Because 20 years ago when they set up their websites bandwidth was super expensive and slow so they used low res pictures.... they just never stopped using low res pictures.

At least in Canada, around 95% of the properties listed online are in rough enough shape that if you actually had clear photos the problems would be obvious. It's actually an effective marketing strategy to use shitty photos because they mask the blemishes.

I think another reason is because realtors are fucking morons and should be making minimum wage. They don't know and don't care to learn how to take good photos.
