>XRP isn't practical
How so? Ripple is advertising the RippleNet network on which transactions are made by a lot of companies at the moment (AMEX being one of them). To transport funds across the network, the payment providers and banks can choose to auto-convert the currency into XRP for the duration of a transaction. This happens automatically with Ripple's auto-bridge system. XRP is not meant to be used in the way BTC was intended to be used. But it can be. And because a limited supply is circulating in the open market the price will inevitably rise.
I'm not saying XLM is going to stay low at all, but I just wonder what makes you think XRP isn't practical.

M.Sc. Finance here. The thing I don't get about this XRP becoming a financial currency is that if international banks where to implement an internal transaction coin, why the fuck would they want one that is also publicly available and thus subject to much stronger fluctuations and creates ample room for corruption?

Banks move big fucking amounts, they wouldn't want a short term intermediate currency that CRASHED every time a large amount of crypto where to be converted to cash. It'd make much more sense to use a internally developed crypto that could be regulated under common guidelines. I get that a public coin provides liquidity, but so could a internally developed coins well if the national treasuries took an active part in converting coin/fiat for the bank. There are so many market imperfection that could be circumvented if the bank just agreed to make their own and insert whatever regulations required.

Is there something I'm not getting?

Banks are going to have insane amount of Ripple, It's very, VERY unlikely they're going to source ripple from public exchanges.

But the fact Ripple is backed by banks, gives it legitimacy.

It's the same with Stellar, why are IBM and Walmart using it when it's volatile? It only really makes sense if they have their own massive stockpiles of it.

when im done riding a rocket and want to bail, if i bail into btc and sit and try to plan my next coin and bitcoin shits the bed and drops 15% like it did the other day, i lose money for doing nothing.

if i convert to usdt or usd and wait, i risk loss a lot less.

Ive been using this shitcoin for transferring between exchanges, bretty good, but there is no doubt this is not a rocket. Ripple will just flood the market with more XRP and it will be at least $.80 again.

Stop the "banks will use this hurr durr" shit because its not true. Banks will use ripple but not XRP. Get it niggers? Jews wont be using your filthy ass manipulated crypto.

Banks Ripple =/= Plebs XRP

Not FUDing or anything, the coin is pretty good, but you will get more money shorting than hodling.

>> No.5304090

Ripple has actual useful tech. Making it easier for banks and others to quickly transfer funds.
Hired co-president of Morgan Stanley, working with Amex, and 100+ other partners.
XRP eats itself when used even if it has the same market cap it will rise in price over time.
But yet XRP is a shitcoin because its centralized and not mineable, which the banks like.
I guess Ripple could IPO and kill XRP but who knows.

You're seeing the correction, BTC is going to the toilet, while XRP is overtaking it. That's the correction, for better or worse.

>traded eth for xrp yesterday
>traded xrp for btc today

So I'm glad to have more "money" than I did 24 hours ago, but I have no fucking clue what I'm doing besides getting lucky.

I got what I got, now I'm not gonna trade any more until I actually understand what the fuck I should be looking for on the various exchange spreads candlesticks/depth/wtf is MACD and why i shouldn't click the little x next to it.

understanding the tech behind crypto is so much easier than any of this shit.

Ripples long term plan is to replace the current SWIFT banking system with its own network. If they actually achive their goal this would put each coin at 600$ - 1000$ at maximum supply. 1600$ - 2800$ at current supply. Of course the USD will be near worthless by then and you will be counting your wealth in ripples. You will know you are rich when you see how little everyone else has. However this can take a few years.

SWIFT is way behind on this, and they're betting on Hyperledger, which is falling apart.
