Kek. More like Credit spreads both vertical and diagonal. Back spreads can help if you're nervous.

If you are bullish for years out on the underling that's not a bad strategy. Most people get into trouble when selling PMCC(long LEAPS short 30DTE calls type shit) where their short call has to be so far OTM as to be above cost basis, that if the stocks moves against them they haven't gained enough premium to cover the loss and get fucked.

Buy to close your short leg on vertical spreads at expiration Anon and on diagonal spreads if you do get a margin call why would you care? Just use your long the next trading day to close out a diagonal/ horizontal spread.
