LEAPS are still fine. You just need a ticker with sufficient depth that you can buy them and get 3x-5x leverage without being Jewed on spreads.

And obviously they're better for plays where you have longer term conviction. Those are rarer at the start of this stagflationary crabfest.

I'm in the same boat fren. I'm seriously consider taking my money out of the market and locking it in GICs for a few years with the expectation that rape hikes will continue and house prices will fall (not expecting a crash, but a fall), allowing me to buy more house per $ with a higher rate on the mortgage which I will shovel money into for a yield of whatever the rates at the time are. It also helps that I'm Canadian and people will have to renew their mortgages in a minimum of 5 years from now, so if they locked in at 1.4% in 2020 they are about to be ABSOLUTELY rape hiked in 2025 when it's 5%-8%. That's when I buy.

But if you truly expect to make returns greater inflation you can use your tax advantaged account for a down payment (at least in Canada, idk bout burger) and grow your sum far more than sitting in cash or GIC.

I have GI issues that render me unable. If God ever sees fit to repair me I will have to find a new church because the one I grew up in got heemed by the new pastor and lost half membership. I have watched some of the services online and it is not recognizable as the same place, and not in a good way at all. Very sad. My great great grandfather was a founding member in 1906 and the baby grand piano plus a pew are in my grandfather's memory, and a pew is in my grandmother's. I had many great aunts, aunts, and uncles that were members through my childhood. I have a wooden cross necklace made of wood from one of the original 1906 pews. But, as sad as it is, I can't make an idol of that particular church, and am eternally grateful for the meaning it has already provided. I also wouldn't want to be in a UMC church anymore anyway, but this one started as an old country Wesleyan congregation and it took a long time for the modernizing influences to start creeping in.

This could indeed be a factor but bear in mind that trading prices should adjust for that.
If they cannot pay out larger dividends, usually the trading prices should drop to a level that evens out the lack in dividend payment.
I'd guess that TLT is way overpriced for what they are paying out monthly at the moment and how high actual interest rates are at the moment.

Because the fund holds bonds bought when the yield was lower. If you buy a bond with a lower yield than the current yield you will buy it at a discount, the same is true for TLT. For example, if today you bought a bond yielding 2.5% you would buy it at a discount so that when it matures you will get a total yield equivalent to the current yield. >pretend to be good and nice because you're afraid of god's wrath
Not really, I am very open about being corrupted by sin. Everything I try to do towards goodness is tainted with selfish and sometimes outright evil motives for which I am deeply shameful and aware that only through God's mercy and grace will I be let into His kingdom where He will at some point rid me of those illnesses of the heart and mind.
>be under god's wisdom but yet still suffer because it's his plan
>his plan is for you to suffer so you can worship him to save you from this suffering

>>ignorance is sin. knowledge is salvation.
Ultimately yes, the trick there is not leaning unto one's own understanding as to which is which. In this world, for example, it is very common to have a simple minded person that is far more ultimately knowledgeable than one with a head full of sophistry, none of which is rooted in the actual ultimate essential Truth.

Market is in relief rally as CPI showed a single print where inflation was going down and is only at 7.7%, on that day the nasdaq was up 7% and we have pretty much crabbed since, bounding off SPY $400-$390.

Market is predicting a 50 bepis point rate hike into a 25 bepis in to pausing or reversing rates. Many posters seem to think this is wrong and that the FED will continue rape increases until morale plummets and are taking short positions expecting this rally to turn down.

Some posters think we will be reaching all time lows at the start of the new year, while others believe US debt cannot maintain high rates and the FED will HAVE to lower rates sooner rather than later.

There hasn't been any decent sounding positions lately, with uncertainty of the future and pajeet scams muddying the water. Due to the opaque state of the market some anons have decided to go in to JEPI or other covered call ETFs to get a consistent monthly yield until more promising plays show themselves.

From a big fan of boomer investing, there are only a couple of things you should know:

1. You must have faith that the market will continue to grow over the course of your investment horizon. If you're not comfortable with this thought, then stocks are not for you.
2. In any given year only about 50% of fund managers are able to beat the market
3. Although there are some standout managers, in general there is very little correlation between fund managers that beat the market in one year vs the next.
4. Even those standout fund managers will almost all lose against the market over a long enough time horizon, like 20 or 30 years.

With that in mind I would strongly recommend you only buy mutual funds as you will get more returns than the majority of day traders for absolutely no work whatsoever.

Which seems super strange to me because that was like peak "Nintendo is over" attitude. Anybody know what's up with that? And what do you think the stock split for Nintendo and steady decrease in volume since Switch release might mean? I work in a strategy team so my daily work is in large part dedicated to determining the efficiency of different businesses based on various different metrics, and we also make recommendations on long term strategy for the firm like which businesses they should be growing and which ones they should be shrinking.

What I like the most? Honestly the people I work with are extremely smart and have a very wide range of knowledge, so I think this is a good environment for me to be in, especially early in my career. We also do a fair bit of data analysis in python which is something I'm happy about - I think that's an important skill for most people to pick up.

What I like the least is more about the fact that I work for a huge company than my specific team. Tons of red tape and bureaucracy, hundreds of abbreviations and acronyms specific to my company with no documentation explaining what they are, etc.

Will there be another rally before, I have seen people mention Christmas rally.
I have 71k € invested, 14k in cash ready for investing.

I am down on all but 3 positions I have (6k € in the red), sold AT&T + TROWE-Price + Starbucks for a small profit.
Hopefully I would load of my 3M stock (stupid gamble, chief legal officer is selling so ofc Im a bit worried) and some other I stupidly ran into during the Christmas rally.

Now Im thinking I want to sell in green but that really might not happen, 3M might fuck me real nice. And sell bunch of other stuff I am not 100% about and then buy in early 2023 for a lower price if the market goes tits up

The santa rally is when algos and bulls are buying on low volume and there is little resistance. People are on vacation and don't feel like trading. When vacation ends they come back and sell/rebalance portfolios for a new quarter. This is also why there is often a pump in july (3rd quarter start) and october is good too (4th quarter start). September and may/june are bad (3rd/2nd quarter end). If it's the end of the quarter it will reverse the direction of the end of the previous quarter, usually, as folios must be reorganized.
