I worked for Facebook between 2014-2018. Worst days of my entire life were spent working there, they really emphasize how amazing it is to work there while it isn’t. They pleasure you with free food, a bicycle and other fancy goodies which is nice but at what cost? Have a personal life? Say goodbye to that. Like sleeping? No more of that you’re on call 24/7. You hate working with everyone around you but you can’t escape them, they’ll be all who you will ever hang out with the entire time your there, if you’re not socializing with your colleagues you are obviously a detriment to the team and you will be ostracized at every chance. We would be ordered to “pep and power” talk to our team, it consisted of giving 10 Criticisms and 5 compliments, if you couldn’t give that many you would be required to make it personal and talk about their struggles they need to work on. If you have any secrets they’ll know about it and use it against you. I hated working there I still have nightmares of dance party’s to “blow off steam” at 3 am or the late night “inclusion lecture” where they would invite a black or minority to discuss their own personal struggle and then we would have to walk up to them afterwards to personally apologize.

You’d be surprised how easy it is, your phone speaks to Facebook thousands of times every minute, most phones have eye tracking which Facebook utilizes to put into an algorithm which can pretty accurately determine what your thinking about. Just look in the right markets, Colorado and NY have mandatory salary range requirements on job listings….ie they have to tell you the salary range before you apply.
All that you have to do is pass the interviews and they have to pay you at or above that minimum salary, they can’t turn you into a wagie dev.
There are plenty of small companies doing boring shit and plenty of opportunities to go fagman later if you really want to.
