NFT Maxis trying to mint the latest craze and subsequently now clogging up the BTC network and rendering the token almost useless since it takes forever to have payments go through.

GG guys can’t believe this is how Bitcoin dies.

garbage idea. NFTs are for money laundering, they are designed to go to 0. no one gives a fuck about NFTs on bitcoin or distributed NFTs.

what did it for me is the NFT's don't even have the image data on chain. it's a link to a third party server that can go down.

how many NFT image servers have gone down?

There was some bitcoin update which opened the door to dump data in a BTC transaction. Together with that, some folks came up with an enumeration scheme of satoshis (the units actually used on the Bitcoin network). It's like a quartuple or something. Together you can dump some data, tie it to some sat and say you move this around. Suddenly a sat is tied to a jpg and people pay 9 BTC for that sat.

I can also give you a rundown on ordinals in mathematics. That's close to my heart but BTC canibalizes/trivializes that term. Basically any arithmetic theory would be able to encode those ordinals. Basically this level:

ledgers are not designed for blobs. stop trying to make it a thing.
