It will lose a lot of value in the short term. ETH's entire Mcap is propped up by mining fees. If you were to appraise it as a low cost L1 it would likely have a similar Mcap to XRP which has a very similar volume of transactions.
Long term ETH will be more competitive than all of the meme L1's who have no industry connections and rely on ETH being slow. It will also be more scalable for mainstream adoption.
