You got me to thinking... How large would a cube of gold have to be to equal the US national debt at the current spot price?
According to the web site tracking national best, we owe $30,880,150,000,000 (30 trillion, maybe by the time you read this - it goes up fast).
That means a cube of gold weighing 17,983,897,269 ozt
30.71 meters (217 ft) on a side.
It helps put this image into perspective.

My grandfather gave me a silver eagle with my birth year when I was 7-8. Great gift idea for anyone with youngsters. Imagine the horror of being 60+ years old, fighting in ZOG wars only to see youth oblivious to all that has taken place. You know they are too young to understand what you want to tell them, and you fear that they may never know and all of the history may be lost forever. So you buy your grandchildren silver eagles so maybe they will ponder what it is, and why you would want to own it. And how our money has changed. How society has changed. etc.

They're more recognizable and trusted. You'll be fine selling generics back to any coin shop. But if there's a financial collapse and you want to trade something for silver, would you pick the guy who offers you 5 maple leafs or the guy who offers you 5 random generic rounds?

>> No.51366321

>What is the draw of those over generic rounds?
Government-issued coins can have an additional numismatic value over a current metal value. Of course, the rarer and more interesting a design, the better, and yet more if they're parts of series and more if popular series.
Maples, eagles, etc. are more easily recognized by the generally ignorant people, and more so if the coin is the local country. So though they may never grow much in numis value, Canadians should carry maples, Burgers eagles, Bongs Britannias, etc. if they expect to sell to local rubes.
Generic stuff might be re-produced after years of no production. The Nordic Creatures series from JM Bullion/Provident is an example. Governments have coins that may have the same pattern, but genuine numisfags care about the year and where it was minted, etc. though a few gov't coins don't have a date stamp, and I think those are just fiat coins (Sacagaweas, for example).

I have a dilemma, I bought a PAMP T-rex coin as a birthday present for my sister in law last year for 100 leafs, because she likes T-Rexes.
Now it's worth nearly 300 leafs, likely due to inflation and numisniggers. It seems like some sort of faux-pas to give my sister in law something worth so much, I think it's more than what I got my wife for her birthday. Am I overthinking this? This strikes at the heart of the crypto problem. Essentially, all of this banking complexity, computers, algorithms, central banking, is doing nothing more than obfuscating the pretty simple problem with banks that have plagued them since the beginning. In the old days, you would deposit your gold and be issued a receipt and the risk is the banks issue far more receipts than they have gold and a "bank run" reveals a shortfall in capital (gold).
The creation of a central bank prevents this because when all of the bank-notes come from the same system then they can essentially bail each other out instead of one single bank being susceptible to a bank run. So instead of a bank run affecting only a small group of people, essentially bank runs happen all of the time and every single person who holds dollars ends up eating tiny little fractions of the losses as they are distributed to everyone via dollar dilution.
This time, however, the losses are so massive that very large chunks of your purchasing power will evaporate because there are so many bad debts/notes/bad collateral/leverage. The only play to make this time around is to be outside of the banking system for when the losses are distributed, and essentially use your capital to BUY back into the banking system once everything is fixed. The central banks own gold, and not crypto. If we all collectively suffer losses from a bankrupt banking system, then crypto holders will not be able to recapitalize themselves as they will be just as poor as everyone else. Gold however, is tier 1 banking capital and will be able to command purchasing power. It is unclear what kind of purchasing power, if any, crypto will control.

Look into gun safes, they're not that expensive (like $300 or so) and heavy enough that nobody can casually walk off with one when it's full of silver. Plus they're designed to be bolted to the floor and/or wall from the inside.
A "real" safe is better, but those run in the thousands. Gun safe is good enough if you're at home most of the time, and if you have additional means of protection like a big mean dog, a security system that alerts you of an intrusion, etc.
If your stack is small, it's probably easier to just hide it well.

>I don't know if a maple would do me any better for recognition
I wouldn't worry about that much. Keeping a tube of Eagles around for premium play or dealing with absolute knuckle draggers isn't a bad idea, but Maples are plenty recognizable and common; anyone that doesn't know of them now will if existing bullion is ever used for trade. Keep in mind that lots of people today would have trouble picking out an Eagle or silver junk, too; you've gotta allow for societal catch up.

Thrift stores are kinda shit now, compared to the old days before ebay. In the 90's I once found a Commodore Amiga 1000 they only wanted $50 for. Only reason I didn't get it is it was missing the keyboard & mouse, and I already had a computer so didn't really need another one. But yeah, you could find good deals like that.

Nice. I've had my most consistent luck at estate sales, but they generally require a decent amount of driving to get to, which costs money. Yard sales are a total gamble and require more luck. Some weekends suck, and others are amazing with people selling their old 14k chunky wedding rings for $10. Auctions are where all the goods congregate to, but the competition can be stiff and it generally takes a whole day to wait around for everything to be put up for sale. I know you do well online, but I'm hesitant to go down that path as the learning curve seems costly.

Just hit a goodwill and got a little bit more sterling scrap, maybe 40g when broken down for another $7.42 total, main prize is the fat load of pewter found there for $21.20 and a rare book that'll pay for everything. I know for a fact this Goodwill screens PMs and sells online so was a bit surprised. I don't normally post little scrap snacks like this but promised the eggfag ASEsperg I'd share more.

Numisfags prove that people are willing to pay insane prices for silver even while the market is tanking. Every numismatic coin I got on a lark ends up at least tripling in value, even the non-meme rounds, and the ones I sleep on usually quintuple in value.

If memory serves me, it was close to $100 USD, then shipping and handling from Asia, so I noped on it. Looking at eBay now it's priced around $300 to $400. For a painted, 1 oz silver coin. Historical averages for silver have it closed to 16:1. And due to deteriorating mine quality and the lack of capital invested in the sector, it is currently coming out of the ground at around 8:1.
On that basis ALONE silver is undervalued.
But the other side of the silver coin is the importance of silver as an industrial metal. There are countless uses for silver in the undustrial age, as well as applications in health and clothing. It is the #1 conductor of electricity, #1 thermo-conductor, most reflective element, #1 strongest known alloy. It is best in class on multiple fronts, making it single handedly one of the most important materials known to man, as physical stockpiles are being rapidly depleted.
Why? The answer is the banking system is a wealth-extraction scheme that requires an insane amount of purchasing power to be pent-up in paper assets. Money commodities are not allowed to reflect the dollar dilution and so they are suppressed in price using paper-derivative contracts. Silver is a small market, and it is used as a lever to control/suppress ALL commodity markets. Price controls ALWAYS lead to shortages, hence why you want to buy up as much silver as possible. Simple, really.

>The answer is the banking system is a wealth-extraction scheme that requires an insane amount of purchasing power to be pent-up in paper assets.
Think about all of the tax incentives and how much effort goes to having people take a massive portion of their salaries to go and buy up overvalued stocks. Most of this shit is something you can't even touch until you are 65.
The financial system as it is set up really can't procure as much wealth as it purports. We all trade in our real capital for the novelty of a market that pays us passive income, because if our capital were to be stored in physical form the whole ponzi game would be instantly revealed.
That's the truth. Not everyone can go out and own 1000 ounces of silver. There is simply not enough. And what you CAN own a whole lot of is paper claims such as dollars, stocks, real estate, bonds that are all comically overvalued. Worth pennies on the dollar that you toil and scrape by because the tidal-currents of inflation are perpetually pulling you downstream. Only through 40 years of extreme exertion can you ever obtain enough stock to overcome inflation, and pay off your house, and pay your medical bills. None of it really adds up, that America is the wealthiest nation on the planet. Where does all of this money go?

Came out to 48.25g of sterling for $7.42 from that Goodwill, or $5.17/ozt ASW. The earlier batch is heavier and thus cheaper per ozt. These 2022 bars were under $10/oz and the refinery is working on another 12.8 kilograms right now while you cope, the kilos I've pictured were from 2020 and more like 11.50/oz. If you weren't such a newfag it wouldn't need to be explained.

Got this passage with my silver shipment today. I feel a bit pensive now.

>> No.51372009

>>51369326
your overthinking it. maybe, sometime after you give it to her, you could explain how you only paid a certain amount for it and its gone up in value since then because the nature of PMs and limited production runs of things like that.
if your paranoid about it you could at least explain it to your wife first so your not the only one who knows and then there will be at least one other person in your circle that is aware and understands and can support your side in case somebody hints they think its an odd or too expensive gift

Pour mercury in them and then freeze it. It'll become solid and then you can use them as fishing weights. It'll be even more environmentally friendly because it'll just melt instead of sink to the bottom and be litter like with lead or pewter.

I'm an autist so don't really understand what's wrong with giving valuable gifts, what's the problem? I gave my bitch SIL a set of fancy skincare devices that cost $11,000 new (only cost me $40, business closeout) so I could have her feel indebted to me for the foreseeable future and lavish nice gifts on my children in repayment, kek. Maybe that sort of situation is why it's a faux pas, IDGAF tho lol.

I've been a /k/nigger ever since I visited on a /b/ raid. It has gone downhill really badly. Part of it is because the milsurp dried up, so instead of being creative with poorfag shit that you have, it's just consoom whatever your e-celeb larperator tells you to. Part of it is raids from literal discord trannies, because /k/ was a very right wing board but also low hanging fruit compared to /pol/. Then that slavic slapfight took over the board and the shills went into overdrive and are fighting a cyber proxy war on a mongolian musket shooting forum.
