So how much will you pay for things post-collapse with your gold and silver? How long will a tradesman have to work to earn 1 oz of silver? How much food can you buy from a farmer with 1 oz silver?

Will ASEs be worth more than Maples and generic rounds?

You and another gentleman want to buy a farmers last sack of wheat. You show up with a silvertowne buffalo and he has an eagle. The farmer can only sell to one of you. Which do you think he goes for? The well recognized eagle or the generic round he has never seen before? Yes, eagles and other coins will still be worth more than generic. For the fact that they are just more recognizable, trusted, and liquid than rounds. This is a fact in a SHTF situation and also of everyday life.

It's a mathematical fact that it will happen. People literally own financial paper that says they are entitled to twice the U.S. GDP. This is a real-world problem that can never be solved other than to write the debts off and then deal with the consequences. Imagine needs to not only MAINTAIN the current GDP, but also somehow have to find excess resources the size of the U.S. housing market out of nowhere to deliver to the bond holders. It's physically impossible.

I really don't see the point in overpaying. My understanding of the economic deleveraging event we see all see on the horizon makes me think the weight of the metal will be far more important than the style. Maybe if you think it is best to grab a couple of tubes of ASEs or whatever is in your budget, fine. But I think we will all be kicking ourselves in the ass once we see this ship set sail. It feels like it will never happen, but in retrospect we will be looking at every time we spent $20 on a pizza or whatever and regret it knowing we could have been buying up free money. The case for silver is not just that we will make some cash, but the fallout of the bond market collapse will have all of us considerably poorer. Many of us will lose our jobs, prices will skyrocket, value tied down in stocks will likely underperform, our houses will lose value, our credit card limits will contract if not stop working.
Every single precious ounce will matter. The reason ASEs are so expensive as it is a de-facto means of jacking up premium for other coins. This is another trick by the 'system' to move prices higher without impacting the derivative paper price they are playing with.

Inflation is higher than interest rates and we literally cannot increase those rates without blowing up the bond market. You need high interest rates to promote savings and capital accumulation necessary to provide productive capital to the economy. Without it we are just consuming ourselves to death. For thousands of years silver was used as a healing agent by civilizations throughout the world. Its medical, preservative and restorative powers can be traced as far back as the ancient Greek and Roman Empires.

>The Greeks used silver vessels to keep water and other liquids fresh. The writings of Herodotus, the Greek philosopher and historian, date the use of silver to before the birth of Christ.
>The Roman Empire stored wine in silver urns to prevent spoilage.
The use of silver is mentioned in ancient Egyptian writings.
>In the Middle Ages, silverware protected the wealthy from the full brunt of the plague.
>Before the advent of modern germicides and antibiotics, it was known that disease-causing pathogens could not survive in the presence of silver. Consequently, silver was used in dishware, drinking vessels and eating utensils.
In particular, the wealthy stored and ate their food from silver vessels to keep bacteria from growing.
>The Chinese emperors and their courts ate with silver chopsticks.
>The Druids have left evidence of their use of silver.
>Settlers in the Australian outback suspend silverware in their water tanks to retard spoilage.
>Pioneers trekking across the American West found that if they placed silver or copper coins in their casks of drinking water, it kept the water safe from bacteria, algae, etc.
>All along the frontier, silver dollars were put in milk to keep it fresh. Some of us remember our grandparents doing the same.
>Silver leaf was used to combat infection in wounds sustained by troops during World War I.
>Prior to the introduction of antibiotics, Colloidal Silver was used widely in hospitals and has been known as a bactericide for at least 1200 years.
>In the early 1800s, doctors used silver sutures in surgical wounds with very successful results.
>In Ayurvedic medicine, silver is used in small amounts as a tonic, elixir or rejuvenative agent for patients debilitated by age or disease.

And more to my point, if you are familiar with a particular coin, you know the visual detail. You know the diameter, thickness, and weight. You know the sound the ping test makes. You can’t know this for all coins and rounds. The Eagle is the most recognized coin in the US. People, being familiar with this coin and the easy methods of authenticity will want it more than other coins and rounds. Thus it’s reasonable that the eagles will be the most desired coin for trading. It will have a premium.

you are better off weighing it, using calipers to find the proper dimensions. since its an ASE they should be rather uniform. but generic is fine because you can nitric test that in addition to weight and calipers without decreasing the value drastically

i like type 1 eagles but the premium on them is stupid. silver is silver at the end of the day and it all should be verified way more than "just by looking at it"

Nambus were originally issued with a holster, a matching spare magazine, and extra firing pin. So finding a complete rig is very desirable to collectors, especially if everything is in excellent condition. I still need reloading dies for mine. I also need an 1891 Morgan dollar to go along with one of my guns.

All right listen up silvercucks. Let me break it down for you in easy to understand words. You think youre buying silver for cheap? Think again. Theres a reason silver is "cheap" and will continue to be even cheaper as time goes.

5,000 years ago humans decided to use gold as money. However, it was inconvenient to chop up gold coins for smaller purchases. Silver was much more plentiful than gold and was therefore perfect to fit the role of golds retarded cousin, for the sake of having divisibility introduced into the financial world. The gold/silver price ratio hovered around 1:15 due to the supply of each metal at that time.

Heres the problem. Over 90% of all the silver bullion humans have ever mined is gone. Its been used up and thrown away. Gold on the other hand, has been preserved and treasured over many generations. Now if you were a midwit you might say
>less silver supply=higher price

But remember why silver had value in the first place. Its precisely because it used to be 15 times as common as gold, that it fit the role of the smaller money. In modern times, there is more gold above ground than there is silver. Silver is no longer good for divisibilty in a world of metal based or metal backed money. Thats why you see this long term trend to price parity with other industrial metals such as aluminum or steel.

There is a good argument to make that China subsidized the Western monetary system for YEARS after 2008 so they could accumulate gold reserves to be on par with America & other nations.
We've reached that benchmark, and that could be the precursor for the rebalancing of the global economic system. The economy could very well be hit with problems that will not be rectified with the goodwill of our "allies" such as cheap imports from China, or cheap oil from Saudi Arabia.

Of course we do. It is certainly the "collateral" for all kinds of bogus swaps, futures and leases that are used to manipulate the price down. Under no circumstance would that gold go anywhere. Even though America is on the decline and broke, it is still one of the largest economies, largest manufacturers, and LOADED full of natural resources. No one wants to abandon control of North America because it is the most important continent on the planet. So much so, that the entire world is facilitating a gay-op on Europeans in a DESPERATE attempt to mongrelize the people and turn N America and Europe in Brazil tier demographics because a self-conscious white populace on either side of the Atlantic is literal CHECKMATE for the world. We could become stronger, more powerful sovereigns than even the jews in present day. A new civilization could rival Greece, Rome, that our children could inherit. Fledgling civilizations on the American continent and Nazi Germany were slaughtered prematurely at the behest of the banks. Banks and jews want a dumbed down, materialist consumer peon class. Gold is the basis of international trade. You don't spend 80 years running up a tab you can't pay only to turn around and start playing more ponzi games with paper money.
Functional economies ALWAYS precede monetary malfeasance. You can;t just start a ponzi scheme in Africa and try to build up a propert bubble in mud huts. It literally doesn't work. You need something functional to leach off of.

Virtually none of them buy anything coin related to begin with.
I suppose the few Millenials and Zoomers who buy coins tend to disproprtionately buy overpriced modern commemorative medallion "coins" (e.g. Star Wars coins, Germania Mint, etc.) instead of Bullion or actual Numismatics given the rise of this type of coin in the past few decades. What happens to all the high numismatic coins when all the boomers go in the next 10-20 years? Millenials, and genx don't care about a dime from 53 or an AGE from 72, there are tens of thousands of eagles out there. They care about a grogu coin with only 250 minted, or limited mint series like the queens beasts, not so much a wheat penny. I think if we all live that long alot of the numismatic coins are going to rapidly swap prices because alot of the value placed on coins outside of its metal content are because of the history of the coin or the perceived history. So an eagle from 72 might mean alot to a boomer who has memories attached to that year not so much a millenial who has zero attachment and the coins aren't old enough to be considered ancient like some old Roman bronze. To them its just a dime or just another slightly scratched eagle. All personal opinion of course I could be totally wrong.

There where hundreds of them. Her dad had passed away and she was trying just get rid of them. I almost bought a bunch and then I didn't. I didn't buy them for the same reason she was selling them so cheap most of my generation doesn't give a shit about baseball cards. I know there had to be some in there worth some money but it would have been to much trouble going through all of them and then trying to find someone still alive, that has the money, and knows how to use ebay to buy a card with a player on it from when they where a kid. The generations are changing hands and I think that's really going to start showing in the coming years with what people consider collectibles and thier worth.

Yep again personal opinion if you want to get into numismatics find something like the Mandalorian coins. You want something current, limited supply, and popular. Buy a couple wait for retailers to sell out then throw them up on eBay you can make a quick few hundred to a thousand and throw that money back into standard bullion. That way you aren't trying to hold a coin for 30 years hoping it appreciates in value and you don't have to find someone with the interest and "30k" that your 1oz gold coin is now valued at in 2077.

>What happens to all the high numismatic coins when all the boomers go in the next 10-20 years?

Coin collecting has been around for centuries, but only really became a popular mainstream phenomenon in the prosperous post-WW2 era. Millions "collected" sets of what could be found in circulation and kept eyes open for interesting varieties, key dates like 1909-S VDB pennies or errors like the 42/1 merc, as the common man could finally afford to save some surplus in the form of coins, but few actually pursued true rarities. The pre-boomer generations have mostly passed away, and the hobby became more complex and sophisticated with professional grading firms and standardized scientific grading systems changing the nature of collecting. It seems true that the numbers of casual numismatists are diminishing, and coin shops now often sell mid-range and common stuff under book value to move a glut of inventory from all the collections they have been absorbing lately, but the rich international collector/investor market for high grade authenticated coins and true rarities is stronger than ever. For example semi-rarities like 1938-D walking liberty halves or 1931-S pennies used to be relatively expensive 40 years ago when the greatest generation was strong and their boomer children young. Lots of casual coin collectors back then meant strong demand for stuff like that which they could reasonably afford or find, but because so many were preserved in collections that have been liquidated in subsequent years prices for those coins have barely moved, whereas prices for much more rare pieces like high grade 1916-D Mercs have multiplied.

The trend seems to be moving towards a more sophisticated and discerning collector base where the absolute finest and rarest will continue rising in value but the demand for and value of circulated or more common pieces will stagnate or soften relative to the best in the coming years.
TLDR Buy the best you can afford if you want a ROI.

I realize most penny stackers do it for relaxation or to create art, but for those who are stacking for profit here's how that will go...
A pre-1982 penny is 95% Cu and 5% Zn.
At the current price of 3.66/lb for Cu, a 3.11 gram penny is worth 2.38 cents.
Wow! 2.4 times the return on your investment!
So let's get "rich" - say, end up with $1,000 in Cu?
You would need 41947 pennies, weighing 130.46 kg.
So for every 287.6 lbs avdp of pennies you have a $580.53 potential in profit.

Going to sell them on ebay? They take 12% (or 13% now?) of the sale price. So $510.87 in profit.
Unless it's pickup, you're going to have to ship it. Somebody is going to pay that. If you charge for shipping, buyers will want a lower price for the pennies. If you pay shipping, that mass will quickly eat what's left.

I suspect you'll end up with buckets of pennies that will sit in the garage for the rest of your life.

The whole point of silver and gold being universal is that they were valued in all markers regardless of format.

>be Roman Empire
>deliver cargo of Garum from Ravenna to some Semitic shithole in the lower colon of the Mediterranean.
>get paid in Tyrean shekels
>whatevs theyre .90 silver and worst case we can take them to a money changer to get verified

Same again with trade in the Far East. Who gives a fuck if the coins are square, have holes in them and weird gook scribbles on them, if they’re good silver/gold/copper?

Arguing about the difference between ASE/generic is the exact same argument about Numismatic value. It’s all relative and subjective, and it’s all splitting hairs. Silver and Gold are silver and Gold. And merchants failing to recognize and trade in that will be outperformed by their competitors who don’t.

A merchant in Rome would've accepted a Shekel at a deep discount to a coin that he actually recognized. He has no use for such a thing as nobody in Rome trades in Shekels and very few people even have enough experience with them to know what a real one should look like.

>The only reason they would take discounts was because of purity concerns.
How would you go about liquidating a Shekel in Ancient Rome?
You could take it to a money changer, but you wouldn't get it's full value.
You could take it to a Silversmith, but again, you wouldn't get its full value.
You could sell it to a merchant going out East to use it, but once again, you couldn't get it's full value, hence why the merchant would accept it at a discount in the first place.
>The opposite would apply to modern day thinking would it not?
What's easier to fake, an ASE or a shitty buffalo round?
Nobody's going to hold Generics as high as actual coins because they don't have any security features. You can't just look at the font on the coin for serifs to determine if it's fake or not, there's no standard. If you have a million different variations of the same few designs, it's going to give a lot of wiggle room for counterfeiters. Merchants will discount generics due to the higher likelyhood of fakes slipping through.
If a single mint were to make Generics with actual security features (Sunshine mint does this) their Generics would likely be accepted at about the same rate as ASEs.

Since most people don't have much if any gold or silver I doubt people will be trading whole coins except for bulk purchases. I think most coins will get cut into quarters or 8 bits and that will show if a coin is plated or solid. There just aren't enough people with enough coins to be bartering whole coins for things like a single meal and a drink or one sack of flour. If I pay you a couple coins for helping me around the farm how are you gonna split those coins at the market between the butcher, baker, and candlestick maker? You gotta break the coins up or convince those three to share two coins between them. And yea I know there are coins smaller than 1oz but even fewer people have those than the amount that have 1oz and up so I don't think thats feasible either.

Change retard. It’s called change. The vendors will make and provide change for your money exceeding the purchase.

The fact that you as a member of society have been so far divorced from this ancient and fundamental human monetary practice - shows how deeply and successfully we have been domesticated by the Bankers.

What part of me saying "most coins will get broken into quarters and bits" led you to believe I don't understand the concept of change in a world where gold and silver coins are the main form of currency? This would facilitate the ability to pay in smaller denominations and have the secondary benefit of showing if a coin is solid or a plated fake.

Said that no one would except generic rounds or bars without a heavy discount because no one would be able to verify if it was real or not. I told them I think most people would break thier coins down to make small trades and that would also allow them to see if its a real or plated coin regardless of it being a generic round/bar, or government mint coin/bar. Also nations have minted coins made to be broken into pieces to make change so its also a long practiced tried and true method as well.

>Guy melts ~$25.00 in pre-1982 pennies to see if it's worth it
>~3.1g pennies, weighs out 7.75kg, ~2500 pennies
> Melts, pours into bar molds
>Recovers 7.4kg (16.0 lbs) of copper
>Says at the time (May 2020), copper spot was $2.28/lbs x 16lbs = $36.48
>Says fuel used cost ~$10, and concludes for melting ~$25 in pennies + ~$10 fuel, and only recovering ~$35 worth of copper, you are even
>YouTube comments says copper spot was $4.73/lbs on Mar 2022, so his recovery is $75.68 two years later.
As the YouTube comment points out, it was more worth it when copper spot rose, and I'm pretty sure it's not done rising yet given how consequences of 2020 isn't done catching up.

The guy also acts like the +$10 rise in copper value of the pennies at the time of filming wasn't significant. He could have waited until fuel costs were down, or there's more efficient way of melting in the future. Or just don't melt the pennies. Even if the value of the pennies stayed even, that's a whole lot better than the value of the dollar dropping. It's like how anons says silver and gold aren't a "get rich fast play", but maintaining your wealth. Those copper pennies did just that.

But anyways, I think overall the pro with holding pennies is it's retaining value or very slowly appreciating. The con is pennies takes up more space than silver, which takes up more space than gold.

Neat video though, I've always wonder about the same melt vs value concept of aluminum cans, food cans (not even sure what metal they're made of), and shell casings. All that metal is just being thrown/given away.
