So, my dream job is accounting (i know, i know) but i didn't pick it at uni because i was afraid that AI was going to replace it pretty quickly.

Did i fuck up? Is there a future in accounting?

Yeah. But seeing how braindead you are I wouldn't think you'd make a good accountant.

wat? no, no i don't know faggot. Also, no, the books aren't going to fudge themselves. AI or algorithmic driven accounting would leave a paper trail. They need humans to do the shady shit.

Literally the other day some manager on this board said how he fired the entire accounting department of few dozen people because he implemented ai and left just one person to run everything else. Everywhere you look it says that accounting is one of the first ones to go. IDK

Partly true.
I can confirm the invoices themselves get processed by simple "read pdf file" programs now, the booking and processing up to payment is automatic.
Then again some things like checking the general ledger, budgeting, amortization is done by people as far I have seen.

He's larping like most people are on this board. Eventually? Yes. But unlikely you can line up everything to be that seamless. Also department Of 36 accountants? Lmao. The only place I can think of that would have that many accountants that can be automated at once would be an outfit like state Street. Presumably theyve already done this before 2022 and the accountants replaced just go on to be accountants at other smaller hedgies, or managed funds

Depends. Simple tasks? Yes. Forensic accounting? Helping small businesses and individuals with creative accounting?
I doubt it

once you get the job you'll quickly realize what a huge waste of your life it is. i had an office job for a year and never again.

>> No.50482146

you can't compare accounting careers in public/private consulting, tax, auditing, etc to simple bookkeeping which is already automated to shit.
first year PA associates in US HCOL areas are getting close to 80k now out the gate (100k by ~3-4 years of exp). competent accountants are only becoming more valuable given the shortage of them and all the boomer CPAs retiring after the coof.

everything will be fine anon, don't let anxiety eat your head.
artificial intelligence still has years to go to get to that point, try to relax with tense situations that you know you can control, like I do with my desire to destroy my monitor when I see the qom chart.
