There's a point when you need to cut your parents off, financially or not, for their irresponsibility, and the damage they've done.

Figuring that out is squarely on you, assuming you're older than 19 or 21.

I bought my first house thanks to my parents giving me a 20k interest free loan to help with the deposit. Grandmother had died and left us all some money, so they gave me their share of it too. I pay them back a small amount every month and it will take years to get it back, they aren't bothered and are just glad I'm happy and doing well.

the point is that you wouldnt have to deal with that if it wasnt for boomers. if boomers didnt do what they did then you wont have to ask for money to buy a home. you wouldnt have to live in their basement. you wouldve have a completely easier life but keep coping because MUH I LOVE MY PARENTS

>2016
>Parents make me feel like the source of their financial woes since childhood
>They have a big argument over finances. Mostly blaming me for not helping them out. Almost divorce
>They stay together only because divorce would make them both homeless
>Been inbetween jobs for years, dad's been the same way. Most of my money pays both their rollover debts
>Out of luck finally manage to find full time work. They hire families, so I get my dad into it
>We all have stable, full time work now
>Put together a plan where we put our noses to the grindstone, clear all of the family debt and pay off most of the mortgage
>They both blow me off. While still asking me to contribute to their interest accruing debts
>Fast forward to 2022
>auto debt and still $50,000+ in debt each. Spent their covid cheques on antiques and home renovations. Not even a dent in the mortgage. and bills have on 4 month long rollovers
>I could have just moved out on and gone all into crypto. I only had the spare funds to accumulate 10 eth @ $10

Such is life...

Yeah boomer are part of the problem but the bigger problem is capitalism for allowing this in the first place
