Good question. It's to help understand the true underpinnings of the global monetary system.
Too many people have a very wrong idea of how it works because the media is shit and doesn't have a stake in educating people, schools are shit, universities teach bullshit economics, hell, even central bankers don't know about it (meaning the Eurodollar offshore banking system).
It's basically to inform and help people get the truth about the global banking/monetary system.

Why is it important to know? Because it's worth approximately $300-400 trillion, yes trillion, no one even knows the actual figure it could be way higher.
This is money that is moving through banks in the Cayman Islands, Cyprus etc.

No that's missing the point completely. The problem isn't the dollar or amerimutts (not saying they're not cunts, they are), it's having a global reserve currency that operates as an "old boys club". If it isn't the dollar, it'll be something else until money itself can return to the control of the people and not be run by a small group of cunts working in offshore/island jurisdictions.
There are many possible alternatives, what the best one would be isn't even clear yet. My choice would be silver (liquid enough that it could work as currency and has worked in the past). Others may argue for crypto.

As GFC showed, the eurodollar market is a credit extension of the Fed funds market and is now much more under the direct control of the Fed. The Libor fraud scandal really undermined the functioning of the market and it is still unclear what the new benchmark will be. Offshore dollar control is shifting back to New York from London. So the global funding market is much more under the control of US government than at any previous stage in history.
