Oh! If you are American then you need to worry about the Patter Day Trader rule. The PDT rules keeps you from making more than 3 day trades over a 5 day period if you have less than 25k in your trading account, if on a margin account. If you have a cash account you can make unlimited day trades, but you need to wait for "cash settlement" before you have access to your money again. A good youtube search on PDT rules should help guide you around that issue and explain it all.

If you can't handpick stocks and beat the market, you might as well just dump it into a fund. Better to get 8% a year than to lose it to inflation or your own bad choices.

>VTSAX: Vanguard total market return
>VTIAX: Vanguard international fund
>VBTLX: Vanguard bond

I would probably favor the bonds > total return > international funds in that order right now. Like I said above, cash is very good right now, so having bond exposure is a strong play. International markets and even domestic markets are still pretty risky until the FED pivots or the market crashes. Something like 100/50/250 until 2023 or 2024, imo.
Or maybe reassess market conditions every 3 months or so and see if you need to tweak the allocations.

Everything's getting heemed relative to USD (except shekels of course) during global downturns, everyone wants to hold world reserve currency. NZD volume is tiny so it moves faster on global swings like this. But long term it has a good macro outlook (stable govt with relatively strong financials) so it recovers consistently well also.

Note that this is the same total amount deposited ($144,400), but having safe, consistent gains over the long term (and avoiding drawdowns) is crucial. You can literally make over 3x as much money long term if you're not stupid about it and have proper investing discipline.

These numbers account for inflation, but if you're smart, you'd find a way to add $25/month for each year that passes. You'd put down $275,650 that way, but the returns are just so much better:

>6% APR, 2% inflation: $650,405.00
>8% APR, 2% inflation: $921,487.15
>10% APR, 2% inflation: $1,339,523.26
>12% APR, 2% inflation: $1,993,322.62

Personally I just dca it with a portion of my paycheck each week and don't really worry about rates. If you have a lump sum to invest and can get decent returns from the US market immediately then buying now would be the better option. Hard to say how long it'll be before the exchange rate recovers so you'd have to accept the uncertainty and opportunity cost for the extra 5-15% ish you might get from waiting.

That would be January 2038.
It is the moment that 32-bit Unix systems will have their clocks reset to zero, which can cause all sorts of inconsistencies (for example, calculated time differences suddenly become huge negative numbers, encryption certificates are suddenly expired).
These systems by then will be used mostly in older embedded hardware, like control circuits of nuclear power plants, flight control radars, navigation satellites, on-board computers of aircraft, switching of electricity grids, you get the idea.
Most computers you can buy today, already have 64-bit processors that are not affected.

I have been a perma bull throughout this entire downturn and will continue to be. I am just depositing more money now then previously. I am a slurper. I am an acoomelator. I am going to make it. FED will pivot like they did after WWII and do enough QE to make inflation remain hot while burning away US debt in nominal terms. The people of the US are in some of the best financial positions in history while the government is unironically going to go bankrupt if these rates are kept due to debt/gdp and the renewing of their debt at these new (fastest rate hikes in history btw) rates. Inflation is an equal tax that's not called a tax, the people would slaughter politicians at this point if they tried to add a tax that effected the poor more than the rich, so implement a tax that's not called a tax. Expect massive spending to continue on "things that matter" like infrastructure, green energy, war, paying off student loan debt etc. Republicans will make their own reasons to spend. I have remained silent for some time, but it is now when I bring out my favorite straw and slurp until I'm a frikken epic chonker!

So I merely pay my cheap ass loan payment and let the KO shares bag for me.

Yes
not only is it a rumor, but multiple high ranking Chinese figures have explicitly stated that it is not true and reiterated the zero covid policy
with that said, if it was true, it would look exactly the same - they would deny deny deny up until the very last minute when it was announced
In my opinion, gave the market makers an excuse to kill all the premium on Friday, with a reasonable "fall guy" for the day, so it didn't look completely batshit and covers their tracks a bit
"Oh, you thought it was weird that the market pumped 2% fell 2% and pumped 2% again in several hours? Oh it was because of China news, not us - we didn't do that - it was because the market was unsure about the China rumor!"
I would not be surprised if this week another very high ranking official comes forward to very harshly deny it and squash the narrative like a bug
Oh look - there's one now

Hardest addictions (for me) to break power rankings:
1. 4chan (streak of 1 day)
2. Alcohol (streak of 1 week)
3. Fapping (streak of 2 weeks)

5. Sugar/Soda/Candy (streak of years)

I failed No Alcohol November last night but No Nut November still going.

Not really sure why you think drug dealers are intelligent. Did you not hear about when they laced vape carts with vitamin e when they could have used literally anything else? CBD and Delta 8 distillate are less than $1 a gram and realistically no one would ever know if you cut a cart with that. Yet instead they went with something toxic to inhale.

You need to reconsider the depths of human stupidity, I'm going to assume that you're a smart lad yourself for even expecting people to act rationally, but the way the market is acting now is a great example of "smart" people putting their money on the line and still imagining a fantasy pivot. risk/viability is part of the problem but not all of it
people used to go balls deep into tech companies with two tiers of shares and no dividends. We love the tech CEO who brings massive growth and there's no need to have levers against him
except, how do you actually benefit from the cashflow of meta or tesla or google? What if elon decides that he'd rather grow his kingdom as large as possible, that he's never ever gonna pay dividends? If the value of a stock is the sum of all of its future cashflows, but what if the CEO isn't interested in ever taking money out and can't be fired? People are starting to remember that that's an issue to consider now that growth isn't so blindingly massive
vr succeeding doesnt help you if zuck is guaranteed to plow that money into his next whim ad infinitum

Whoever can deliver foveated rendering at decent form factor and cost, and integrated properly into graphics drivers on the software side (half of the challenge), and with close to 1080p equivalent PPI (around 4k per eye afaik), will cause VR to explode.
This is because at that point you are matching 2d panel clarity but your necessary graphics compute is actually lower than a fully rendered 2d screen, allowing for incredible vr experiences that beat the clarity of 2d panel gaming on mobile hardware.

Foveated rendering is the disruptor, but the key is integrating with the software at a low level, which hasn't been done yet.

Okay but this graph should go back to 2007 so we have a good comparison point. Why doesn't it go to 2007.
