mechanical engineers are a joke. they have no idea how shit actually works, yet refuse to take any semblance of responsibility for their fucked up drawings
>give me shitty plans for a project with notes saying "it's not my fault if this doesn't work teehee, that's the contractor's responsibility to verify engineering is correct"
>send them a list of necessary changes to make it work right
>"umm, sweaty, oof, I'm an engineer. I know this better than you. i'm not changing it you sweet summer child"
>say "okay, just remove the notes saying it's my responsibility if it doesn't work"
>"REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I can't take that liability, why don't you just make field adjustments and then essentially do my job fucking around in CAD to fix my fucked up drawings that I won't fix?!?!"
if you work with engineers, save your emails. most are too autistic to realize you're collecting evidence of their refusal to check their work.

this is my experience with literally every engineer except one.
senior engineers and owners of engineering firms will argue with me about shit drawings that are nowhere close to code, and their justification is "ummm, sweaty, i have an engineering degree from DeVry University. sure you installed these for years, have supervised their installation for even longer, and dealt with countless city inspectors, but I know better than you. if you want correct drawings you need to do them even though I'm being paid for them. yes I'm refusing to make corrections, but you are responsible for my design not working"
as bad as engineers are, don't get me started on architects.
>I'll be able to see the air ducts in a room with no ceiling?
yes retard, they don't make bluetooth air ducts
>why do i have to lower the ceilings? i left 6" for electrical, fire sprinklers, HVAC, & gas lines... i told the customer we can have ceilings this high
well I guess you're having an awkward conversation with the customer
>can you send those plans to me? i never got them
I sent them 7 times in the last 2 weeks but sure here's the forward chain
>i didn't tell you about the ceiling height changing after you installed everything, but why does that matter? it's not like a much larger room will need different lights or carry any additional HVAC load
at least I have 2 viable career options if I get a traumatic brain injury

Imagine business, statistics, and mechanical engineering rolled into one field of study. Basically a business major that can actually produce things or understands how to turn a profit in a mass market. My goal is to be on the design side for the first part of my career and transition to engineering management as I understand what the hell I should be doing.

>>51338796
The only aerospace engineer I know has quit his job (military drone manufacturing) and is doing a bootcamp to become a software dev.
The next decade will be like this. Talent from all sorts of STEM jobs realizing how much money there is in software and switching to satisfy the huge demand for software workers. They will be higher quality than Indian or East European workers. Even in non-software STEM jobs it is a huge plus knowing decent programming.
