Military in the US is basically a socioeconomic program. It sucks for a couple years, but they pay and train you, then you can go into the private sector and get a good job as a "veteran". Just don't be a retard and seek combat positions. 95% of the military is never in direct danger of anything, it's just being a government employee on the dole.

Some places offer training grants / apprenticeships for certain things in demand as well. Typically these training programs are free, unpaid and a couple months.

If you want to get your foot into the door somewhere quick, just lie on your resume and put down friends or paid strangers (who will record themselves in calls) as references. Lying about working retail for 3 years at a closed down shop or something is no big deal.

Otherwise there's some easy, couple week certificates you could take that lead to jobs; security, butcher, basic care, etc. Most of these cost around $500 to obtain.

Get a job at a nearby airport that isn't overly busy working as a fueler. On good days they barely do any work and get paid the whole time. Work full time and use all of your free time and money working on a commercial pilot certificate. Find a flying job or continue training to become a flight instructor. You need 1500 hours to become an airline pilot, starting pay 45k. You will be so busy that you'll have the perfect excuse to remain being anti social while still impressing people. If you have any medical issues this plan may not work, especially if you are on medication.

Either that or become a cop.

basic accounting is easy to get into
in UK you just do AAT level 2 which takes a couple months then you can work as an entry accountant/book keeper and work your way up higher while your employer pays for further training. im sure there is something similar in the US.
