China will fall. What the event will be is when Xi is finally out. They got a solid control with him and hes pretty competent at controlling things. So I dont expect any change as long as he is there. If the Us had guts in their leaders they start to push companies to move to other asian countries. Vietnam, Philippines, indonesia etc. Cheaper labor and undermines china. I think they may start to move anyway since china isnt as cheap anymore but its got to be soon.

It's interesting you bring this up because I read a theory that the market crash is worse if you account for loss in purchasing power. A lot of events in the past happen but we haven't really had an inflationary environment since the 70s and 80s. The fed is full of retards spouting lies to save face, but we may only be in a recession by definition alone. This really isn't an economy that is in a recession otherwise.

I'm not sold on this 100% but really, where else is left to go unless they really go ham on rate hikes? We won't get any deflation meaning that prices are gonna level off around here. But people are employed. People aren't dying in the streets. Wages are growing for quite a few reasons. So where is the recession? I might change my tune end of the year and I wouldn't put significant money down but I'm thinking this is a real possibility. I don't know man.

Additionally, a lot of the breakthroughs are based off meme-learning (see big dog). Current robotic breakthroughs are no longer based on understanding new mathematical relations and I expect a lot of it to turn out similar to the 'self-driving' gold rush

I think another interesting angle is that in TA they assume pivot levels are constant over several months. 2% inflation falls within the usual fluctuations of buyer willingness, but what about 10% levels? Then a price of, say, oil six months ago at 85 actually turns into 89.

>So where is the recession? I might change my tune end of the year and I wouldn't put significant money down but I'm thinking this is a real possibility. I don't know man.

Nah I like it, I always go full merchantile in EU3. But merchantilism essentially requires your colonies to direct resources to your main nation. It didnt work for the exact reason the US revolted, they didnt want their labor going to the lowest bidder essentially and wanted it to be based on demand. What interest would your colonies have in merchantilism? None, so you spend time enforcing it. Hence spending most of your profits. If instead you invest in american companies as the british king, you get the increased profit of them selling it and collect the gains via stock.

I placed my chips, It's literally still low af. If we can believe in reversion to the mean then at some point it should outperform. The volatility should mean it outperforms in the long run.

I'm quite bullish on Korea because they have very good infrastructure and I am betting on the war ending and the 2 koreas joining together which will create a boom a lot of construction companies and such in the current South Korea and a great balance of trade with their cheap North Korean labour. The North Koreans will eventually catch up on education as they get indoctrinated into the stronger society. The army will be one of the largest standing armies in the world and the necessity for conscription will not leave as the threat of china will be ever present. Honestly Korea has so much going for it right now the whole penninsula will be a superpower in the next 30 years. Kim is basically a western doctrine, trying to escape the sins of his father. At some point he will collude with the South to execute his sister and free himself to a retirement in Switzerland.

South Korean cars and televisions are literally everywhere, they're the middle ground between China and Japan. Korea's biggest enemy is itself, the population still believes they are inferior to the US and Japan because of history but actually they have likely surpassed both in technological advancement. If they're lucky some TSMC employees will jump to samsung and make their chip manufacturing excel.

Gentlemen, why is VIX decreasing in such a linear manner? Look at it from June onwards. It's not just the size of the descent, but the shape. it's a straight diagonal line. I can't find anything like it in the past 5 years; VIX usually moves in a more parabolic manner, and usually has spikes. From a market perspective, what does this indicate? Health? Poor health? Low volume? High volume? What does it say about institutional participation, etc. Anything?

I've sold down into this rally but there's no actual reason it has to go lower here. Companies are making profits. People are employed, we're even back to peak employment. Money is passively funneling into the S&P at the highest rate ever.

While this does seem a bit overdone, you should still be net long right now.

What are IV on SIGA puts anyways? Shit has to be super expensive to the point where the RV(realized volatility) means the stock has to move like $10 bucks down in one day to even render them profitable?

I don't know if call spreads are even worth it on SIGA either cuz it could keep squeezing from shorts closing. Idk. It seems risky both ways

Maybe waiting for IV to flatten a bit and then buying some puts with a good amount of time value so you can ride out the stock's inevitable dump to low teens again

i've only been investing since 2018 and literally just buy index funds every single month no matter what and I've done really well. don't try to be a "stock picker", just buy VOO or VTI and be done with it and then come here for a laugh

in theory maybe, that doesnt mean thats what appears when you add "volume" to spx
look at the spy volume, that's what really gets traded

You can make monthly gains by shorting VIX futures when rolling over from one month to the next. Even though it's a pseudo-bullish position the contango combined with the stable range of VIX means that you can make gains even when the market is overall going down. On a paper account I shorted VIX futures on Jan 27th and closed a few days ago with a +31% gain.

What gets traded too are the stocks that make the index, and you add up the those volumes to make the index volume.

im saying that value is not the value that is listed on "volume" when that gets added to spx
you know most of the indicators on tradingview are open source and custom right? you cant just trust them out of the box
the volume profile on spy is legit. there is no volume profile on ndx. the one for spx is very different than spy and spx futures, so i dont trust it

No, it doesn't work that way. That would be asinine; why would they tally the volume of stocks with completely different prices? What would they do when stocks get split? etc. What you're viewing is almost certainly futures volume. If your brokerage is showing you tallied volume of index components, you should get a new one.

That part of you.
The part that is sad.
That's why you are red today.
You are never going to make money until you beat that nigger to death.

Stop feeling and start trading.

It happens, and people have lost way more than that. Now you know to stop making stupid fucking decisions with options. You’ll make it back, but you’ll have to wage. Next time don’t gamble anything you care to lose and don’t make extremely risky short term plays, just slowly put money into SPY and go from there.
