Legalization of prostution, gambling and light drugs such as marihuana, psychedelic mushrooms would make great economic advance. Trillions of dollar worth industries are in the hands of obnoxious organizations and individuals. Gambling, whoring and recreational use of substances are part of the human nature and because of that fact banishing those activities is simply useless. Instead of banishing those activities and causing trillions of dollar worth off-record dark economy, world governments should legalize and regulate those activities. With income generated from it Universal Basic Income can be easily set on motion.

Some societies don't want those things even if it means a curtailment of their personal freedom. That's why in some places they're legal, and in others they're not. Your perception of what is acceptable socially changes when you have skin in the game(i.e. kids, reputation, social influence, power etc.) If you don't have any skin in the game it makes perfect sense you would want as much personal freedom as possible. There are places that are designed for you to destroy yourself, live safe coddled lives, and everything in between. It all depends on what personal freedoms you want to give up in order to have a semblance of control over that part of society.

I went to the riverboat casinos in Missouri a few times, the next youngest person there besides me was 60 years old, at least. It was a sea of grey hair and walkers. They literally bus them in from nursing homes. Not saying they aren't degenerates, but does it matter if a bunch of bored geriatrics want to gamble some of their social security check?
