University of College London published a report comparing the energy consumption of Proof-of-Stake networks, showing Hedera uses the least energy under high network use.
Hedera also currently leads all networks in active tps currently, all from one enterprise use case that went live recently (Avery Dennison's atma.io).
Later this year the entire US coupon system is expected to start transitioning over to new 8112 coupon format that uses Hedera as the base layer. https://www.thecouponbureau.org/

Based on this Hedera has a strong chance of achieving wide adoption, by companies that are energy conscious, and people end up using the network without realizing it. Example is atma.io where someone can scan a QR code on their clothing to see the history of it. This will trigger a transaction on the Hedera network but they are unaware of it. And when someone redeems the new coupon. This will trigger a transaction on the network but the user does not care what is happening under the hood. That is how mainstream adoption can be achieved.
