTC bought all of the Boomer farmland in neighboring Licking County and announced the new facility. All I can picture is H1B pajeets and filthy chinks from tOSU moving out that way, which is tricky business in itself because the Columbus sprawl moving that way is already contaminated with coloreds. I've always assumed INTC is on the ESG nonsense and picture a middling company that's still going to be favored my investors due to brand recognition. I've been thinking about playing the wheel for a while but it's in the back of my head that the company will eventually drop below 20.
SKYT is also on my shopping list, mostly because it's so new it doesn't appear to be contaminated yet, although it's hard to picture a Minnesota company not succumbing to the cucked nonsense eventually. Interesting times we live in.

Nobody is saying we cant have a bull run, what people are saying is that weve been overbought since the end of January and are due for at least a brief pullback down to possibly either the SPY daily chart 200 SMA or the top of the downward channel from 2022 before we take off on another leg upwards to new YTD highs. Either way, there needs to be a pullback of some sort, especially with the abysmal inflation reports this past week. If you're Bullish, you should hope for a healthy pullback anyways to confirm the trend before continuing upwards- it shows that the upwards move is healthy and strong and confirms its direction, and not just mechanical bullshit like short squeezes and gamma squeezes. This market just cant shoot straight up forever in a vertical V line, especially as the Dollar starts to creep higher too, there needs to be a pullback sooner rather than later at some point.

It's a numbers game, though. You have to be able to endure a long series of losses (8 to 10) because mathematically, even the best system WILL hit those losses eventually. If you trade 2% risk and eat 6 losses in a row, you're down 11%. If you trade 5% risk, it becomes a 26% loss, which is very difficult to recover from. You have to maintain a certain risk/reward to succeed long term. I'm confident in that, because even if I'm at a net loss over the last 3 years, I haven't been a retard that got blown up on leverage or throwing all my money on one ticker, like many anons here have.

It could also be argued that its a mathematical concept that if you purchase options with a equal weighted capped losses of a few hundred bucks per trade throughout a diverse basket of stocks, one of them will strike it big enough eventually to not just erase all the losses from the bad trades but profit overall substantially in the thousands of percent and push your portfolio deep into the green. Perhaps even two options trades will strike it big and bring your portfolio even further deeper into the green.

Basically what I was going to say was that options are efficient and a spread is the net greeks. If you expose yourself to long delta, you lose on theta. If you hold until expiry, you remove vega risk, etc.
Ultimately, I said that you have to make sure the risk justifies the return. There's nothing wrong with 0dte deep OTM options as long as it's optimized.
For example, if you have a 5% win rate for a $2 option, you better be damn sure you get a $40 payout (20x reward). That's your breakeven point for this strategy in terms of math. How often does an option pay out 2000%? Not often, but I've seen it reported on Yahoo.

Can't believe that there were so many of them throughout our history. Even had shit like 33 AD with Roman loans and 692 with Byzantine coin exchange shit. I bet 2023 will be added to the list.

Dutch anon here. Should I buy treasuries? Got a lot of money in the bank doing nothing and I am not too positive about the economy for the coming years.

3 years at 4 something percent a year is not good but it is better than 0.01 interest I get at my scammy bank now. Might buy a house in three years to it aint terrible.

In the short term it sure is, but give it 20 years, lots of hours (10 years if you feed it money and make it cash flow negative) , and it becomes like a giant dividend portfolio.
