When they ran out of source material, it was over. I've read the books probably five times, and can say that the show was at its best when it adhered to the books. No idea why they cut plots that they did. If D&D were ready to move on, HBO should have hired someone else to direct. That show could have gone ten seasons easily.

Doesn’t hold a candle to Breaking Bad, you’ll notice Better Call Saul had NO new viewership outside the core Breaking Bad fans who were watching this show 8 years after the end of breaking bad because of how good breaking bad was. Better Call Saul was a snooze fest, Mike and Jimmy were the only good characters and they were from the previous series. Chuck was the only good new character, and yes Kim would make a great fuckable wife but that is besides the point.
