I work night shifts. I do barely anything. I get paid to work on my hobbies and barely have to interact with anyone. I like my job. Had a similar experience at Staples when I was maybe 19. Worked doing computer repair and was good as fuck at it. The boomer retard managers constantly tried running skeleton shifts where I was the only person on the computer/printer side of the store so I couldn't get any work done with all the customers asking dumb fuck questions about nothing. We got secret shoppered and the leathery cunt who tested me marked me down because I wasn't walking around on the floor, and I said the tablets (from 2011) weren't good for real work and a laptop would be better instead.
A couple weeks later the GM brought me back to say he wants me doing 80% sales, and that he's docking my pay by 50¢. I told him I'm quitting immediately. Fucker tried to guilt trip me saying it will make shifts harder for everyone if I walk away, but I said it's not my agreed upon contract, and he should have thought about his lack of leverage before trying to pull that shit. Walked away and got a pretty great job doing IT work at a nearby hospital for 50% more pay a couple weeks later. They wanted a reference and the asshole GM wouldn't answer their calls, so I walked back into the store and said it was unprofessional to no give a good reference to a former employee who never missed a day and left of their own accord after a pay dispute. He gave the reference. The HR woman at the hospital laughed with me about it because on the phone with her, he tried to play up the whole "waah the tech guy didn't want to spend his whole day trying to scam people into buying warranties!".

To any anons working retail and are over the age of 25, you're better than that. Get any job other than one in retail or food.
