Biggest paycheck of the year and after taxes, insurance, rent, 401k yada yada etc I have $300 left and was able to save 1k in a brokerage account. This is my best case scenario working 15 hours of overtime each week. what’s the fuckin point. If I can do this another 5 years I might be able to buy a house

You'll actually never catch up to the rise in housing prices over 5 years. You were supposed to make it in 2021, sit on cash until the 2023 housing crash and then buy. Thanks for playing goy.

Just ran a more realistic saving amount of $500 a paycheck. Sure I’ll be fine when I retire with over a million in my 401k, pension, and social security if I don’t get fucked more but what about the in between part.

5 years at $500 a check :/

I currently have about 10k cash and 10k in my taxable brokerage. Long term plan is to move somewhere cheap where houses aren’t 600k. I really don’t know what’s worse, paying some boomers retirement while they vote to shit all over me or getting a loan and paying some fucking bankers cocaine binge with their large noses

The only reason I have any money is because I put everything I had into ETH when people told me it was dead back in 2018-2020. You have to do something like this. My suggestion if you don't like crypto is to put everything into TQQQ and hold on to it until 2025. The fed will eventually pivot and tech stocks will rebound hard.

You have to do something uncomfortable to make it nowadays. Everyone will tell you that you are stupid, or clueless. Don't listen to the FUD. It is your only way out.

There's no way around it anon - you need to make more money. At the age of 30 I'm finally at the point where I'm getting comfortable and I can just exist. House is at 2.5% so I'll pay that off as slowly as possible. Bought my dream car - new m240i that's financed at 3% so that also has no point in paying it off early. My 401k gets matched at 4% and I contribute 6%, I max out my HSA and IRA every year. I also put $250 per month into my brokerage. This is on a salary of $80k after grinding my way up from $48k eight years ago. Shit takes time but you will get there eventually.

Too risky for me, I only buy sp500 now. Lost (small) amount of money on both crypto and options

>>52984293
Sadly I’m nearing my cap. Currently making 30 an hour and my cap at my job is 35. I have no real skills besides work ethic and I’m physically strong. I have two side hustles but they are nothing to working my day off at overtime rate.

Then you're never going to make it. Don't come here on your soapbox and complain if you aren't going to do anything about it. Your other reply to the other poster is yet another weak ass response.

You need to get enough skills through school or trades to make at least $100k a year. Then you live like a poor person and go all in on risky shit for 5 years. Cash out, wait until the fed stops tightening, and repeat. It's not rocket science. You should by "The Book of Money", it talks about how the business cycle is almost entirely controlled by the central bank and one can profit from it by using long time frames and making investments at the right times.

I've got about 3k leftover after paying all bills/expenses and investing in my IRA yet it will still take 6 years to save for a down-payment on a home in my area (good thing I'm already in a condo at least).

Never had a job? Gross is your tax rate before deductions ranging from taxes, health insurance, pension, 401k, etc. Net pay is what your check that hits your bank and is significantly smaller depending on where you live. I do 10 percent to a roth 401k which is a decent chunk but my take home for every dollar I earn is under 60 cents.

>>52985526
I’m ok with risk, most would say a 100% sp500 profile is too risky, but throwing it all in in crypto or leveraged etfs is too retarded for me. I lost about 3k doing options. Not a huge amount but enough to show that it’s way to risky. I personally think crypto has very few real world uses. If Bitcoin ever drops below 5k I’ll pick up one but never any of the other.

My ATH was 1.5MM, lost 500k. Down more in stocks, just chilling. 3k is nothing. You have to take risk to make real money.

Yes. It’s a bunch of journal articles and a little outdated but it’s a very good read. Everything they say particularly about the fed is still true.
