depends on you, for me it would be enough money where I don't ever have to worry about money again. 2 million could work but $5 Million would be perfect.

Currently a fresh out of uni poor fag, but I think 200k annually would be sufficient to alleviate any sort of financially incurred stress and also enough to have nice things. Heck, I think I could live a happy lifestyle and support two children and a wife w/ 200k annually.

Enough to pay for basic needs like food and shelter for my entire family, then a little extra for some good meals and paying people to help with my personal projects (like hiring people to help make graphics for my game). Don't need hundreds of millions, just want enough to have unlimited free time and support a family while working on my own things.

~$75k
according to one study
probably $100k now, due to inflation

people think that until you actually have to do it.

you don't want you kids to go to shit school do you? average house price with good schools is easily 1m+ in every major metro. 200 a year just became 500.

It's all about safety net anon.
I can live comfortably with 10k, 20k top a year. But it's all moot if I don't have the assurance that those 10k will always come next year, and the next year, and the year after etc.

Hence why I need at least $1M in the first place

Money makes happy people happier and miserable people content but it can't buy you happiness.

a good woman, some kids who aren't fucking retarded, and a job you don't hate is all anybody needs.

$50,000 passive income a year

or

$200,000 income a year from a job

That's literally all it takes to make me happy. Until then, I will be poor and unhappy.

I tend to agree that if you keep spending low, 200,000 USD is a good passive income to be happy. This implies that you dont have a family to support. Income would need to be around 300k if you want kids and be happy. This would imply that you need 5 million USD in a money market account or treasuries yielding 4% annually. That would get you 200k a year with no effort. If you don't own a home, you would need 1-2 million additional to buy a nice house outright. So call it 7 million for peak happiness. Not so much money that it kills your soul, but just enough to really be comfortable and to do what you want to do. In my opinion anything over 10-20 million dollars is excessive and degenerate.

>> No.52624658

Money can't bring happiness. It can though make life easier. You see it all the time; rich fucks drowning in drug addictions, etc. Easy way to get an idea of how much you need; take current expenses for a year (everything). Double that amount for inflation. Now you have a good idea of how much you need. By retirement time your actual expenses may be lower due to lack of debt (no c.c or house payments for example)

wouldn't you feel MUCH happier not working something you're lukewarm about? i don't hate my job but I cant wait to retire and just work on stuff I enjoy like music production.
With that said I prefer making good money doing something lukewarm than barely getting by doing something I "love"

The whole point of supporting my wife (i.e. ensuring she doesn't need a job) is so that she can homeschool my children. If I cannot afford to keep my young kids away from indoctrination in globohomo institutions, I don't deserve kids
