Lol I foresee a dark future for BTC futures.
Imagine there will be a total crash of BTC to let's say $5.

Let's say that before the crash people shorted 8000 BTC in total at $16k.
To settle the orders a total of (16k/5)*8000 BTC needs to be bought. That's more that the total supply. Good luck CME group

its settled in cash dummy

If it is cheaper or easier for people to own futures instead of bitcoin the price will crash. Otherwise it will have no affect

What about the same scenario happening on BitMEX then?

They have circuit breakers at 7% up or down dipshit do you seriously think a company like CME would open themselves up like that without doing their due diligence, also cash settled meaning no bitcoin ever gets bought it sold its basically just betting

What do you mean by circuit breaker?

If there's a move bigger than 7% in either direction, trading is halted.

There are always same amount of long and short on MEX.

then people are credited more btc than exists. whats the problem? it's not like you can cash out the monopoly money.

Never EVER ever EVER going to happen.

You have no idea just how much money is sitting on the sidelines waiting and salivating for a BTC crash.

You are deluded as fuck if you think BTC will ever be sub 5k again
