Honestly anon, I did delivery for dominos back in college and it wasnt all that bad. Working weekend nights I could easily pull $150-200 for 6 hours work, this was 10 years ago so it wasnt bad money, and day shift youd make much less but was super chill. It was really pretty fun, i had a little portable weed vape id hit when i had a long delivery and driving around town nicely stoned listening to music making money was cool.

It did absolutely suck being a wagie in store between deliveries, but as long as it was busy enough to stay on the road all shift it was pretty nice.

Compared to the first job I got after college writing database code it was a fucking party, shit was the most boring shit ever I wanted to shoot myself every morning getting out of bed.

Also did bitesquad (doordash like delivery app) for a few months and it was both way less enjoyable following orders from the fucking app than just picking them up at the store and the pay was trash, like half as much.

Yeah being a wagie sucks but pizza delivery is the top tier of wage slavery. If you ever have to do fast food or retail you are fucked OP.

OK you got me, you're a pretty cool guy so I'll read and reply. The worst jobs I've worked are ones that were simply in poorer areas that I lived in where employers 'couldn't afford to pay the industry standards' and I was poor+desperate enough to accept it. My big break came from accepting a remote job in the next state over. Forget mom+pops, but you don't need to work for a Fortune 500. A mid-size place looking to invest in the employees is kino.

Worked the nightshift as a temp worker over a summer at a food factory, they made all sorts of stuff like mcdonalds big mac sauce, salad dressings, tea, yogurt, juice, etc.
What line you ended up on varied night to night so you never knew what it would be, sometimes it was keeping an eye on a box taping machine and moving boxes on pallets, sometimes packing drinks into boxes, sometimes manually taping hundreds of boxes, sometimes moving heavy ass packages of sugar between pallets, sometimes it was washing and cleaning off thousands of buckets with caked on sauces, sometimes it was scrubbing down machines that somehow never seem to get clean, and a bunch of other stuff.
The worst is most times you don't know what you're doing, so you screw up and some boomer that sucks at explaining anything yells at you.
Had to wear a hairnet, and these onesie zip up coveralls that never fit quite right, and earplugs the whole time, the only other people that worked there were 60+ years old and were too dumb to make enough to retire in the richest time in our country's history so they're still working a job that requires no skills. The pay was slightly above minimum wage because it was a nightshift, and you were on your feet all day, and you always came home smelling like garbage, and it was always unbearably hot.
By that time I knew how to program but nobody wants to hire the 1st year software student. The worst is seeing the retarded fat ladies working in the air conditioned office knowing I could do all their jobs better than them for less pay but I was stuck doing some shitty manual labor.

Since then I've only ever worked software dev jobs, will never go back if I can help it. It's retarded that people do this kind of work with shitty low pay work when people with the job title "scrum master" exist that make a good living.

>It's retarded that people do this kind of work with shitty low pay work when people with the job title "scrum master" exist that make a good living
It's because of supply and demand. Most white collar "jobs" require a college degree to filter out the poors, whereas the only barrier to entry for a manual labor job is your willpower. The supply of labor for white collar jobs ends up being much smaller because of higher arbitrary requirements, so companies increase their perks and salaries for those jobs to where people doing actual work get paid however little a given company is able to get away with and the people who answer emails while laying in bed all day like me get paid six figures.

what makes my current role terrible along with every other low paid job, is the knowledge of a world outside of that job and the anecdotal stories we hear from those who made it out.
ive only ever worked the lowest tier shit jobs and it was never an issue until i learned about crypto, financial markets and how capital in general can be compounded.

I was an order selector at a frozen food warehouse. You had to hand stack food items on pallets, two pallets at a time. Orders were timed. Even though it was a refrigerated (32 degree) warehouse people wore t-shirts and basketball shorts because you were running all night throwing crates of apples, corn, yogurt, industrial bags of flower, etc. You worked until all the product was loaded onto trucks so a shift couldn be 8 or 14 hours who knows. Everyone that worked there (except me) was a loud convicted felon from the ghetto. Fights would break out in the aisles as the orders were times so if someone else got in the way you were causing other people to lose money. If a pallet broke or something your entire day's wage was ruined because you would never catch up. I've never been closer to buying a tank of helium than I was at the point in my life. Thank god its all behind me and I have a decent job now but his dead eyes still haunt me, picrel.

I did delivery driver in Domino's (Europe) and I had a great time. The pay was shit, of course, but I did it while studying. I spent a lot of time with people my age and met people I got along well. Some days were shitty, and the managers were women (awful) but all in all it was a good time in my life.

My most miserable job ever was as an apprentice welder. I ended up in a place where the owner was a literal psychopath. His modus operandi was to traumatize people into thinking they are worthless, to later demand they do unpaid overtime to "compensate" all the effort he's doing to "teach them". He had the entire workshop working 2 extra hours for free every single day. He was paying people who had a decade of experience as much as apprentices. Absolute nightmare.

I tolerated so much shit from him, but the time he tried to make me do unpaid overtime, I just left at my hour. Eventually, one day, I decided to just not show up. I quit without notice. Fuck him.

Worked at Michael's as an early morning stocker, Manager was acting like she was doing me a favor because I had a 5 month cv gap at 20 years old (holy kek, like that fucking matters), immediate red flags: glorified min. wage supervisor (getting paid 1 dollar over min. with an ego trip) told me the entire team walked out together because the job was so shit. First week was okay, then out of nowhere the truck day comes, was supposed to be on a Thursday and came a day early... Had to unload half a 19 wheeler BY MYSELF with some retarded faggot I met the day of. Violations everywhere, extremely unsafe, handling glass nonstop, had to cut open boxes in under a second, worked us like slaves for a month. After 4 weeks manager decided to make me clean bathrooms (not doing that shit), took a shit on the womens bathroom on the seat, pissed at the entrance and quit without telling anyone right before the truck shipment arrived. I went back a week later and a ex-coworker said they were laughing hysterically at the shit on the toliet and the manager was fuming. If a manager ever gives you shit for MINIMUM WAGE, make their life a living hell.

I did farm work in Australia went to a packing shed for 3 months where they pack tomatos, packing the tomatos was alright but they made the boxes there themselves and I drew the short straw and got stuck there, because the racist aussie old guy that ran the box making department wanted someone that spoke English. No idea why, most mind dumbingly boring job Iver ever had, endless boxes coming out same reputation over and over and over. The sound of the box machine is still etched in my memory. Didn't help thay the old aussie guy running it was borderline schizo and had a flip out whenever the machine malfunctioned, which was every hour. Never get a factory job since I'm sure it's the same, customer service and hospo is the way to go for minimum wagecuckery for sure.

Ignoring my life at the time or the treatment, the most objective should've been one of the many menial jobs I've worked.

Fast food was fast food. I only had to stay until 3 am once, which involved many hours of cleaning. It felt so futile to spend so many hours cleaning when people were going to come back in a few hours. It was during a hot summer. I was let go after the minimum probation period as I was late every day and accidentally didn't come in one time. It was also the summer I discovered the looks pill, so my self-esteem and worldview had plummeted drastically.

But it was a university summer so I didn't give a damn about it. Same for the menial kitchen job.

The warehouse was repetitive and they left the back door open all the time, which meant this annoying beep constantly sounded. And there was some productivity tracking, although you could easily game it. You had to be searched every time you left a shift. Although it was part time and nowhere near an Amazon style Tayorist dystopian experience.

But it depends on life circumstances and treatment.

My most miserable was during a totally remote office job that I thought I'd be at for a long time. I had this fucking horrific basic bitch roastie manager and, at the same time, another even more horrific basic bitch roastie manager. They took a disliking to me because I'm an ugly autist. And then when I objected they started lying relentlessly about me.

I complained to HR but they were just as bad and every single stage of my appeal was mishandled or ignored.

Then, because of the lies, I was put on some sort of performance plan and had to endure around 4 months of humiliating oversight by a dogshit retarded HR employee, working in a deadend part of the company as HR tried to make me look bad and usher me to a firing. I had to work day-to-day with rotting, small-minded boomers

Luckily I was able to get a job paying a lot more and made my great escape.

Ii did transcribing for Rev. I was really good and speedy. I was making a lot first when I got to do grading. I was making 20 dollars an hour just grading the same test videos from different new rookies over and over again. I would speed up the video/audio, skim through the grade portions. Most of the rookies made so many mistakes I just checked off glaring ones and skip everything else as they'd never pass or barely. Just a few weeks later, they got rid of those files and replaced them with real rookie files where they actually give rookies crap files from customers. There goes the 20 dollars an hour.

Next, I started to make pretty good money every week for even less time done on a file. I'd be choosing these long files and making a lot on them. This lasted for about a month or so when they decided to screw the system over a little to start paying people less. So what happened was Rev decided to break up large files into really short clips. Now, everyone else would grab those files so by the time you finished there'd be nothing left and you'd be left sitting there waiting for new files when before you would have been working on one long file for the rest of the day, payment ensured. I just gave up after doing work there. At one point you could make good money on Rev, memes aside, but definitely not anymore. God bless those who are still on the forums complaining to this day about that mess of a company.

ESL teacher at a private elementary school in Seoul. On paper it was a good job- nice free apartment in the city, decent school lunches, $2k/month right into my pocket, and two months of paid vacation each year. The downside was there were no lesson plans whatsoever so I had to scramble to create reading and science programs for 180 kids and I could never, ever catch up. After I got through each day I had to go home and start writing lesson plans for the next day, rinse and repeat. I couldn't catch my breath, even when the lesson plans were done I was running around trying to get materials for science projects, making and printing crossword puzzles and games, etc. I got restless sleep and couldn't relax on weekends, always had more to do. I got through one semester and walked away feeling like I had aged ten years. If there were some plans and materials in place when I arrived it would've been an entirely different story.

worked for my dad's old company right after I graduated high school and had started community college. I was getting paid under the table to slap on labels, box items, and do a bunch of brainless zombie item after item shit on an endless amount of products. It was in the 2nd floor of a warehouse building across the street from the "real" company building. It was a big hot room and I was the only white person working along with a bunch of illegal mexican immigrants that spoke no english and got paid under the table. It was a horrifying experience that in hindsight I'm grateful for because that along with other retail jobs like working at panera bread and Marshalls gave me a rude awakening that working in these jobs are brainless, provide no skills, make you work harder than you would making 3x as much, and have no career opportunities outside of nepotism

>Can confirm. Used to do tech support for a major ISP in the US. Wanted to kill myself daily. Developed a serious drinking habit that I still haven't kicked years after quitting the job. Call centers destroy lives.

Can also confirm, I've worked two call center jobs in my life, and both of them were horrible for different reasons. It's not even the people you talk to, I wasn't in collections or anything and I didn't deal with that many assholes or rude people, but the nature of the work itself is awful and stressful. Sometimes I blame the fact that my first job out of college was a call center job as the reason why my subsequent employment has been terrible.

Call Centers are just horrible environments, and I don't think anything can be done to improve them. Although I do have a friend who works a call center type customer service job from home. That might be the only way to make it tolerable.

Just being in a room with phones ringing all day long is annoying enough. But then you talk to these people and it's the same shit, the calls are extremely boring and monotonous, and you lose faith in humanity because you realize how extremely retarded a large number of people are.

Getting 60-80 phone calls over an 8 hour period is hellish. Especially because for each call you have to great the customer with the same rote greeting, and then ask for their identifying info to pull up their account. Some people were so fucking retarded they would argue with you about giving their name, address, or account number because they were afraid of being "hacked". How the fuck else do they think we're supposed to pull up their account?

But it's just the same shit day after day. Same greetings, same calls. You begin to feel like a robot. All that time growing up, going to school, doing research papers in college...and that's how you end up, just reading a script and entering basic data on a computer

>> No.50928871

>>50928838
Here's another example of the retardation of normies:

Example, someone would call in and say they got a new credit card and needed to change it for recurring payments. I would delete the old card number, and then ask for the new credit card number. Without fail every single day I would get multiple callers asking if they needed to give me the entire card number or just the last 4 digits, these were almost universally women. I would then matter of factly explain that yes, I need the entire credit card number along with the expiration date and 3 digit code in order to charge the card number. Some of them still would not believe this and think I was lying, because they're so used to typing in the last 4 digits on other platforms to confirm they're the card holder (when they're entire card is already uploaded). Keep in mind these customers getting paranoid about this previously gave us their entire card numbers...which is why we were charging them in the first place. It made me irate that I had to explain this to people multiple times per day. How did these people have enough money to donate $20-30 per month to a charity and they don't even understand how credit cards or payments work?

The other call center job I worked in was tech support. We were basically a call center that cheap ISPs outsourced their tech depts too. So I did support for about 15-20 different ISPs. Each one had a different script and different troubleshooting procedures. This job wasn't quite as bad as first call center job at charity but was awful in it's own ways. Instead of cubicles we were all just in a giant room with 4 rows of tables/desks with computer workstations. Each workstation had little plastic barriers between the next one, but there was no privacy like a cubicle and desk. This made the sound in the room much louder than it would be with cubicles, which increased the stress level. People calling about their internet not working, and you have to walk them through bullshit

>> No.50928914

>>50928838
>>50928871
anyway, I could rant about this all day but don't want to shit up the threat. But suffice to say call center workers are some of the most underpaid in such work. My first call center job I made $13.50 per hour in 2013. Second call center job I made $13 per hour in 2018. There were guys who had been there over a decade who still weren't even getting $20 an hour with regular raises.

Those jobs destroy something inside you. You talk to retards and idiots all day long, and then after work you don't want to do shit. You don't want to hang out with friends or try to talk to girls or anything. You're just so fucking mentally drained from talking on the phone for 8 hours straight. All you want to do is drink or get high and eat food and watch tv when you get home, you don't have energy for much else.

Just thinking about my time spent in call centers fills me with rage, even though the last one I worked at I only was there for 6 months before quitting.

I almost want to get another call center job for the sole purpose of saying expletives and slurs on the calls until I got fired, just because I think that'd be funny

No, it's not worth it. It used to be that most jobs were physically demanding like working in a factory or something but at least you'd get to come home to a wife and a cooked meal and you had enough money to own your own home and a car or two so it was manageable. Now the average person works a shit job that's just as demanding but pays far worse relative to inflation, you rent your apartment and deal with the desperation with drugs and alcohol. The only people I know working shit jobs that aren't drug addicts are morbidly obese people who basically use food as a drug. If you've ever worked in a call center you'll notice there's no such thing as a physically attractive in shape call center employee, especially for men. Sometimes there are hot girls at call centers but they usually get fat from the sedentary lifestyle after a year or two.

And then if you're lucky you move up to some middle management role where you make slightly more money but have to keep spinning the hamster wheel anyway. And of course companies won't really train you for anything else, so if you want to learn computer programming or something you have either be motivated enough to do that on your off time when you're mentally drained or you have to put up money for a coding bootcamp or a university degree.

What made me quit is some nigress supervisor (like 2nd day on her job) literally poked me in the back. The way people were told to get off the phone was a supervisor left a sticky note on your screen, but I guess nobody taught this sherilla any manners. >the manager needed me more than I needed him so the first chance I got, I jumped ship.

My thing is that there is so much jobs out there, you don't have to work a shitty job. Id much rather work hard at a job that I enjoy than try to cruise at a shitty job. Here's a great tip for job hunters. Busy jobs with waves of a rush of customers ie retail/food service and restaurants will always suck, unless you truly enjoy that certain market. Drive around town and look for businesses and buildings thats been around for decades but you've never went into or purchased something from. Research their customer base and look at the type of cars in the parking lot. Higher end cars = good. Big parking lots with middle and lower class people always around = busy/shitty customers/bad. Every business has entry level jobs. Get your foot in the door and only work a little harder than your peers. After a few years, you'll be a shoe-in for either a management or experienced position.

Interesting you say that, I have a friend who is very deep down the Jungian rabbit hole and has been talking to me recently about the idea that words are magical components and sentences are spells. This is Greece in a nutshell.

>graduate school/University during the worst crisis since WW2
>youth unemployment is over 30%
>a billion candidates even for the shittiest jobs imaginable
>decent workplaces offer barely above minimum wage, even occupations like full-fledged veterinarians
>minimum wage is roughly 30% above average rent in towns
>utilities and food has Northern Europe tier pricing

On to the stories

>be my sister
>work in a hospital clinic as an accountant, first job after graduating
>2 months later gets sent to the reception because she's pretty, even though she did a good job as an accountant
>being a hospital, gets the worst customers imaginable
>quits after one month when she realised that this was it, without having another job to fall back to
>eventually finds another job
>get paid minimum wage to manage the company's books by herself
>get constantly sexually harassed by the boss
>she doesn't say shit because that's the best job she's had
>I was ready to burn down this guy's car but she wouldn't let me because she was afraid I would get caught
>wife of boss finds out she got hit on actively, tries to find a way to fire her
>she monitors her every move
>my sister is a fucking accounting robot and doesn't make mistakes
>asks for a raise
>"you are lucky you are even making [just above minimum wage amount]
>gets Covid during vacation
>she doesn't get her vacation days reimbursed even though she can prove she had covid
>she's still stuck there
>too apathetic, mentally drained and conditioned to feel hopeless trying to find another job
>wants to migrate but can't because her boyfriend will inherit his dad's law firm eventually
>in the meantime she doesn't have any money left each month after rent and utilities.

Then our fucking CUNTS politicians have the audacity to ask the 90% of the smart young people who left Greece to return. The only people I know who didn't fuck off are retards, like my sister.

Former CVS grunt reporting and can fucking confirm. Got paid $9/hr back in 2015 and I get paid more than 3 times that now being a glorified autism educator(IRL 4chan mod).
No fucking clue why people would do their legit grocery shopping there besides 1 or 2 items from OTC meds. I was always stuck running the register and they told me to call for help whenever there was 3 or more people besides load day or days changing tags, then by the time they got there. And yeah, we only had 3 people until I after I had my lunch then the 3rd would go home leaving just me and the supervisor to run the entire store, until they had to do paperwork 2 hours before closing so I'd have to handle it myself. Tons of thieves stealing shit which eventually came out of our hours which was both shrinkage and "lost profit". Extreme couponers loved our store for some fucking reason, most entitled pieces of sub human garbage Ive ever met. I practically begged to work on load or sales tags since it meant more time doing mindless menial work and not being stuck on the register. I remember filling in at a new store for a few weeks and saw a spill on the floor and jumped at the opportunity to grab a mop and bucket. My store manager was a total bro, but even he would rather clean the toilets than be on register. Peak wagieism right there.
Only thing that kept me sane were my coworkers. I got along with all of them and only had a handful of times where they had attitude towards me. Some of them were decent enough to hang out with and I still visit them whenever Im back in town. Also play DnD on roll20 a dozen or so times a year too.

He looks like if he slightly opens his mouth he’ll reveal a bunch of lite green puke that’ll drip down his chin in shame

A sort of loc ness, water creature looking character.

>In High School, worked at a rural dog kennel
>10 bucks an hour, under the table
>walked dogs, cleaned up constant puke/shit
>worked with old men who chain smoke
>Owner was a morbidly obese woman who weighed probably 400 pounds.
It actually wasn't so bad, just paid like ass and I had to deal with vomit/poo all the time.

>In college I worked as a university parking attendant.
>Roam the campus parking lots, ticketing cars that didn't have a permit
>Get screamed at daily by people parking illegally
>Took the job because I was socially shy and wanted to learn how to handle confrontational social situations. It worked.
>Managers were other students in Criminal Justice Degrees, took the job way too seriously.

Only McJobs I ever had, mercifully I avoided fast food or other horrible options.

kek absolutely based. i lasted 9 months in big 4 audit before i found a better job and quit. my office had a special agreement with a client where our office audited them... as well as any satellite location that fell into scope, rather than have another EY office audit them. i spent like 2 months traveling to beautiful shitholes like baldwin park, california; binghamton, new york; and middlefield connecticut. few things make you want to kill yourself more than flying out of philly at 9 PM sunday night, landing in california at midnight local time, driving an hour to the hotel in ballbreaking traffic, finally getting into your hotel room and going to bed at 1:30 or 2 AM, and starting your 50+ hour work week (on salary) bright and early monday morning... and then finally flying back friday afternoon, ultimately getting home and back to your apartment at 11:59 PM on friday.

I worked 1 month for a small "computer repair shop". Straight-up scammers. Selling stuff clients don't need, searching for nudes in client computers, stealing parts.
Holly shit, you really get what you deserve when you hire a bunch of 18 yo gaymers to do the work.

Kek, the pizza hut I worked at fit this to a T. I had to do a drug awareness class for getting busted with pot in the south, one of the meth-head bitches that was in that class ended up being one of the managers there during my time. She was actually pretty competent. The real kicker was one of the new managers stealing tips from every delivery driver there for months, getting caught doing it, and then getting his ass kicked by all of them before the cops arrived to bust his ass once it reach a felony worthy amount of money. The main manager bitch of the place had watched him like a hawk the entire time, he's probably taking dick in prison for just over a grand still. The weed was decent and flowed freely and I only had to pull my gun on some joggers one time when they tried to jump me at the door so that was neat. Being held at gunpoint by a vet with ptsd because I knocked on the wrong door sucked pretty hard, once he calmed down I gave him a hug and left and quit the next day right before my shift was scheduled to start. Little Caesars was somehow worse, I watched someone get stabbed in the kitchen one time over some money they owed for drugs and one chick got pulled out the drive thru window by some drunk asshole that wanted to fuck her. Never ever work food service bros, it's hell, the only thing worse is absolute dreg tier retail or call center work.

im a 40 year old boomer here. ive had so many jobs and only like two werent shitty. blue collar and white collar, most jobs fucking blow

a small list: many factories, several call centers, TONS of shitty 'laborer' jobs, several it support jobs (among the worst), cook, dishwasher, painter, roofing, retail and a bunch more

but despite ths shittiness of all those jobs, asbestos removal was BY FAR the worst work ive ever done. you tape yourself into a plastic bag airtight spacesuit and haul 60lb bags of asbestos around for hours. the sweat just pools in the hands and gloves of your suit. even with all the proper precautions youre almost certainly going to breathe some asbestos. it was truly nightmarish

ama about other shitty jobs to not get

Worked 4 jobs, in order from shittiest to best:

>shoe store sales associate
Minimum wage, inconsistent hours, easy enough to do while I was in college. People were cool and the work was braindead, nearly everyone came in drunk/high/hungover. Still a soulsucker
>auto mechanic assistant
High school job, it was a small operation so I got to learn a lot and do a bunch of different car maintenance. Know what to look for and how to maintain my shit now. Pay was better than most, hours were tough in HS.
>marketing analyst
Construction industry, job before what I’m working now, same company. Marketing is fake and gay, but telemarketing (which i did not do) is horrific. Might as well strap yourself to your phone and give up on life
>executive mgmt
Construction mgmt is the best job I’ve had and simultaneously the hardest, money is dope $200k/y but I’m wracking my brain trying to solve company-wide problems that no one else knows how to solve. The amount of certifications/licenses/precursor knowledge to get here took 8 years post-college working in industry. Could lose my job or double my money any day of the week.

Warehouse slavejannie at Walmart store
The job was simple but so much heavy lifting.

The drama was nuts, there was divide between fulltime and part-time, like a civil war.
The full-time treated you like garbage and gate their lives and made us part-time miserable.
The days they weren't there showed just how easy the job actually was.
Only lasted 4 months before quitting
