You will never own a home, housing prices will never come back to reasonable levels.
Yes, it will "come down", but it went up $400,000 over this period minimum and will go down by $40,000. Then after 5 years it'll shoot right back up

Most houses did not double, but they increased 50%.

300k house is now 450k.
150k raise is made up of appreciation, inflation and increased costs. Let us ignore increased costs, because that is harder, leaving us 15% inflation and 85% appreciation.

300k house
30k inflation
120k appreciation
= 450k house

If if we say in the next 2 years housing drops 33% in appreciation and let us say inflation is 5% a year, so the true decrease will be 23%.

450k in 2 years
=$346,500
A reasonable guess for a 450k house today in 2024. .

The listing agent emailed me today, and said make an offer, so I offered $250K, he said that is probably too low, but they might take $300K

It's an establishment solution but problem is not climate change. Climate change itself is not an issue for the rich. The problem that it solves is you possibly escaping your leash. By reintroducing serfdom you stop this from happening. When you can't own your house and you're in constant inescapable debt you're always just focused on survival. You don't have time to focus on things beyond the rat race. The huge immigration is also a part of it, not least because it causes populations where people are less sympathetic towards each other.

I totally agree it's a tool of control.
It pisses me off on this site to see people celebrating asset price rises.
They are cheering on serfdom.
IMHO the primary uses of immigration are:
1. labour over supply puts downward pressure on wages
2. pressure on housing stock to boost prices
Third is cultural discord, but the above two leave us so fucked already and most aren't educated in what is being done to them, as you say.
Sad to say but I really think ((they)) have it sewn up.
