"no good" in the sense of futile I think
14 generations end with the old man, but he's continuing to work in the face of that

>> No.49997724

You stay, you're a hostage, you leave, you betrayed the man who gave you life.

My dad had a good job working accounting but dropped it about 15 years ago, dedicating his life to the family farm. It's a cruel life to live, with constant physical toil and being extremely dependent on the weather/nature.

The other night (yes, night, 2200 hours) he forced me, my old ass mother, and my sister to go out in the field in the midst of a rainstorm and collect hay bales so they don't soak up moisture. I almost got ran over and he almost had his leg crushed when he left the tractor in neutral and we scrambled to keep it from rolling down the hill. After that happened we begged him to go home and forget about cca 300 bucks worth of haybales he wanted to protect, but he stubbornly insisted on finishing picking them up, himself alone or with us. We ended up rounding up the hay bales until midnight.

The payoff is minimal, and the household is kept affloat by my mom's govt salary and now my own salary. Him wasting away on the field covered in sheep shit has taken it's toll on him, on my mom, and on me/my sister. None of us can leave because he'll probably kill himself if we do, either by overworking himself into the ground or by putting a gun to his temple. I have enough money to buy an apartment but I would be forced to daily ommute between my place and the farm to assist with farmwork. And if I were to leave he'd start blaming my mother for me getting detached and leaving the family nest to rot/fall apart.

So yeah, I understand the distant insurance selling son who ran away as far as he could from his father's farm. I wish I had the courage/smarts to leave like that when I was younger. Now that I'm older, thinking of leaving and making my father realize all his work was/is for nothing kills me inside, even harder than being held hostage in his farm owner fantasy. But it is what it is, we all just gotta do something, even if it's ultimately no good.

you need to work hard for sovereignty, most people prefer being wageslaves, own nothing (rent) and "being happy" with their tempoary distractions. yea they maybe dont take physical toll by living the city life but they definitely take mental toll and mental toll leads to physical toll. idk how sheltered you are but take a look on how most modern city people live, have a conversation with them, see how they spend their time and tell me these people are totally happy and not miserable. the grass isnt always greener.

My dad has a business, but he's fully intent on selling it when he retires.

also running a farm and relying solely on the farm for income isnt the best and sufficient way these days. you need to have a part time job and also its probably not the smartest idea to have a literal zoo in your farm. chickens are the best to have, take low space, constantly reproducing (eggs+meat), not much work with them. one goat or something for milk. potatoes, veggies, fruits. the rest you can purchase locally. going full autismo especially in the beginning and try to be fully mediaval farmer isnt gonna work

Same situation with my father. Hell, my dad owns a computer software company, the type of thing I went to 8 years of school to understand while he doesn't know anything about the product he sells (at least how it's made), and any time I bring up taking over the company, it's like some kind of joke to him, like it's such a crazy unspeakable idea. conservative boomer farmers are not based, they treat their sons like cheap manual labor and then they wonder why the sons do not want to take over the farm because all they have ever seen is a cheap shit job that they have to do for family obligation. They have never seen any of the profits, if there are any, and the boomers somehow think being tough on them will endear the sons to them when they have other easier options to make money. The boomer likes to larp as the head of the family when he is neither because the wife brings home the money from her wagie office jobs and the kids were raised by the school system and tv. To the kids it was just another shit job because they were never treated as heirs, and my father personally lacked the ability or the patience to explain anything and now wonders why I want nothing to do with the farm other than a way to play the tax game on cashing out Bitcoin. I like the rural lifestyle, but the society in small towns is even more pozzed than mid sized cities because at least there they have decent jobs and a small dating pool where in small towns it is non-existent. It is getting even worse because all the single moms with their failed Chad baby trapping and niglets and spiclets are moving back because they have no other options while no one else is coming back. The farming family is dependent on (((credit))) and is just as feminist as the blue haired dykes.

It shows how when peasants succeed in becoming wealthy, it is squandered in a few generations because they do not have the skills to make their family line successful. All the farming families I know are like this, not just mine. The largest one is worth about 20 million dollars and their youngest generation of kids between the two brothers are about 33 years old with none having children themselves. They are married/ have girlfriends, but I have asked them and they say they just cant afford it until they get their student loans paid off etc.

They will be by life itself. Life gives you precisely what you want in an ultimate form. If you are greedy, what you're really saying is what you want in life is endless highs and lows, endless feasts and endless famines. What you want is extreme satisfaction and desperate deprivation. They're getting exactly that. When your greed alienates your future generations from participating in the propogation of your culture, you're being tantalized with the one thing you can't have BY BEING greedy. In other words, life is trying to tell you that the only way to truly indulge your greed is to give it up, at least for a time, and focus on selflessly, GREEDILY building up a future stockpile and a self-fulfilling legacy of good will and good leadership regardless of reward. This 'legend' persists AFTER YOUR LIFE, for as long as people keep it going. People say Moses lived for hundreds of years, but that's just a poetic way of saying he did enough in his life time to make it look like he lived a handful of lives in one. This great 'father' is well loved and remembered by his people.

It's just about transforming their greed from petty material comforts to greed for glory, greed for a fulfilling and meaningful life, etc. Greed is good. Greed for petty shit is bad, it's a waste of good greed.

It's never too late to change.
The lesson you need to learn is that you are not responsible for your parent's happiness.
Everyone is an adult responsible for their own life choices.

You are responsible for your own life and happiness, and your father is responsible for his own life.

You will have to chose sooner or later which want is more important to you.
Your life and happiness or pleasing a mad man who doesn't care about your happiness.

You should read Toxic parents by Susan Forward.

Additionally you should apply this law of power 10 too:
>INFECTION: AVOID THE UNHAPPY AND UNLUCKY
>JUDGMENT
>You can die from someone else's misery-emotional states are as infectious as diseases. You may feel you are helping the drowning man but you are only precipitating your own dis aster. The unfortunate sometimes draw misfortune on themselves; they will also draw it on you. Associate with the happy and fortunate instead.

I honestly love my boomer parents for setting me up with a career in a family business that I have leveraged into a house, two cars and child with my wife. When they die my parents will hand off a trust to my sister and me worth about $5 million that includes more than 200 acres in three states along with three houses and about a dozen vehicles. I’m sorry so many of y’all have selfish shitty people for parents, but that is the default, so unsurprising.

>The other side of infection is equally valid, and perhaps more readily understood: There are people who attract happiness to themselves by their good cheer, natural buoyancy, and intelligence. They are a source of pleasure, and you must associate with them to share in the prosperity they draw upon themselves.
>This applies to more than good cheer and success: All positive qualities can infect us.

>Use the positive side of this emotional osmosis to advantage. If, for example, you are miserly by nature, you will never go beyond a certain limit; only generous souls attain greatness. Associate with the generous, then, and they will infect you, opening up everything that is tight and restricted in you. If you are gloomy, gravitate to the cheerful. If you are prone to isolation, force yourself to befriend the gregarious. Never associate with those who share your defects-they will reinforce everything that holds you back. Only create associations with positive affinities. Make this a rule of life and you will benefit more than from all the therapy in the world.

You have the power to change your life by changing your mindset. All you need to do is decide and change your perception on your life.

no, they only left the farm to go to school and came back to work full time and have been there since. I guess the whole point is if the Boomer parents were based they would tell their children that only the ones that have grandchildren will inherit the farm, but they are workaholics and still believe its the 1970s. My sister married one of them, but I think the liberalism is too strong because they just flat out say they do not want children. Sadly is probably because they could not take vacations to Europe every year. When they say they can not afford it, I think that is what they mean.

How much space do you have? Peeled prawns cost about £40/kg at the supermarket, so live you're probably looking at £10. You can't stock more than 50 per square metre which at 10 g per prawn and a lifecycle of about 60 days means you're getting £5 per square metre per month.

If anyone has been wondering how almost an entire generation could end up behaving the same way, I have an explanation, though many of you will reject it.

Astrologically speaking, the boomer generation lines up with Pluto in Leo. Pluto is the planet which moves the slowest through the natal chart, as low as 7 years to transit a sign but as high as 35 years. So you end up with natural generations of people with deeply rooted commonalities in thought and behavior.

Leo is a sign which, with its negative connotations, is known for narcissism, selfishness, fragile egos, unintellectualism and myopia, entitlement, weakness to flattery, short temper, and other such traits that can largely be summed up as childish self-importance.

Thus you end up with a generation that wants it all for themselves, is unwilling to share, and completely incapable of comprehending the long-term implications and consequences of their behavior. They think only of short term personal profit. They demand you suck their dick and get hugely offended when you don't.

In my personal opinion, Leo is one of the worst signs in the zodiac, if not the straight worse, period. It is a sign with no other worth than its ease of self-assertion, which on paper makes it suitable as a type for leaders and bosses, but without any of the additional traits that makes a leader worth a shit---humility, foresight, patience, understanding, technical competence, etc..

Thus it comes as no surprise that a largeless worthless sign has begeted the most worthless generation of living memory and possibly centuries.

The problem is ultimately that most people will start working full-time at ~20 and continue until ~60 (or even longer), and until recently most people were born when their parents were 20-30. That means there's something like a 10 year gap (minimum!) between when most children would be ready to start working and the earliest their parents would be ready to hand over the business. Rather than wageslave for their parents for the first 8 of those 10 years (i.e. when the "preparation for inheritance" phase would begin), the children find other work. Who, then, is ready to drop their successful career in order to go back to their parents and start from scratch? Nobody.
I can't blame the parents though, imagine being 40 years old (halfway through your life?), you've created a successful business and are finally reaping some of the financial benefits and your 20 year old son says "okay dad time to hand it over to me now, go figure something else out."
There's no good way forward.

Just compare them to the generations immediately preceding and following them.

A lot of you guys have grandparents or great-grandparents you knew, older than the boomers, we call them the Silent Generation, who were sweethearts or at least a lot more conscious of social benefit than the boomers are. Those older folk have Pluto in Cancer. Cancer is a sign rooted in concern for others, the family, security, worry, reservation, comfort, self-sacrifice for those you care about---more or less the complete opposite of Leo. It's no wonder that there is such a stark difference between how they have been seen to behave, and the boomers.

And then following the Leos was Pluto in Virgo, more or less corresponding to the latest portion of boomers, or the first half of Gen X, depends on your perspective, nevertheless which has extremely similar undertones to Cancer, for the most part. Virgo can be summed up with themes of responsibility and stewardship. Thus these people behave in a similar way as would the silent genners, in caring a lot more about the future of their families and society as a whole, which shows in a generally less extravagant behavior.

If you want political examples: you have Ron Paul as a Cancer, Donald Trump as a Leo, and Bashar al-Assad as a Virgo.

I don't believe they should pass down their hard earned business just like that.
The son should either do his own thing OR expand his dad business.
There are a lot of businessmen sons that behave just like wagies, they have 0 drive to improve the company and wait for the "reward" that will either never come or at a point when they are too old to enjoy it.
What I have learned is that nothing will be handed to you, unless you are too lucky. You gotta grab it violently. And I don't mean in a literal way. But if you are working in your dad's business as a cuckslave, you should claim your hairloom, not by demanding gibs, but by acting like a man.
My uncle let his mom take everything away from him and his brothers. He never grabbed his inheritance, he just let his mom walk all over him, and did nothing.

NO ONE is good. Your father means well (usually) but he isn't perfect, he WILL try to benefit from you and even abuse you because he is human. You gotta fight him. Otherwise you remain a slave until he dies. I know of 50+ years old who still work under their dads tyranny.

Jerry Garcia was both a Leo in Pluto *and* a Leo in Sun.

Do you know who else had those positions? Perhaps the most important Leo in world history, and arguably person irrespective of sign: Napoleon. So obviously, it is not a sign doomed to beget nothing but shitters. But by all counts, Napoleon was an exceptional individual, and not the average Leo in Sun / Leo in Pluto.

As I said, it is a sign "born" to be a leader, the star of the show, but not in itself equipped with anything other than the drive to be in charge and the will to get others to put them there. Anything more a Leo makes of themself will come from other positions of their chart, in my view.

It is a wonderful sign for a lead singer of a band. The boomers are responsible for the modern concept of the rockstar. But for mission critical rolesn governing the fate of society? With no reins to check them, you are left in poor hands, all things considered.

>It is a wonderful sign for a lead singer of a band. The boomers are responsible for the modern concept of the rockstar. But for mission critical rolesn governing the fate of society? With no reins to check them, you are left in poor hands, all things considered.

all of that makes sense, but I still don't know what you mean generationally. Were more boomers born in august than other months? I didn't know you could say that entire generations had a particular astrological sign

Renters will make it less valuable than just selling it from the start. Renters don't give a shit about maintaining the property or equipment, soil erosion, etc. Renting out land you own for farming purposes is only worthwhile if you're going to be nearby to call out their shit, not if you live two states over.
Imagine living in an apartment that had zero property management oversight over the apartment complex. It would burn down or overflow with sewage/bacon grease in a few months.

Your confusion comes from not understanding the planetary distinction. When you mention August, you are thinking of Sun signs, which is what we mean in everyday speech when we talk about peoples' "signs", because it is the core and foundation of that person's personality.

But the Sun is not the only planet that exerts an astrological influence on peoples' personalities. They all do---Mercury, the Moon, Saturn, Pluto, all of them---each governing a different chunk of what makes a whole person.

You know that the Sun spends about 1 month in each sign, which corresponds roughly to a year of transit, of course. The other planets travel faster or slower than a year depending on their closeness to Earth, with the moon only spending a few days in each sign, leading to transits of only barely over a month. On the opposite side of that timescale is Pluto, the farthest, taking decades to move through most signs, such that a full transit of the whole Zodiac takes about 2 centuries. IIRC we are currently in Pluto in Capricorn, which was last seen in the late 1700s during the American Revolution. Maybe I misremember.

The point is, the Pluto sign lasts for many years, covering a swath of people we'd typically call a whole generation. Its influence thus manifests in large groups extending long periods of time. A Pluto in Leo person was born anywhere from ~1939 to ~1957. They don't have to be Sun in Leo born, because that's irrelevant. Their Pluto sign and Sun sign are different things.

Pluto is said to affect certain aspects of character but I can't comment on that theory. It suffices to think of it as whatever effects the Sun sign equivalent would have, but applied to an entire generation. I'd recommend trying to get a handle on the vices of the sign because it's clear from the boomers that those parts of the personality are manifested hard by Pluto---more than the virtues, it would seem.

I'm a big believer in the wave function universe to the point where I believe language and thought are just wave patterns propagating through our minds and even through societies minds at large, its why the meme chart works, and why people follow cycles. but I believe it is why astrology works on a level because fundamentally we are shaped by those before and we shape those after and of course our response to dominant traits will be different.

Yup.

I forget where I read it, but there was a similar story about Italians vs. some other immigrant group both starting construction companies back when they immigrated to the U.S.

The Italians set up corporate structures and had their kids work various jobs, with percentages of pay being as stock so the kids ended up as part owners and eventually majority owners.

The other ethnic group was like my father, refusing to deal with corporate legal norms to limit liability, lording it over the kids, demanding they work for pennies, and saying "some day this will all be yours!" then being surprised when the kids left to do their own things.

Anyway, that was supposedly why so many construction companies ended up being Italian-run rather than being dominated by the other ethnic group.

I watched a black and white movie about ten years ago with an ex called Mr Deeds Goes to Town. It was about a rural new englander who finds out hes the heir to a new york fortune. He goes there, falls in love with a journalist, but gets in trouble with the social scene. He ends the movie by using his inheritance to buy land to farm for all the "forgotten men" laid low by the depression in town. Ten acres per family. Everyone was happy and he married the woman he loved.

But that has always stuck with me. Ten acres. Ten acres for man to work and raise a family. Today the median farm size is 445 acres. Go ahead and google it yourself. Sure, thats offset by major agricorps and their megafarms, but the trend has gotten larger and larger. Why is that? Why could a man provide for his family on ten acres 80 years ago, and today he needs to run a plantation with illegal immigrant migrant labor. Labor that, if he ever stepped out of line politically he could be financially and legally crushed for employing?

Its because of free trade, regulations, and urbanization. Don't tell me there aren't men willing to work, and their aren't women willing to marry men who work on these farms. If you earned the equivalent of 6 figures to work your own land and develop it and leave something precious to your children, an awful lot of y ou would be willing to do it. And the produce would be better quality. We wouldn't be eating this gmo bullshit with disgusting herbacides and pesticides. You wouldn't get food poisoning at chipotle because the mexican picker shit on the field and gave you montazumas revenge.

We can go back to those days if we have the will. The will to enforce tarrifs, break up these agri-trusts, break up these banks and agricultural monoplists like monsanto. And most of all take power back from the federal government and return it to its rightful place in local governments, not these semi city state oligarchies where chicago urbanites rule over the rural serfs of illinois

Your 60 year old uncle Willy who you've not seen since you were 7 is 10 years into a 30 year sentence in a federal prison for harvesting seeds with his crop shaker for profit.

He never did harvest dem der 'santo seeds crops knowingly, but some of the pollen caught wind into the next field and contamynatered the crop. When he shook the seeds out the fbi and monsanto appeared out of the corn field in helicopters blowin seed everywhere.

So Billy, We a 'santo seed farm willy. You make $10,000 a field instead of $8,000 a field due to the higher yield of dem der monsanto crops. The santo seeds cost $4000 a field. Now it may look like your losing money but your not you see, you can just go der ask your uncle Willy about dat...

You can use the Ready Round up with dem der seeds and every since this monsanto started there's a fungus going round only ready round up can kill that monstanto crops are 50% resistant to, so you better be grateful for santo really.

So anyways Billy you always make enough money to pay for dem der monsanto seeds. Are you listening Billy, this knowledge has been passed down for 14 Generations, along with our relationship with the bank. There's only 150 years left on the mortgage, and someday your grandkids will own dis here farm.

The purpose of mass media is to politically indoctrinate people from the end of high school until death. The point of this indoctrination is not only to give people the false sense that they are well informed on "just the unbiased facts" of current events, but also to train them on how they should respond to this new information in an approved way through distribution of predetermined talking points. The best way to do this on a website is through the comments section. It wouldn't surprise me if major news websites ran comment bots on their own servers, or journalists wrote the highest ranked comments themselves. People read the article, people read the comments, when they hear someone talking about the current event referenced in the article they repeat the comments thinking they thought of it themselves.

Stop yacking about things you clearly haven't taken the slightest time to research. England has census records for the entire population going back to the 12th century, plus the Domesday book c. the late 11th century. I haven't looked at other countries but I wouldn't be surprised if they had similar.

Imagine all the video games you bought? That could have gone a long way towards debt!
Imagine all of those months of netflix/hulu/whatever. It adds up when you factor in compounding interest!
That cell phone bill with unlimited data? That could have gone towards debt and bills!

Depending on how hard your boomer parent screamed at you "YOU ARE GOING TO COLLEGE RIGHT NOW OR YOU ARE GETTING KICKED OUT!" the debt is 100% your fault, deal with it. I hope you got a good degree and a good job or else you are entitled to someone else clean up your mistake.

My grandmother remarried to a farmer and every fucking Saturday from the age of 13 - 26 I'd be down there baling hay, splitting wood, putting up fence, whatever. I recently moved away but the dream is still to move out there one day.

I think living as a recreational farmer is the dream. You don't want it to be your livelihood for sure. But having a nice remote job, owning 50 acres in a small 100% white community, and making an extra 20k a year selling hay to your retarded horse owning neighbors while making eating your own fruits and vegetables instead of the pesticide ridden, half spoiled shit at Walmart is the dream. Farming should be a hobby outside of major corporations that can scale, not a career unless you're doing some obscure niche that corporations wont' bother with, like a saffron farm or something.

Know an ancient farmer with ~800 acres in a very, very nice rural area in central Texas about an hour outside of San Antonio. His family has owned the land since one of his ancestors was granted it for fighting at the Alamo. I was asking what his plans were for the land and he said it was all going to his kids, whom I have never met. Turns out his boomer kids plan is to sell it to a developer to turn it into a suburb. I asked him to sell me some of that acreage and his response was
>a man needs to leave something to his family, even if they don't want it
You'd assume what's left of his generation would have figured out what his kids generation is actually like by this point.

>There's no good way forward.
The problem isn't that they refuse to fork over the whole business prematurely. There is in fact a good way forward. They could treat them as an heir, promote them in the business, pay them well, involve them in the back-end of running the operation, groom them increasingly as a partner in the company across time. The problem is that they don't do any of that shit - they treat them as cheap labor instead, they pigeon-hole them, they pay them like shit, and they keep a micromanaging iron-grip on operations themselves instead of cultivating the heirs as managers with increasing levels of responsibility. They expect their kids to be broke while working their asses off until Dad finally croaks when they're in their 50's. They expect them to be grateful for the opportunity to piss their youthful, social-life-establishing, marrying, family-raising years away just because there's a big payoff in money waiting for them at the end. They HAVE to turn down the deal if they want a decent life, and there IS a better way things could be. But boomers are too myopic and narcissistic to make it happen.

The Boomer problem goes beyond simple greed and narcissism, it goes to the very core of their being, the environment in witch they lived and their demographics.
>Their parents were the youngest of the G.I's and the Silent generation and grew up in the hardships of the war in the Americas and Europe
>This age bracket were determined to build a better world for their children after the war and were eager to please their parents
>With the post war economic dominace of the US and reconstruction in europe, along with a booming motor industry left over from wartime production and advances in housing, peronal automobiles and the cookie cutter suburbs they facilitate are born, with large shopping malls to supply them with goods, services and entertainment all in one convenient, sterile, controlled location
>The Boomers are also the first generation of children to be pandered to, that their childhood tastes and desires are valid and should be met with the booming toy and child care industry and expanded educations.
>Meanwhile due to the horrors of the World Wars postmodern philosophy takes root in academia and the universities, this leads to further womens liberation and growing irreligion, this is the same class that feeds the teachers of the child boomers
>Boomers seeing a rising standard of living in material terms throughout their childhoods with their secular education and sterile but safe growing environment become young adults in the late 60's

>Young boomers being the largest voting demographic by age and along with their silent gen parents, vote for policies like free/subsidied college and strong unions for the young to get a good foothold as they exported American industry to European reconstruction and cold war bribes for 3rd world nations
>As Boomers are spiritually unsatisfied the hippie movement and other pseudoreligious spiritual movements take place emphasising liberalism, hedonism and lack of harm, this results in sexual liberation and associated openess towards sexuality and lends support to equality movements and ideas
>In the 70's women enter the workforce en massee partly due to hypercompetivity among such a large cohort of people lowering the price of labour and the aforementioned egalitarian beliefs, this is also the begginning of the modern trend of keeping wages low for business owners by importing
>Now older and more settled in industry and family life, the Boomers vote for the conservative revival of Thatcher and Regan, globalised free trade and privatisation of industry allowed for lots of money to be made for them at this stage of life, even at the expense of the youngest Boomers and early working Gen X
>Boomers also kicked off housing as an investment rather than a commodity, vastly increasing property prices even in cookie cutter suburbs
>What followed was neoliberalism from the 80's to early 2010's which ended around Obama's second term and the focus began to shift with the aging population to healthcare(Obamacare, Medicare), pensions and Social Security

>> No.50024939

>>50024907

>These will pass as the largest voting demographic is still Boomers as they didn't have any kids anywhere but the US and even then Millenials and Gen X combined don't meet the required population to outvote them
>There is no normalisation for several generations after as a mix of Feminism, Atheism, Urbanisation, Contraception and Women in the Workforce has reduced fertility rates in every MEDC nation, with slightly more Christian USA barely holding on to just below replacement rates and supplementing the rest with Mexicans and exporting labour abroad
>Also beginning in the 70's is the trend of mass immigration for economic purposes due to the above mentioned beliefs and economic realities combining with cheap, easy and safe international travel as a result of the American World Order, this has depressed wages in real terms relative to inflation for near on 50 years as a result of inflation of the labour pool

>recreational farmer
It’s a nice thought, but it’s not at easy as just growing shit and selling it. The regulations are insane and you will be looking at a considerable amount of paperwork. My neighbor’s elderly mom made extra cash when she was young by making and selling fruit pies from their orchard. She’d feed scraps to the chickens (genuinely free range chickens with a few acres to themselves) and sell the eggs for a few extra bucks too. Can’t do that anymore without business loicenses and inspections. Add to that the time it takes to grow your own produce and you’re looking at 100+ hr work weeks.

That said, it does seem like the only way for a family farm to stay afloat is if the farmer’s wife/child earns 150k+ working remotely and just pours the money into the farm. Pretty gross really, I like knowing the people who grow my food but every year it seems like another local farm goes under. Farming should be hard but when the government has you by the balls and keeps squeezing it’s near impossible.
