Here’s a less snooty way to say the same thing:
In a room with three (or any number of odd doors) you either start outside the room and can go in, then out, then in again, then you’d be stuck in the room forever, so this would have to be the room you end in. If you start in the room you can go out, then in, than out and you are free, so this would have to be the room you start in.
