There was some banter last thread about stacks' global standings. Here's my take...
>For entertainment purposes only!
By the numbers I've chosen to accept, it seems that you'd need:
>287.17 ozt of silver and
>76.611 ozt of gold
to be in the top 1% of the global population owning each.
>This assumes everyone who owns PMs (including you) has the same amount...
... and of course is not realistic - most have no hope of owning anything (so your competition is more concentrated), and even among those who own you have no idea how your stack compares (don't forget to include jewelry, tableware, art...). Mostly though, this argues that the classic "you need 60 ozt to be in the top 1% of silver stackers" should be reassessed.

Those numbers are kind of depressing - I was surprized by the amount of gold. Don't like those numbers? The screen capture has instructions on how to re-create the sheet, and cites my data sources. Knock yourself out and plug in your own numbers. There are basically three spots (cells with red borders) to do it: population (or PM owners if you prefer to enter that), available silver, and available gold.

Row 2 are ozt values you enter manually - e.g., your stack - and by trial and error Row 3 shows the amounts needed to be in the top 1%. In my own sheet I link the Row 2 cells to my inventory sheet so it's always up to date.

Rows 2 and 3 aside, I think the rest of the sheet/table simply gives an idea at a glance of how other stack amounts rank. The increments in this example multiply (not add) the preceding row's ozt by 1.5 (the value in cell K2), and of course you can change either the operation and/or the factor.

This all conflicts heavily with my goals for obtaining cash and building up a dividend portfolio. Luckily my trading account has some good plays and enough shares that I can generate some income by trading/collecting dividends and worry about PMs and Cash with my wagie cagie checks.

Oh ok then we agree with each other, and my earlier comment was in reference to people back in the day falsely perceiving silvers abundance by not knowing how much the human race needs silver to keep a modern society with modern technology running. I agree silver is severely under priced when you look at how much is available and how much it is used in the modern world as compared to the past.

None in particular. I've completed the 12-year PAMP ChingChong Lunar Year animals, and am now concentrating on 'pretties' because my stack is large 'enough.'

My stack is incredibly aesthetic imo. I have a completed monster box of rounds. All of my gold and pt are pamp and I am filling up a 25count case of assays of various sizes. I have plenty of boxed up ten ounce bars. Three 20ct tubes of Morgans. Makes me hard thinking of getting these boxes completed, very comfy goals to complete. Of sift through for anything of especially high numismatic value and maybe sell those to buy more shiny. Beyond that, since you clearly dont mind the coins, just use the "silver is silver" mindset and keep them. That shouldn't be an obscenely large amount of junk anyway.

First time I bought 1/4 ozt gold it cost $495, tax free if $500. I asked if I could buy anything silver related for $5 to bump it up and the dealer threw in four 90% half dollars. Means a lot to be a pleasant face.

They will be passed down generation to generation until they become relics of the old world whose true meaning is lost, that cause a new religion to spring forth in honor of the old worlds gods and heros so mighty they were etched in to metal and carried by everyone as a constant reminder of their holiness.

I hope you all have a blessed weekend. Do you put your silver in plastic cases or in pouches/chests?

thanks anon.

my 1oz silver is circle-shaped and goes in tubes. 10oz bars stay in the wrapper or in a box. all my gold is 0.900 so it's safe to handle; some is in a sovereign holder or the lids of the silver tubes, the big ounce goes in its own capsule.

>Anyone set any goals for the coming year? Stack size or maybe finish out a certain collection? I know it's only been a couple weeks but how's everyone's progress so far?
Get myself four more big ounces of gold to use up the 37mm capsules I've got sitting empty.
