Let me tell you a story, I bought eth back when it was 5$ because /biz/ shilled it, at the time I had a 500 stack which was 2-3k, it was a poorfag stack and nobody ever dreamed it would be 5k, there were people with 5k+ eth and we were small shrimp.
There was tons of fud at the time and reached 20$ and then crashed to 10$ after the dao hack. I was very young and immature at the time i ended up selling at 12$ to look for a "more promisimg coin" and I would hop between shitcoins and lose money. Then eth eventually pumped to 100$ in a short time and I could never even get back a 500 stack..
Now years later that 500 stack which back then was a poorfag 2k is considered a lot of money and at the peak it was several million.
People who held for years made the most profit. The majority Impatient people who swung are less better off then small holders.
