you will be able to buy/rent/sell code, datasets, applications, computing power without being able to see (steal) said code. Code will have built in oracle factory and confidential security tools (secret NFTs). Secret NFTs will be able to shield your ID while authenticating it is you through oracles. Really insane revolutionary tech that is essential for Ethereum blockchain

I got excited by this. I thought it solved a business problem I've been working on.

But I just realised that there are already services for Confidential Computing on Azure/GCP/AWS

As a SWE I would much rather use those big services. And the organisation I work for would too. Its easy to tell my boss we need to use CC in Azure. Its waaaaaaay harder to say "we need to get our clients to put confidential information on on Oracle based off an alt-coin and then we need to use bizarre exotic undocumented programming languages to write deep learning models in, and if the alt coin tanks our company will look terrible"

you and your colleagues may be interested in their development rewards, don't know if funding is limiting you at all. RLC has quite possibly the largest warchest of any altcoin out of the top 20 and they want to pay you to build on it

Ill look into it more. I am interested. But I work for big risk adverse public company. Its a much easier sell using a design pattern like this one: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/azure/architecture/example-scenario/confidential/healthcare-inference#architecture

And they wont really care about the developer rewards scheme.

I look forward to seeing what startups might do. Or maybe Azure/GCP will end up integrating this kind of thing in as a service. They already have their own MongoDBs, Kubernetes, etc.

The biggest thing that could happen for this project is Google/Amazon/Microsoft see it as valuable and adopt it. But strategically I would see them just using making their own as they could force massive adoption at scale overnight of their alternative.

I think the technology is very interesting and genius. But when I look forward 5 years assuming everything works out (which is always a maybe) I see it having bad strategic positioning since it is targeting very risk adverse data protection markets, and everyone wants to go with safe big options for those.

Those are my opinions and Im interested to any and all counter points as Im still learning of course

We've seen that this isn't the case. It's easier to adopt something already built out.

Agree as a fellow SWE. Things need to change for anything based off an altcoin to displace commercial centralized solutions. Large organizations have inertia and are very PR and risk sensitive. Nothing that exists today is nearly as mature where any large organization would take the plunge even if it was free.

>> No.49691586

>>49691414

They adopt open source software like MongoDB (although they made their own Azure Cosmos DB) and Kubernetes (although they modified it with Azure Kubernetes Service and have another alternative).

Those are all free open source projects with massive adoption that people widely used.

The is no precendent for doing this with a crypto.

Azure is huge. If they copied the crypto code and had their own version of it (which they do already with most other things) they would not be forced to buy a huge amount of this crypto project. They can just make their own. But really I see them just taking the useful bits and integrating it into Azure.

They would much rather spend money buying an asset required to use a new technology rather than trying to copy said technology and waste millions with R&D. Microsoft already made a post about iExec. Intel is already working with them and there's rumors of Google too.

I don't think you understand where this is going.

Yeah, that is not acceptable in an iExec thread. They value diversity highly.
Just look at pic related. Asian and mongoloid, you can't more diverse than that. Natural hire for iExec.
