The line I take to work is pretty cozy - only goes through wealthy (re: white) areas - and is really convenient, but whenever I take the other lines there's always some fuckshit going on and it's kind of fun to watch, especially when I'm not in a rush to get somewhere.

Not to mention is stupid cheap and easy to use. So much easier and cheaper than driving.

My grocery store is a straight 10 minute walk down a large tree-lined sidewalk with high visibility cross-walks past restaurants, salons, coffee shops, and residential. I am not even touching a car or bus or train. So by the time you get into your car and the heated seats start working I'm half way there, and it's also free exercise and sunshine if I'm going during the day. I like how dumb suburb-dwellers think it's a 30 minute bus ride to get to a fucking grocery store

I scrapped my car rather than put another grand into it for it to pass inspection. I was taking the bus anyways to work. 15 minute more or less between buses to go to work which I only have to to go to 2-3 times a week now with hybrid wfh so I'm paying less than $10 a week to commute. I can walk to a grocery store. Anything else you can buy with Prime. I make mid 70's (decent for a midsize Amerifat city). Any women that can't get over me not having a car because it doesn't really make sense for my situation can get fucked

I live in a major city and every US city has rich and poor areas which were set up many years ago, mostly based on the direction of the winds and where the industrial centers were (so smoke blows the opposite direction of the rich areas). I live in a rich urban area full of multimillion dollar houses, but it is still urban with access to public transit, walkable streets, restaurants, grocery stores, and is still high density in comparison to suburbs (though lower density than further downtown). Of course, if you live in the fucking ghetto city life sucks. Just like if you live in the ghetto in ANY other area in the country. Alabama for example has rural areas WITH NO SEWAGE SYSTEMS. That doesn't mean every rural area is bad. That shit is just as bad as the worst areas of Detroit for other reasons. But I believe wealthy urban areas are objectively nicer than wealthy rural areas because you get the best of both worlds. More space, more public infrastructure, art and entertainment investments (rich people love investing in museums and shit) and connections to poorer areas which frankly have more robust art and entertainment scenes because poor people are wildin and rich people are boring. I lived in suburban locations for most of my life, including rural locations for periods of time, and I understand the appeal but being in wealthy urban areas is the pinnacle for people that aren't shut-in anti-social NEETs and off-grid type folks. It's also legitimately just a healthier lifestyle because the public infrastructure for walking and biking as opposed to being a blob in a car.
