I sell vapes out of a vending machine to college kids. Easily replicable in any major metro or college town. AMA

Profitable?

>>49925626
Wow, how do you get the license and is it legal if you can't check their ID?

>> No.49925734

>>49925648
Good question actually lol. My machine specifically is bolted to the floor and has bulletproof glass

>>49925659
Yes. I go through my inventory of roughly 500 each weekend with an avg. gross profit of ~$4.50 per unit.

Also found adding more inventory of pricier, longer lasting vapes and further marking up the cheaper ones (and adding them to the lower shelves for less visibility) massively increases AOV. The smaller, cheaper ones sell out fast and your only option are the larger, longer lasting, more expensive ones. Which, in a bar, inevitably get lost before they're used fully

>>49925687
Im actually working on adding ID verification now. Currently, the understanding it is in a strictly 21+ location (lol no) and by assumption everyone present with access is at least 21. This is also in Florida so extrapolate what you will.

that wouldnt be feasible in eu, however i see a great future in vending machines
do you have multiple? do you restock yourself? do you buy from chinese or do you buy already imported stuff?

>> No.49925858

>>49925817
It’s totally feasible in EU just wouldn’t be as profitable because vaping culture here is much less

>> No.49925862

>>49925817
Already imported. My wholesaler does most of their business with gas stations, smoke shops, etc. Im one of the smaller accounts they handle.

Only one at the moment. Looking to expand but limited by the nature I am in a fairly small college town.

Yeah the EU is dominated by the cigarette market. I should have prefaced that this is much more viable in north america

Doubt I could do that here. Someone would wrap chains around it and pull it out of the ground with a truck.

You got guts kid.. But no sense whatsoever. The responsibility falls entirely on the seller to confirm the purchaser is of age. No "21+ area" will help you. No "b-but he said he was of age!" excuses will cut it. Whoever allowed you to install this won't take the fall, though they may get wrapped up in it too. Enjoy getting absolutely DRAINED when a parent decides to go for an easy payday.

Have you tried doing it at a HBCU?

I live in EU, alcohol and cigs are hidden from view in the stores (to protect children), you have to ask to buy a cig, cashier goes to a back room and brings it to you.

OP said its inside a carded bar. means it's a perma 21+ zone.

>>49926038
I'd direct you to Florida Statute Section 569.34. May vary in your location.

>>49926285
No but there is a large HBCU near my university. I'd rather deal with suburban white kids

>> No.49928451

>>49925858
It wouldn't work in the EU. If it's not illegal yet it would become illegal as soon as the first machine appears, trust me about this.

>> No.49928701

>>49928451
Most likely. This is best operated in small college towns, especially in red states

>> No.49928760

would need a bloody loicense for that in my country

When I was a kid in middle school (2000-2004) there was a pool hall right next to the middle school with an old-school cigarette dispenser, and the owner would let the kids who were skipping school come right in and buy them lmao

Really smart move OP. Thanks for sharing this idea, I may end up doing this soon. How much did the vending machine cost to purchase? I'd assume a vending machine with bullet proof glass isn't cheap.

>> No.49928856

I was in the other thread you made in appearance in OP. How much does the property owner charge you to have the machine on the premises? I'm assuming you're making way more in profit than what you're paying. Just curious what a "fair" price is.

Don't worry in case of an active shooter being on school ground the SRO (School Ressource Officer) is here to secure private property.

Not trying to jack your idea since I live in northern europe and would use sth completely different as a product, but where do you buy used vending machines?
How much was your initial investment?
Is there anything one should look for when doing so? Any pitfalls and maintenance hassles?
Also: do you accept cash or cards only?
Thank you fren.

But bro I also live in college town and sometimes they let 19+ in on the weekends. How do you bypass that when it's 21 now?

>I'd assume a vending machine with bullet proof glass isn't cheap.
Bullet proof glass is mostly thick lexan/polycarbonate. Real ballistic glass is meant to be pretty, so they put some real glass on top which gives much better clarity. But for degenerate vapers polycarbonate is good enough.

Maybe just put a replaceable anti-graffiti film on to.

don't you need a tobacco license in most areas to sell nicotine products? there's a reason bars don't sell cigs

Anon Im in FL too and desperate for anything that can make ke money. How much did it cost to set up and run? What steps did you have to take as far as registering as a business with the state etc? Did you just go to a smokeshop or liquor store and talked to the ownder if you could set a machine there or what?

I fucking love vapes they helped me quit cigs and my nearest 7/11 got bought by a boomer that changed it to something else and promptly removed all ecigs saying there was too much clutter on the front. I know these things sell like hotcakes
