>Anyone know of other places to get cheapies?

My dad's LCS sells circulated Canadian 80% for exactly melt value, basically no one wants it so they just send what they get with the junk silverware to get refined. Visit or call around asking to browse their scrap bins, some anons have gotten cool stuff like Morgan dollars for melt value because they were cleaned or scratched.

I just stick to mining eBay and estate sales for cheap scrap, just got this eBay batch in today. 353g of sterling worth $223 melt for $78.60 with shipping and tax. A shit deal compared with the scores I've scooped lately but as long as it's under $10/ozt ASW I'll take it.

TLDR for anyone not aware, indiegogo has suspended the campaign and has basically not communicated at all pending "investigation" for "violation of community guidelines". Likely wont be reinstated. If it wont be, will make a givesendgo instead.

>How do you manage to snag deals like that? Nice find.

I search the silverplate and a few other subcategories for descriptions containing the word "sterling" every few days, then plug the promising listings into the Gixen.com sniping service or use the BIN option. Note in my screengrab here how 2 of the 3 items say "Plate" or "plated"? That scares away most people but a quick look at the pics showed they were hallmarked perfectly. Auctions with "sterling" in the title or listed in the right category get lots of attention and high bids, so I search precisely where midwits like >>49931924 won't look to efficiently scoop good silver deals. Another simple but more tedious approach is to search "sterling" in the antiques category, BIN listings only, sorted most recent first then refresh periodically for cheap ignorant boomer listings to snap up but that takes lots of time so I haven't done it since perfecting other better strategies. I prefer IRL estate sales but they're seasonal and hit-or-miss.

>>49932252
That was in Illinois, but maybe your shop doesn't stock the .800 because they scrap it too? Can't hurt to ask about their junk bin.

><<>>< WHY SILVER? ><<>><

>Historically Undervalued
Gold and silver exist in the Earth at about a 1:16 ratio, and this is the ratio they traded at for all of history. However, today these metals are extracted at a ratio of 1:8, but their price ratio has been as high as 1:80! This indicates that, historically speaking, silver is extremely undervalued relative to gold.

>Industrial Need
Silver is used in thousands of technological, industrial, and even medical applications. In fact, it is the second most patented material in the world, just after crude oil.

>Supply and Demand
As silver is used industrially, it is transformed into a form that is not economically feasible to recycle. Because of this, we say it is consumed, and that the supply of silver is continually drained. Not only that, but the world's silver mining output has slowed in recent years. Most silver is mined as a byproduct of base metals, and as demand for base metals decreases, the new supply of silver is also reduced. For these reasons, silver is considered an "endangered element," just like helium.

>Market Manipulation
JP Morgan was once forced to pay a $1,000,000,000 fine after being caught rigging the silver market. They continue to do so, but having friends in low places protects them from being truly held to account. As explained above, silver and gold are coupled in a price ratio, though this ratio is somewhat elastic. The goal of market manipulation is to suppress the price of gold as a means to suppress reported figures for inflation, but the gold market is slow and heavy. Silver is much easier to manipulate, and is therefore suppressed directly in order to drag gold down with it. By suppressing reported figures of inflation, the Treasury is enabled to borrow money at lower interest rates, buying more time before the government is forced to default on its debt or resort to hyperinflating the currency.

All this means that silver has greater potential for gains than gold.

>Historically Undervalued
According to fiat. Also the price of silver has roughly remained stable before 2008 with a slight increase afterwards. When you factor in the 41% premiums vs 7.2% gold premiums and the 83oz of silver vs 1oz of gold ratio, investing in silver is the inferior precious metal hands down with the info I've provided. I'm not even knocking the idea of collecting silver either, it's much better than fiat with the possible Wiemar fiat crash in the upcoming months but if you have a choice, pick gold instead of silver. This speculative silver to the moon is going to leave you silver stackers wanting to get mega rich from it extremely disappointed.

Silver: 41% premiums
Gold: 7.2% premiums

It really is as simple as that, the returns for when I sell my gold will be much higher than if I brought silver instead. I think the people who brought silver pre 2008 are the only ones that are going to benefit from selling their silver in the possible depression, everyone else that have been stacking silver in the past couple of years barely anything.

Have you considered what the prices might look like if the GSR reverted to its historical ratio of 1:15? This is what has happened every time there's been a monetary crisis throughout history, and if it happens again, then silver will outperform gold to a far greater degree than the difference in premiums.
I would also argue that the high premiums on silver are a symptom of the price manipulation. The spot price is kept low, but dealers are unable to source product reliably, so the premiums creep up and up while the spot price stays the same.

This idea only works if you think silver is being suppressed instead of thinking that gold is overvalued. Closing the gap is meaningless if there are no higher returns on either of them. I'm sick of this narrative that silver going to the moon is a sure thing. It isn't and the more I look at the data the more I think that FOMO is at full speed with the speculative expectations. I would have higher hopes if the premiums weren't so fucking high but they are and there's no justification for getting silver while they are this high. If you can get pure silver at spot, you're quids in, anything above 10% is a waste of your wealth.

I know that chlorine can cause damage to silver, that's what causes PVC rot to take place on coins exposed to certain flimsy plastics like old cling film or candy wrapper type plastics... and even old flips from a few decades back.
In general, the coins should be fine. Particularly fine silver coins. There would have to be something particularly reactive in your drinking water to cause it lasting damage.

last number I read here was between 200-500 oz of Paper silver per real existing ounce of silver.
With the 6 months of price fuckery since I started I believe that number to be much higher now. We're in heavy inflation, this is usually the time where PMs are supposed to soar AND we have almost all goddamn dealerships claiming very high demand but spot keeps dropping.
I'd expect fuckery with Gold AND Silver prices to have happened in a massive scale, and I think the most likely scenario right now is a push for CBDC digital currency, which would open up the black markets with potential for riots and sound money coming back inofficially IF we aren't pozzed to hell as a society already and the old rules go out the window because we have been MK-Ultra'd into submission and consist of NPCs to a dangerous percentage.

Have you actually read any of that. I just had a quick look at random parts and it can be boiled down to that the British control America through institutions like the Committee of the Round and hilariously a shadow elite calling themselves the Olympians. I found the spider web chart at the bottom to be bat shit insane directly linking MI6 with the ADL as if it's an unofficial branch of it. Reading that Pol Pot genociding half the population of Cambodia was an experiment of this committee elite to control populations gave me a stitch from laughing, the person who wrote all of this is way too far down the rabbit hole to be sane.
