For the non fudders, this year will be choppy but link has some key developments that should allow it to perform similarly to what you saw in 2019. That being said, once you see unemployment start rising and the fed considers lowering rates, exit your positions and buy the inevitable dip once a recession is declared. Markets usually have a “Goldilocks period” when terminal rate is reached and before rates are dropped. That’s when I expect link to perform its best.

This is another reason why I know for a fact there are organized and paid FUD campaigns against LINK. Besides the fact that people who don't own an asset spend time in forums talking about something they have no stake in for hours on end. Its not even a conspiracy. This is a well known and documented phenomenon that has taken place in the stock market as well.

Its known as "Short and Distort" or "Short Ladder Attacks."

In the few scenarios where people DO come together to actively discuss how much they hate something, they never do it where the supporters congregate. Those kinds of people do not want any counter arguments, they want an echo chamber of likeminded individuals.

A solid example is r/buttcoin. Many of those people are simply just coping because they either lost money from buying BTC through their own bad decisions, believe its a climate disaster, or knew about but didn't buy when it was sub $100.

People who congregate on /biz found out about LINK through the 4th Industrial Revolution and from other anons posting their research. The implications and value of smart contracts plus bringing real world data that is off chain on chain made sense as the next necessary progression of blockchain technology. If blockchain is to succeed its HAS to have oracles.

I don't mind counterarguments against LINK, everything around it is all speculation. I'm betting that the Chainlink team will deliver on everything they have outlined in the white papers and be an integral part of helping various institutions transition their legacy infrastructure seamlessly to blockchain based solutions.

This is a surprisingly effective tactic though. If you buy spot and hold you really can't lose. Its different than say leverage. Through margin trading accumulators with lots of liquidity can temporarily dump the price to liquidate you and take your assets.

If you don't play that game their only option is getting you to sell. Most people on here have a lot of conviction of the likely success Chainlink will have and as result have strong hands.

The design of the SDL protocol economics is bad, which is as expected from someone who never tried to have a discussion with their initial ICO investor about unsustainable dividends paid before the gas costs.

The main value of the SDL token should be to enable people with LINK to stake, but I don't see this implemented.
It allows you to stake some LINK, but what happens after it is staked and for example you didn't stake your allocated proportional portion?

I have a few ideas about ways of improving the token economics for Chainlink.

They need to make it as easy as possible to use for boomers thus had to enable fiat and other token support for payment, but they could implement what ETH is doing.
For example a 5 or 10% "burn" tax node operators have to burn in LINK for every transaction independently of the payment method.

It would be then possible to use this burned LINK for controlled weaker inflation like ETH which could go back to Chainlink development or to the community and node pool for example in a specific form.
This mechanism may be a bit inflationary until the network grows more, and could then become slightly deflationary like ETH.
Another solution is to directly move those 10% burned fees tokens as tax without burning them to the contract for example making the staking payments in some way. This would allow the Chainlink network to generate its own income source from the network usage in the future without being dependent on dumping tokens and is more sustainable on a very long term.
It can also be used to better control where some of these fees go.
This increases the complexity of the token economics, but it removes the problem of the token not being needed for transactions.

The issue with this is that it may create an issue with the US government, but if they managed to solve the staking issue they should be able to solve this too, and they should be thinking more global.
The US is not the entire world and is a collapsing empire which will become a lot less relevant in a decade.
If they really have to they can create a two tier solution like Binance.
A Chainlink.US shitty and inferior version and a Chainlink.international version outside of the US.
