Honest to God, if you're out of work, the trick is to find 100 companies you want to work for and cold-email the directors there 2-3 sentences about you (don't email the fucking CEO and don't email middle-management or entry-level. Email a director.) The directors will often send your resume down the pipeline to whichever manager in the company is actually hiring and tell them to interview you. If you send it directly to the manager or entry-level they will ignore it, but they don't ignore emails from the directors. That's what worked with me anyway.

Yes. I post job listings on indeed for jobs that pay much better than McDonalds, I have 16 year olds making $17/hr. I had about ~50-60 applicants the last time I posted that job.
The most applicants I ever got in a short period of time was when I posted a security position for $20/hr but if you're familiar with Indeed you know that all you have to do is click a couple buttons and you can apply to a job so most my applicants were severely unqualified, that job had like 200-300 in 2 weeks IIRC. I literally hired 1 person from Indeed because he wasn't a retard and was normal. Most of the time I'm getting ghosted by applicants. I really don't understand the point of doing that after a phone interview where I tell you all the good and all the bad. I've already lost my patience with American workers in general and you can say it's money all you want but I have people who make $1,500-2k week that still suck at their job so I've been talking with a guy in Eastern Europe that sends students on J1 visas to work seasonally which my job is anyway so I'm just going to hire Eastern Europeans now.

They have 2 billing options.
The original (and one I use) is that you create a job post and pay them each day to leave it running, the more you pay the more visibility your job posting gets.
The other way is to basically only pay for each direct applicant you get. It's supposed to be a quality over quantity thing. I don't know the exact details because I've never used it. I prefer to go the traditional way and then I just filter people out based on my own intuition / pattern recognition / autism.
They also have a bunch of other gay features they try to upsell you on.

The most effective solution at the moment. just reply to all messages you have received (anything can even be thanks not interested), and then you end up at top of search results. just keep doing that. if it's not enough marketing, click through the recruiters friends premium profiles and they'll follow up as well.

This. Most 1st round CVs NEVER seem human eyes.

Tips:

> Examine the job description and look for the buzzwords
> E.g. If you are applying for a Programmer job and see ADAPTABILITY, DEVELOPING, PROBLEM-SOLVING, use these words in your CV and Covering Letter

A targeted CV and covering letter works best. E.g. I did a degree in Geophysics and would have many sub-CVs and Covering letters.

E.g. A Seismic Data Processing role... I would use examples that matched this

A programming role...I would use different examples, or frame the examples I had differently

Worthless thread full of worthless replies.

>Hurr durr I applied to 2000 jobs and got zero replies

>Me too!

>I get ghosted on LinkedIn

None of you assholes post your profession.

Of course if you have 1 year of working experiencet total and it was burget flipping will you get zero replies.

But nobody posts there profession, like there embarassed.

I've come to sullen conclusion that this site is nothing by debbie downers looking to discourage others!

13 years antiviral research, can't get any interview cold applying to any research position because I technically left to start working before finishing degree. No BS = straight into the trash for the algos so I have to direct message whomever is managing the job postings to get
Nail everything that makes it to a phone convo
>"How soon would you be willing to start, we'd like to move quickly"
but then they ask
>"Are you able to provide up to date covid vaccination status?"
Still fucking unemployed. Fuck my fucking bullshit industry. Doesn't prevent spread, doesn't protect you from getting it, but misery loves company and THEY got vaccinated so why would they change the policy 18 months later after the data shows they were idiots. Fuck I'm salty.

Honestly bro you need to take the SWE pill. The lifetime earnings will blow your current career path out of the water. EE is the most natural career to become a SWE too in case you didn’t know

I also just graduated in June with a degree in EE, it took me 3 months of applying and interview grinding but I got a embedded engineer position making $100k in the Midwest. My main strategy was just applying for literally everything I was remotely qualified for on LinkedIn.

Always press the interviewer in the screening call for what will be in the technical interview and then schedule the technical interview a week later. Use that week to absolutely study and grind for that technical interview. Ace it and then you’ll get a good offer. Always tell them your honest salary expectation. Voila, six figure job out of college.

Also interesting to note is I had 0 internship experience and a 2.8 GPA.

Better than getting picked for an interview and getting your hopes up. It’s fucking soul crushing. Interviews are like four hours now too. Remote work has made job searching a living hell. Companies will just wait for the perfect candidate to apply. I see most positions on LinkedIn have over 50 applicants.

I've done interviews where I've shown my abilities and confidence, even made the roastie laugh, then get ghosted. This is mostly for IT jobs and sales, I feel so demoralized.

I doubled my income in 2020 from a recruiter who found me on indeed. Also got two internships in college and another job from there. I like it.
