I've been thinking about something for a while now. You know how Gold is being bought up by the bankers, and how brics might be prepping a Gold/commodities backed currency. I'm wondering if a lot of that banker Gold will cushion the impact of the brics declaration. Eyeing that spreadsheet of how much ozt of Gold per person i'm wondering if they dump a bunch of that Gold on the market for monetary purposes if the price wouldn't actually shock down while silver price stays mostly the same or rises up slowly.

Any thoughts on this scenario?

If, as seems increasingly likely, some coalition of the BRICS and others issue a gold-backed trade and reserve currency (something the banks seem to be anticipating), there are a couple ways it could go.

The new currency could replace the national currencies of the coalition countries. That would require each country to convert its existing fiat currency into the gold currency based on the ratio of their gold to their currency outstanding.

The coalition also might issue a gold currency independent of their existing currencies. The existing currencies would then have to float against gold.

Another possibility is a Breton Woods type pseudo standard where the coalition countries redeem their currency in gold only among themselves.

I think in any event, non-coalition currencies will either have to float against the new gold currency or essentially join the system and back their own currency at the same rate as the coalition currency. This would be a resumption of the Latin Monetary Union and the Franc. A specific mass of gold would become the world's money regardless of what people call it or who issues it.

One way or another, there will be a new evaluation of gold against ALL currencies if any country issues a gold currency. And that means the gold in your stack will take on the new value. And it is almost certain to be dramatically higher than it is now because existing fiat currency exists in such huge quantities compared to physical gold. I did some rough calculations once based on the yuan and estimates of Chinese gold reserves and determined that an ounce of gold would need to be valued at something like the equivalent of $20,000 to back existing yuan. And that figure used the most generous estimates of Chinese gold reserves.

Comically wrong.
The paper-ponzi has been the biggest wealth-extraction scheme in town for the last century. Maintaining the grift causes distortions in the real world, and the modus operandi of the grift is to take real commodities, labor, and savings and spend it and replace it with an IOU. All of Americans' pent up purchase power is being funneled into buying over priced stocks, and bonds. Even insurance is nothing more than a piece of the puzzle that has citizens buying into the ponzi to help the system maintain itself. The fact is, none of this pent up purchasing power can translate into real-world wealth and we are all sitting on massive sums of financial paper that really doesn't translate into the real world. Only by the degrading effects of inflation are we also compelled into handing over our capital to the banks to chase a little bit of yield. The way to avoid this is to trust that shortages are inevitable as the ponzi system is predicated on exponential functions. The farther along we go governments and banks have to give exponentially more loans/spending to prop up a stalled out economy. The REAL CAPITAL is what will survive the paper-ponzi-lolocaust.

You should be able to buy generic gold bars close to spot. Its easier to get gold close to spot that silver. The bigger the bar the better, anything more than an ounce, you should be able to get very close to spot. Your spread should be 3% or less. The global system lasts on a timeline that is multigenerational, so expect it to take a long time and expect those in power to try and maintain the facade for as long as they can.
In the absolute worst case scenarious the whole fucking thing collapses in scandal to where none of is actually own anything we think we do. We are also faced with the notion that resource nationalism sweeps the globe as nations try and leverage up their natural resources in order to maintain their purchasing power. Nationalization of mines etc could be on the table. A massive default on USTs could have foreign governments nullify foreign ownership etc.
With all that said, if your stack is large enough it will be worth it to own commodity producers anyway.
I wouldn't count on Btc to have any functionality in the coming world of scarcity. When the claims to wealth so outweigh what actually exists in the real world people won't have a need for digital currency. It will be absolutely ridiculous and with FTX we can already see governments/SEC/GG/Jews trying to destroy the viability of these alternatives.

I feel like it could go either way, 0.75 rate hike and silver plummets and cheapies are on the menu, 0.50 and no cheapies for years.

Could be wrong but this is what people that know their shit tell me. So I'll probably hedge my bets and get a couple tubes before the 15th (when it dips a bit) and a couple after.

Also worried about how bad things could get this winter if we have blackouts and shit surely the pound will go down/metals up?

I provided the context for as to why silver crabs for decades doing nothing and this time things will be different. We are sitting on a pile of bogus IOUs that is twice the size of the U.S. GDP and it underpins and props up the asset values of hundreds of trillions of dollars worth of assets including stocks, bonds, real estate, pensions, annuities, insurance, and our imports which amounts to $700BN worth of goods that are leveraged into trillions of dollars worth of jobs, taxes, etc. As well as energy which is necessary to prop up this nation of urban sprawl/trucking
And to top it off the system is predicated on EXPONENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
Do you need me to draw you a map as to the implications to what I just spelled out for you?

If the efficiency gain comes at too high a cost, you move backwards. If the cost is too high, you come up with alternative solutions. Would a slight loss in efficiency be a tradeoff for a significant reduction in cost? What if you could research new methods and materials that would be lower cost alternatives? One of the main talking points is the increasing scarcity of silver deposits. This would happen in the future inevitably as silver becomes even rarer. Same thing for all the other minerals needed to fully transform the world into something fully green.

That research and application of different materials may cost quite a bit in its own. For example, Liquid Flouride Thorium Reactors are the ideal tech for modern nuclear plants. The worldwide nuclear industry as a whole invested in Uranium based power plants over the last 80 odd years. The cost of switching over to thorium is greater than the benefit of doing so. Similarly, I assume(as I'm mostly talking out of my ass here) that the benefit of switching over to one of silvers near family metal analogues would be great as well.
