it's misplaced anger. The real problem are lenders who wont lend to those who want to construct modest apartment buildings. When was the last time you saw a new apartment building constructed that was like a 3 story walkup with 6 units? It doesn't happen anymore. Property developers only build massive 50-100+ unit apartments now, and they need massive financing to do this, and thus they need higher rents for the upkeep.

Combined with this, we have massive numbers of illegal immigrants each year, something like 1-2 million new people coming into this country each year. If there were no illegals, and regular immigration was just like 250k-500k per year, there would be more available housing as old people die off.

Zoning needs to be fixed so smaller, modest non "luxury" apartments can be built in adequate numbers to satisfy housing demand. We were able to do it in the first half of the 20th century, and it needs to happen again. Housing choices should not be limited to overpriced suburban single family homes or overpriced luxury apartments.

The issue is that the middle class and up would rather keep getting free money than solving housing, and government only cares about their opinion. People in government are those people who bought at least two or three extra apartments with 0 risk.
Solving it is easy, just allow renters to buy into property with a portion of every rent check. This is tried and tested, it works. You can even just allow loans of less than the total property value and add a portion of rent on top, steadily increasing their ownership of the property.
All this would allow the private secondary property rental market to keep existing for short term rent or whatever other situations where its practical and not fundamentally unfair.

People keep talking about wealthy foreign investors and Jews buying up all of the property, but the vast majority of single family houses are still bought by private citizens in the U.S. That hardly have a massive portfolio of houses. The issue is debt being too cheap for too long: Fed interest rates. That overinflated the price of housing and a lot of other assets as well. Supply has been stunted by zoning and other red tape. Now that rates are going up and housing prices are going down builders have no incentive to build more so prices are going to go right back up again. So we need to incentivize builders somehow one way or another, and we need to remove as many barriers as possible for building to get out of their way. Funny because zoning is a major source of the problem, yet most of you fucks don't want low income housing anywhere because "niggers will live here." Or "Muh property value".

You are all poor. You don't get a choice. I live in a shit hole with tons of Mexicans because I am not rich enough yet. That is my fate. I am not better than them, I live in the same shit hole they do. You need to take your lumps while you are poor, and work your way out.
